Belfast born and bred and currently living in another small fishing village with lots of history in Co Down. I love the rugged Co Antrim coastline just as much - particularly the great first gasp of 'north coast' sea air every visit - wonderfully restorative!

Etta Halliday purchased this cottage in 2006

It's walking distance to the places I love most - Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle. I'm a 'Chronicles of Narnia' fan and if this landscape could inspire CS Lewis, it's inspirational for this writer too.

It's a home from home - for me, my family and it seems our guests love it just as much. I love that our little cluster of homes is surrounded by fields and hedgerows yet walk for just a handful of minutes and you're at the restaurants and stores in the village. Perfectly peaceful and perfectly positioned.

Perfect family destination

This is a fabulous property beautifully presented house and Etta left the fire ready for lighting upon our arrival as well as easter eggs for the children and cakes for ourselves which we felt was a lovely touch. The cottage is situated in a quiet cul de sac so the children were safe while out playing and there is a short cut which leads you directly to the centre of Bushmills within minutes. The interior of the house is tastefully decorated and was spotlessly clean upon our arrival with clear instructions on how to operate the heating etc.
The highlights of our trip were a visit the the amazing Giants Causeway, the Carrick a rede bridge as well as the Bushmills Whiskey factory. Bushmills is a quaint town with lovely shops and restaurants. We had a very nice meal in the Distillery Arms and would recommend it.
Eagry Cottage is the perfect location for exploring Co Antrims amazing countryside and beaches and we also visited Portstewart and Portrush. Etta the owner was very easy and efficient to deal with. We would recommend the house to either a family or couples and hope to return in the future. Highly recommended!
Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review folks! We're very glad you enjoyed both the cottage and the area and look forward to welcoming you back sometime.

The perfect place to stay

Eagry Cottage served as our home for a week. It was very tidy, well organized and was just as the photos presented. Etta is very easy to contact and suggested local spots for us to visit. We appreciated the local eggs, milk, short bread, bread, and cheese she left to welcome us. We would highly recommend Eagry Cottage and have done so to numerous friends already. We enjoyed exploring the Coastal Route, the Giant's Causeway, a train trip to Belfast from Coleraine, a tour through beautiful Donegal, a day trip to the Belleek Factory and of course a tour of Bushmills' Distillery. This was a perfect location to be. Thank you, Etta, for sharing your cozy home with us.
Owner's Response: I'm so glad you had a lovely visit Meredyth and thank you for the lovely review. Tell your friends to let us know they got the recommendation from you - if they ever stop by for a while.

Lovely Cottage close to Stunning Scenery

Eagry cottage was comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. Etta, the owner, had thought of everything. It was a perfect base from which to explore the stunning nearby coastline. A visit to the "Giant's Causeway" and "Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge" was a highlight. There is so much to do around Bushmills and the scenery rivals anything we have ever seen. Hopefully we will return one day.

Owner's Response: Thanks Di - really glad you enjoyed the area and yes, you're right, the Causeway Coast is stunning - especially at it's best when the water beyond the cliffs is sparkling and I think you maybe got lovely fresh spring weather to enjoy it all.

Brave you crossing the rope bridge - you do know it means you're obliged to return? (Or is that just "more oul' blether" from Ulster?!)

Excellent Standard of Accommodation

This is a lovely, well appointed house with all the facilities you could need for your holiday in a sparklingly clean, excellently maintained property with a cosy, homely feel. Its location close to some of the most beautiful tourist spots in Northern Ireland is one of its many advantages and there are some great local eateries within walking distance of the safe and quiet location of the house. The property is well run with plenty of information provided on all local amenities and tourist attractions. Having recently stayed abroad in various hotel and B&B settings, I appreciate how thorough is the attention to detail and how thoughtfully the needs of guests are catered for. I spent two weekends in the winter at Eagry (November 2009 and November 2010) and I thorougly enjoyed both stays. This location would work equally well for families and smaller groups.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments - delighted you enjoyed your visits and we look forward to welcoming you again... provided we can tempt you to the north coast again soon!

Beautiful yet central for the sights

I stayed in November 2010 and had a wonderfully comfortable and cosy stay in a beautiful home. The property was tastefully presented and within 2 minutes' walk of the famous Bushmills Distillery and all the lovely eateries in the village. It was great being so close to the Giant's Causeway and the expansive beach at Portrush. For quiet evenings in there was a great library of books and DVDs. Will definitely be staying again and can recommend this to property to the discerning visitor.

Bushmills is just one hour from Belfast International airport, yet it's another world. We're right at the heart of the stunning Causeway Coastal Route - the essential Irish journey. With nine breathtaking Glens of Antrim to cycle, walk or drive, Eagry Cottage is less than a handful of miles from the main attractions: it's just 2 miles to the Giant's Causeway (World Heritage Site), Portballintrae beach, Dunluce Castle, Royal Portrush Golf Course, great surfing, and we're right on the doorstep of the famous Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery - 'legally' making whiskey since 1608!

There are great restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and craft nooks just an easy, short stroll away as well as seaside towns, fishing villages, National Trust properties and tiny, peaceful harbors to visit.

Pony trekking, the Old Llammas Fair in Ballycastle (August), the North West 200 road race (motorbikes) and Bird Sanctuary on Rathlin Island are all within easy reach of the house.

Golf: Links golf is the game played on a course designed by mother nature with as many humps and bumps as you like with a view unequalled for it's beauty! At Eagry Cottage, we love to boast one of the word's top links courses almost on our doorstep. Royal Portrush - just 3 miles away and home to the 2012 Irish Open! ('Home' to Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell - GMac, Darren Clarke and Padraig Harrington - if you have to ask.... you're not a golfer!)

The Royal County Down Course is easily within driving distance too, though by the time you've tested your skills on the marvellous Portstewart and Castlerock courses as well, we think you'll have enough travellers tales to tell of the game at it's best, along one of the world's most spectacular coastlines.

All courses have specific information on their respective websites - easy enough to find on the web.
