About Bob Low

This property was purchased in 1990 and until 2005 we had a little beach house we used and rented(some of our past renters may remember it). In 2005 the 'little' house was 'retired' and now 'Capehaven' has taken its place. Capehaven was designed taking advantage of the 15 years experience at the beach, taking into consideration the seasonal weather patterns, and of course the available views of the beach and the nearby hills to the east. Bob 'retired' from the big aerospace company in Seattle in Jan 2006. Sue is a 'retired' school administrator who also hasn't figured out that retirement doesn't mean continuing to work as a consultant.

When you stay at Capehaven, you will find that we both have a creative side and take pride in creating a warm and inviting and tasteful environment where ever we live. That's no exception for the beach house. Sue simply can't help herself from not wanting to constantly change it up and keep the house fresh and tastefully decorated. As our guests you will get to enjoy the results of our passion.

Bob Low purchased this house in 1990

Why Bob Low chose Arch Cape

We always loved coming down to Cannon Beach, however the crowds there have gotten to be a bit much in the summer. We discovered Arch Cape over 20 years ago and it is still the undiscovered gem of the Oregon Coast. It has a unspoiled natural beauty that is hard to match. It is so nice to be able to run into Cannon Beach take in the art and shops and then come back to the serenity and raw beauty that the Arch Cape community and beaches offer.

What makes this house unique

Capehaven was designed to take advantage of all the available views. There is the breakfast deck on the east side of the house where you can enjoy your morning coffee with the sun coming up over the beautiful hills to the east. The covered ocean view north deck on the west side of house allows you to BBQ and dine outside rain or shine with a wind protection from the south, or there's ocean view sun deck on the southwest side that has wind protection from the prevailing summer breeze. During the cooler months, you will enjoy the radiant heated floors which are throughout the house, and the cozy gas fireplace in the living room. The beach is literally a stones throw away and there is an easy path to beach. There is a large covered lower deck in the back with outside warm & cold water so that you can hose the kids down after an afternoon on the beach. For those who are looking for a romantic getaway, the lighting was designed to allow you to set the perfect mood, and then there's the built in sound system throughout the upstairs to complete the setting.

New in 2011- Hot Tub with pergola, connecting decks to the existing large covered back deck, makes hot tubing fun rain or shine. A new fire pit is just 3 steps down from the hot tub deck making the back yard new oasis for just hanging out!

Guestbook comments from the owner

OUR STAY WAS PERFECT!!!

We absolutely loved your home. And it was very clean. We were actuaully suprized that you're willing to share such a beautiful home with strangers.

We are planning another reunion next year and want to stay at your house again. I'm curious though. I have a degree in architectural studies, specializing in interior design and I can really critique any building I've been in (including my own home). But your home is flawless. I just have to say that the house is one of the best-planned, built, and furnished homes I've ever been in. You've done an excellent job and should be very proud.

Thank you for letting us stay in your home. We hope to stay again next year.

Thanks again,

Vera

Great place for get together

  • 5 of 5

This property was everything and more as described on vrbo. Even with short notice and a few obstacles the owners made this weekend getaway happen. He even came to the house and showed us around. We can't thank them enough. If your looking for a place for small gatherings and tasteful decor this is it. We felt right at home.

The oerfdct beach house

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I just had a wonderful, long weekend, at Capehaven. The house had all the amenities, and didn't lack for the fine details. Every room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves, which we also watched while sitting at the breakfast bar. The beach is a very short, easy walk, just 3 houses down the street. We were blessed with fantastic weather for the end of January, so many hours were spent walking along the soft sand. The views were amazing, and the location was perfect...very close to town, and many sights. Cannon beach is full of many cute shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed Bruce's Candy shop (where they pull their own taffy on site), and Tom's Fish and chips. Bob, the owner was very easy to work with, and handled the rental process efficiently and professionally. We loved this house, and would definitely recommend it!

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Our large group had a marvelous stay at Capehaven. Whether it was all of us around the dinner table or a few in the hot tub or strolling on the beach, every part of the day was relaxing.

Capehaven is well-appointed and clean, and the upstairs great room (my favorite part of the home!) is fantastic for group activities like preparing meals, but still spread out enough to have a few separate conversations or activities at once.

I can't remember if it is mentioned in the listing, but the house is "shoes off", so bring some slippers - or just enjoy the warmth of the radiant floor heating!

I'd also like to give a special extra star to the owners. Not only were they easy to contact before our stay regarding a few last-minute details, but Bob went above and beyond in helping me recover an item I left behind at the house.

Great Houe!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Capehaven was fantastic. The house was beautiful and very clean. It had every amenity we could think of and we took advantage of all of them. We had great weather which made the views spectacular. Even on a cloudy day it was great. There was plenty of space for everyone to gather around or spend some time alone reading a book.

Everyone in our group was blown away and constantly complimenting me for finding the place. We would love to stay again.

Owner's Response: We do provide those amenities that you don't normally get when you rent a beach house. Capehaven is not just a rental to us, it's our home away from home and our guests get the opportunity to enjoy the décor, a fully stocked kitchen (not just a bare bones equipped), fire pit, hot tub, etc. etc. that we want in our home away from home. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay! Thanks Bob & Sue

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Capehaven was perfect for our coastal gathering and slept 8 adults very comfortably. We enjoyed cooking dinners in the beautiful kitchen and the proximity to the beach for morning walks. Bob was great to work with and easy to reach when we had questions. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the area! It's just a short drive to Seaside, Tillamook and Cannon Beach to see all the local tourist sights.

Owner's Response: Thanks Dana, Sue and I are pleased that Capehaven worked out so well for you. Your correct, that we do have a unique location. Close to all the places you might want to check out while at the Oregon coast, but always return to a beautiful quiet beach after a days exploration. Thanks for choosing to stay at Capehaven. Bob & Sue

Fabulous Weekend!

  • 4 of 5

Capehaven was the perfect place for our family to celebrate a special birthday. The warm, cozy living area, and separate TV room allowed us all to hang out (and watch the World Series) at the same time. We loved the view of a stormy sea from the kitchen windows! Thanks for thinking of everything to make us comfortable.
