Our log sided two level vacation home is located 5 miles from Colebrook, NH and 5 miles from the famous Balsams Grand Resort and Wilderness Ski Area. The cabin sits on over 6 acres of woods and open land, offering peace and quiet along with views of surrounding mountains. Access to snowmobile Corridor Trail 18 is a minute away, and there is direct access to the ATV trail system, connecting to Pittsburg, Errol, and N. Stratford. The area abounds with lakes and streams for fishing, mountain trails for hiking, waterfalls for viewing, and many areas to view wildlife, particularly moose. There are 3 golf courses within 5 miles, including the Balsam's Panorama course, rated the number one course in NH open to the public. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric fry pan, crockpot, cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes and silverware. From the deck you can enjoy sunrises over Keyser Mt. and sunsets over Vermont's Mt. Monadnock.

The TVs can each receive a different channel at the same time. There are a few movies on DVD and VHS tape at the cabin. Video rentals are available in town, or bring your own. There is no charge for local phone calls, but to make toll calls you will need a phone card.
I had a great time at Unwind Acres. The place is nicely furnished and very comfortable. I had booked a two week stay and four days into it, I booked it again for next year. It is nice and quiet with a remote feel but only minutes away from the center of town and all of its conveniences. The owner Craig was helpful through the entire process.
I couldn’t recommend it more highly (unless of course you want to rent it for the same time that I do). :)
We spent four very relaxing days here and really enjoyed our time. The owner is wonderfully helpful, friendly, and has kept the property up to a very high level. There are plenty of lovely fall drives nearby, and a store for groceries (though the kitchen is stocked with all the condiments and basics.) There are a few restaurants around--don't miss the Tall Timbers in Pittsburg! Our only regret is that we didn't see any moose--guess we'll need to make a return trip!
Saying the place is beautiful is an understatement. My group was impressed by the accommodations and we will be coming back. Do not hesitate to book this cabin...
The name of this property is very fitting - "Unwind Acres." The decor and furnishings are incredibly enoyable and comfortable! There is NOTHING missing here.....just bring your clothes and food. If you like to cook.....the kitchen is stocked with every pot, pan, dish and utensil you would ever look for, and more! We walked in and booked the following year same dates before the property owner was done showing us around. Very Peaceful and great family retreat!
Thank you and we will see you next year...we had a great time!
Unwind Acres certainly lived up to its name for three weary adults and two young grandchildren. This cabin is perfect for families since the children can be downstairs and the adults upstairs, especially at night. The lovely views from all the wide front windows made relaxing a dream, and the quiet nights made for blissful sleeping. The cabin is very private but there is a long road for wonderful walking with views of the notch on every hilltop. Our visit made us want to move to Colebrook!
We had a wonderful week of hunting and relaxing at Unwind Acres. The house was extremely well furnished, even had legos for the kids and condiments in the fridge. And tools to put together a skeet thrower! The cabin is comfortable, kitchen nice to cook in.
The cabin is located 5 miles east of Colebrook Village, on a paved town highway, halfway from the village to Dixville Notch and the Balsams. It is a short drive to the Diamond Ponds, Coleman State Park and Dixville Notch State Park. There is easy access to the snowmobile trail system connecting to Errol, Diamond Pond, and Pittsburg as well as Maine, Vermont, and Quebec. We are at an elevation of 1,500 feet, assuring dependable snow conditions. Summer activities include golf at the Colebrook Country Club or the 2 courses at The Balsams, The Blessing of the Bikes (the weekend after Laconia Bike Week), and the Colebrook-Pittsburg Moose Festival in August. Fall brings outstanding foliage viewing and winter follows with snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing, ice fishing, sledding, and snowshoeing.
Other Activities: snowmobiling and ATV riding
Ski: The Balsams Wilderness Ski Area is 5 miles from the house and is a 'family' oriented ski area with a vertical drop of about 1,000'. Several larger areas, Saddleback Mt., Sunday River, Burke Mt., Bretton Woods, and Wildcat are all located with a 1.5 hour drive.
NOTE: THE BALSAMS WILDERNESS SKI AREA AND THE BALSAMS GRAND HOTEL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE 2013 SEASON DUE TO RENOVATION OF THE RESORT.
