This apartment was originally our weekend home. We bought here because it is simply a delightful place, unhurried and relaxing. The views are magnisficent. The beach is amazing, long and private. It is not far away from San Juan and the drive is easy.
Our stay at the condo of Marina Ramirez was fabulous. It was spacious, very clean and had a spectacular view of mountains and the ocean. My wife and I woke up each morning before sunrise to the seranade of coquis, little frogs that sound like birds. We sat on one of the two balconies and watched the sun rise. We needed the air conditioning only on the first night and after that we opened all the windows and doors and let the tropical breezes waft over us. It was so comforting.
You will need a car here but you want one any way to explore the island. We went to San Juan twice, The El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, the rain forest and the horce race track, and Ponce...Oh and on Sunday you must go to Guavate to enjoy the roasted pig at El Rancho. Check out Youtube this place has been on Travel Channel a number of times. The rocking good Latin music, food and hospitality will give you a memory for a lifetime.
Punta Tuna is just down the street, you should see this 19th century lighthouse and the breathtaking scenery. The coastal beaches are spectacular as are the mountain roads but drive carefully for these roads are not for the faint of heart.
We relaxed around the pool when we were not traveling about the island.
Marina keeps her property clean and comfortable with many amenities. For about fifty dollars a night less than a San Juan Hotel you will get three bedrooms, a nice livingroom and two balconies that offer views so spectacular you won't want to leave. Marina was very informative as I had many questions before hand. I have been watching my videos every day to relive the great experience. Marina will take care of you. We had special requests that were attended to. You can not beat the price for this facility.
This space has an amazing view. It was clean. It is old and a little rough around the edges but for the space and price it is worth it. It is tucked away in the beautiful mountains so plan on driving about an hour everywhere. We felt safe and the guards at the entrance were friendly. We walked to the nearby beach although it is not for swimming it still is beautiful. Due to the fact that it is tucked into the mountains do expect to hear many nature sounds. Air is only circulated by open windows which at night gets a little loud. The air conditioner in the master bedroom works great but is loud. If you are looking for a true Puerto Rico experience this offers it. You aren't city living at this place, which we loved. Bring extra bedding. Not a lot of kitchen appliances so don't plan on making big meals. Stock up on toilet paper and paper towels. Make sure and bring your own beach towels. Hot water works great for shower time. Truly, for the views and price you can't find anything better. Wifi works good. Cable TV is nice. We stayed for 8 nights. We are a family of 6. One room had 3 twin beds. One room had futon and full bed. Master had queen bed, light bedding on all beds so bring some extra. 2 bathrooms. 2 balconies. Main balcony is off of family room and is good size.
The owner was very helpful in answering my questions. Photos were very accurate, the property was clean, listing description was accurate and I would recommend the property to my friends.
Our 6-day vacation to Puerto Rico was very enjoyable. Lots of great outdoor activities and a variety of good food, everything from local flavors available at the many kioskos to fine seafood dining at picturesque beachside restaurants.
Specifically concerning our villa, I feel like I need to give a good description so people will know what to expect. As you can see, our "overall experience" was a 4-star rating. The grounds are nice, the pools are great, everything is clean and the 24-hour security is a nice bonus. We have stayed at many beachfront properties and I would have to say this was our best view ever. On one side, there are mountains in the near distance that roll down to the sea and on the other is a beautiful seaside lighthouse that sits on a bluff. Just about your entire view is ocean! It's true, you will be about 25 minutes from "American style" shopping and 45 minutes from most "things to do", but for us this turned out to be a good thing as it let us experience more of Puerto Rico as it truly is (as opposed to Old San Juan, which is great but very touristy) We enjoyed our drives to and from our destinations and saw many interesting things we would have otherwise missed.
OK, now...the unit itself is definitely NOT 4-star. To us, once we accepted that (after the first hour or so), it was not much of a negative at all. The unit is very large. The lack of A/C is not much of a factor as there is constantly a great breeze coming through (we were there when the highs were in the low to mid-80s, lows at night in the mid-70s). The unit is, however, quite stark. There are very few decorative touches, there are a few nicks and bumps on the walls that could use a fresh coat of paint, the doors throughout are aging and the master bath has a large stain in the tub. Now mind you, the unit IS clean...it's just that it is aging and could use a little freshening up. The kitchen is adequate but also very simple. This is all coming from the perspective of fairly frequent travelers who regularly stay at pretty nice places in the States.
I would definitely recommend this place to people who are reasonable and understanding of what they are getting. You are paying $100/night to stay in a very large unit with the best views you could ask for. Do go, but do not go expecting to be staying in the lap of luxury.
Lastly...Upon arrival, follow directions completely..it is a haul from the airport, longer than we thought...but you'll make it. Enjoy.
My Family and I had a awesome vacation, The location was lovely, The apartment was clean, beautiful and just right for a family with a budget We had a blast and will return again, thank you again!
We spent three weeks there, it was our first time to Puerto Rico and no doubt this place was for us the most beautiful, most romantic and most wild and good taste.
The site is also a generous all-inclusive resort ...
The security staff is very nice and the place is well supported any evidence.
We had the opportunity to cook, what we have done almost on every night because of the exceptional view of the sea, mountains and the horizon.
Apart Villas Del Faro our heart suddenly was San Juan (Old)
I recommend this place for rest, exploration or outdoor activities or water.
Marina thank you for your generosity !
This place was very nice and clean, staff was wonderful and the view was breath taking. True only 1 air conditioner, but it is listed. This place is away from it all "quite". Me and my family had the pool to ourselves. Follow the driving directions that Marina provides, trust me as the gps takes you else where. There is a beach near by, but you can't swim there "signs that state no swimming rough waves". The apartment had been painted, no longer the same color as in the pictures. I would stay here again nice, quite, and away from it all. Thank you Marina for allowing me and my family to stay in your place.
Maunabo is in the south east area of Puerto Rico. The Villas del Faro condo complex is on a small hill right across the road from a mile long beach. The town of Maunabo, a 10 minute car drive from the condo complex, is a rural small town reflective of old-time Puerto Rico. Surrounding the town there are plantations of sugar, plantain and other fruits and vegetables. Beyond small hills encircle. A gentle breeze cools days and nights.
