I had the privilege of staying at the Black Sterling Estates Vineyard for a 3 night stay in the beginning of February for a girl’s weekend. We had 8 guests total and the house was very spacious and could accommodate 7 couples comfortably, only one area would have to have two couples staying in the same room. The house was very clean and there were plenty of instructions and directions if you were unsure on how to use certain items. The views were lovely and the outside area made for a wonderful and a peaceful cup of coffee in the morning, looking at the horses. We were able to cook a full dinner in the kitchen and there was enough seating for everyone in the dining area. Sonoma was only a 10 minute drive and it was very easy to access wine country to do some tasting. It was even easy for the limo to find!!

A few friendly items that are not included, would be dish soup for hand washing, paper towels, and the basic essentials needed to keep things tighty. I would highly recommend staying at this Estate. Janna was very easy to contact and was quick on the turn around with our deposit as well. I am planning on staying here again for my wedding in November. Thank you Black Vineyard Estates for an amazing visit and a perfect place to come back too!

Ideal Sonoma Wine Country Getaway---We Will DEFINITELY Return!!!!

I was in charge of our family reunion this year, and being from the Bay Area, i choose the Wine Country as my gathering spot. Finding two large homes side by side that could accommodate our extended family AND also handicapped accessible, was a challenge.
I hit the jackpot when i found the Black Sterling properties, as the villa comfortably sleeps 12 and the vineyard estate sleeps 14,and the owner kindly allowed us to bring our family dog to our family reunion celebration as well.
While January is not considered high season in wine country----we had spectacular blue skies, warm weather, we ALL enjoyed the jacuzzi's----NOT just the kids, and the Friesian horses were an incredible perk----the truly are magnificent creatures imported from holland.
If you have a large group ---- you won't find two homes more conveniently located next two each other, easily walking distance to each other, than these two, in the heart of sonoma wine country. We were very comfortable, and my family was thrilled with my choice:)

We WILL be baaaaaack!!!

Wonderful House in Sonoma

We stayed here for a week to attend my son's wedding. We were 9 adults and 4 children and the house worked out really well. It's a gorgeous and very comfortable house, lovely grounds and fabulous view. The great room (kichen/living room) is incredibly spacious and comfortable and was a perfect place for us all to be together without being on top of each other . It' a lovely kitchen and well stocked with supplies and we cooked most days. The layout of the house also allows you to be on your own too. It never felt like there were 13 people under one roof. The view is gorgeous, the grounds are great and the kids loved the horses. The joggers in our group had fabulous country lanes to run in. The master bedroom is especially large and comfortable for the lucky couple who get that room. We cooked most meals in the house and the location is wonderful, there is a fresh produce stall just down the road and the market is not far. The overall location is great for all activities and there is a lot to do.

My only complaint was the trash. There were about 5 or 6 blue recycling cans which was more than plenty, but for the black regular trash, there was one tiny trash can (much smaller than standard trash cans issued in Los Angeles) that only held two trash bags - that is not much trash for 14 people (including babies in diapers) for one week, even compacted. We ended up having to dispose of our trash elsewhere to avoid the excess garbage fee.

The owner is lovely to work with, she is very responsive to any questions and we would definitely stay there again. I highly recommend this house for a visit to Sonoma.

Good Location but Strict Policies

Black Sterling is a great property in an ideal location and the horse riding on-site is an exceptional amenity. That said, after renting several vacation homes in the Sonoma-Napa region, it is definitely the most strict vacation home that I have stayed at through VRBO. As a courtesy to other renters, I just wanted to disclose my experience.

First, I was charged above and beyond the cleaning fee because our group used all the linens and towels in the house. Based on other rental properties I have stayed at, this should be included in the cleaning fee. If I knew that this would be the case, we would have happily washed some of the sheets prior to departure. Additionally, the recycling directions are fairly detailed and I was charged for this despite checking with the ranch hand prior to departure.

While we probably had more trash and linen usage than the average rental group, I have experienced less stringent experiences at other homes for the same price. While these are not necessarily deal breakers for some, I wish I knew about these issues prior to selecting the rental property for a special occasion.

Owner's Response: We do not charge extra for guests utilizing the linens and towels, nor do we charge extra for garbage, unless the renter leaves additional bags which we must pay to have collected by the sonoma county garbage service. As stated clearly in our rental agreement, we have a fairly common and reasonable policy of asking tenants to leave the home in a condition whereby our cleaning staff can clean the home and prepare it for the next guests in the 4 hour window we have for turnovers on sundays. 99.9% of guests are conscientious , and compact their garbage into the ample garbage cans provided, and treat the home as their own. When the cleaning staff has to spend several hours EXTRA cleaning up after a party group, we DO have to charge for their additional time, over thre normal cleaning window. This is a luxury home, with white carpet, most appropriate for small gatherings of 14 people or less, and we discourage large gatherings or parties with 15-25 people, at this location. Fortunately, we very very rarely have groups that leave the home in a condition which necessitates additional cleaning, above and beyond the 4 hour normal window, which is also an inconvenience to the incoming renters.

Lovely Time !!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Black Sterling Vineyard Estate, and Black Sterling Villa. The pictures don't do the homes justice, they are even nicer than we anticipated. The floor plans were ideal for our family --and we are already planning a possible annual reunion at one of the homes---we didn't want to leave!
I sure got a kick out of seeing your horse, "Sterling" wandering around the property, seemingly "owning the place".

What a fabulous setting. We never grew tired of the views, and the location is just ideal for a myriad of activities for family members, of all ages.

This home is clean, well appointed, comes with a well stocked kitchen and clean linens and towels. We thoroughly enjoyed our week , thanks in part to our marvelous and relaxing stay at the Villa.

We even hired a chef to come in one night and cook us all dinner---- a simple luxury we would highly recommend to other groups/families!!

This is a home we WILL return to!
