YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!

YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!

We have 3 children ages 11, 10 and 7 and we stay for 2 weeks as we found 1 week just wasn't long enough. We have booked our 4th summer here for another 2 weeks in July/August 2010...we love it!
What we love most about this property site is the privacy and cleanliness. The owners keep the grounds, as well as the cottages, in excellent, clean condition. The owners are friendly and always there on site if you have a problem or have questions about where to go or what to see. They have become like family to us.
We find our cottage to be spacious, clean, amenable, comfortable and just like home! The kitchen is fully equipped and the appliances are in excellent working condition. The kitchenware is clean and modern. You only have to bring your food! There is lots of clean cabinet space to store your food as well as closet space and bathroom space to store whatever you feel the need to bring.
The master bedroom has a very comfortable queen size mattress where my husband and I sleep. The living room has a very comfortable pull out sofa where our three children sleep. The bathroom is modern! There is a ceiling fan in every room which keeps the cottage comfortable day and night.
We love eating out on the patio and cooking on the gas grill. There is plenty of chairs and room for a few "invited" guests to come for lunch too! The view is simply breathtaking and it's so quiet.
We are also attracted to the sandy, private beach which is on site. The sand is soft and there is a large enough area that the children can build sand castles while the adults soak up the sun in lawn chairs. The water is shallow and gradually gets deeper but is under 5 feet for hundreds of feet out. It's great for the children. We also rent the owners' kayaks. The children have found a place to kayak out and pick enough blueberries to make a pie! There is even a large, famous sand dune to which you could walk or kayak.
There are laundromats close by as well as a Market Basket with reasonable prices to do grocery shopping. There are also other types of stores close by if you run out of something as well as brand name outlets in Tilton.
We have also rented a pontoon boat from the Marina which is right on the lake and docked it onsite. There is a wonderful seafood place in walking or boating distance too!
We would recommend this rental property to anyone and once you stay, you won't want to leave. It is "kid friendly"!
Thank you Doreen and Barbara for a nice rental.

Owner's Response: Another happy camper! Can't wait for summer to be here again. Come on up to visit us! We love sharing this beautiful lake with so many vacationers.

This was the best vacation rental we've ever had!
The cottage and beautiful stone patio were very clean and spacious, both overlooking picturesque Lake Winnisquam. Just a few steps away was our choice of a sandy beach or private boat dock for swimming, sunning or paddle boating. The water was delightfully clear, shallow and swimmable enhanced only by the occasional family of ducks floating by! Everything was exactly like the on-line photos including the expertly landscaped grounds.
This cottage was located just far enough off the beaten track to be private and peaceful yet close enough to restaurants and shopping to make outings quick and easy. After all, we didn't want to be away from our vacation spot for very long. It was perfect for our family of 3 and we just can't wait until next year!

Wonderful Stay!

I had the pleasure of staying at Cottage B for one week during August 2012.
Pros: Clean, private, convenient, owners on-site, spectacular sunrise
Cons: Lack of indoor recycling bin, well-used pans, tricky exiting driveway

This was my first trip to the Lakes Region and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay on Lake Winnisquam. Doreen was a wonderful host and the cottage was just what I was expecting. Clean, spacious, lots of storage space.

I do wish the cottage had a few material updates including (1) an indoor recycling bin (there was an outdoor bin but no indoor bin to collect items before taking them to the outdoor bin) and (2) a new set of pans (the pans “did the job” but they were pretty well-used and residue from bottom of the pans left a mess on the white glass stovetop). With these small updates, the stay would be near perfect. Not to deter any one, but rather to make you aware – exiting the driveway can be a little tricky (slight obstructed view) – this is mitigated with the extra pair of eyes of a front passenger.

I loved being on the water (cottage B is a few steps from the water but you can look out from the windows/patio) and even enjoyed a wonderful sunrise from the dock (the cottages face East and the sun rises over the mountains). I also rented a kayak for the week and enjoyed going out on the lake; there is a sandbar about a half mile away that is a popular spot for relaxing and often was my kayaking turn-around point.

If you hike - there are lots of great trails nearby - Mt. Major (45 min away) provides spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and is a short hike (1 hour up, 1 hour down) for all levels (in order of effort: Brook Trail < Boulder Trail < Mt. Major Trail – Mt. Major trail includes climbing some ledges but has some spectacular views prior to the summit). If you make the drive to White Mountain National Park, the Welch-Dickey trail (1 hr away) is a nice loop (moderate hike - 3-4 hours round trip, inclusive of summit time) - pack a lunch and enjoy it at the summit of Dickey. I would also recommend the Aerial Treetop Adventure at Gunstock (30 min away) – though it is physically demanding. And, I would recommend stopping by Sawyers (30 min away – convenient to Mt. Major & Gunstock) for at least their ice cream, though their lobster roll is a wonderful treat too (full of claw meat, lightly dressed).

Overall - I would recommend the cottage and would rent here again!

Wonderful Vacation Cottage!

5 of 5
Submitted: August 5, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
This vacation home is much more than a cottage. It has a generous kitchen area for cooking with all modern appliances, including a dishwasher. The owners provided everything needed - from small appliances, to oil & vinegar, salt & pepper, dish towels, liquid & dishwasher detergent - just bring your food!

This cottage has a spacious & comfortable bathroom with a modern & roomy shower, a large bedroom, a good-sized living room area with TV & WiFi, & plenty of parking. It really is a "home away from home."

My daughter & grandchildren rented the front cottage & my sister and I stayed in this back cottage. This cottage has a good-sized front terrace with a six-chair outdoor table with umbrella and a large grill. We ate dinner there every night. What a gorgeous view of the lake from the terrace. The cottage is much closer to the water than photos indicate.

The cottage was so clean and modern, that it was as dry & comfortable when it rained out, as when the sun was shining.

Doreen and Barbara were very accommodating, answered all our questions, and made sure we had everything we needed. We rented two peddle boats which were great for the children. The boats were big enough to hold adults, but the water is shallow for quite a distance, so we were very comfortable letting the children use them by themselves. My brother was able to bring and tie his boat at the dock, so everyday we swam, went out on the boats, played bocce on the lawn, and made smores at night around an outdoor grill/pit. Great memories! There are some little rocks in the water at the beginning of thbeach area, but we went to a nearby Walmart & bought the kids some water shoes, so the rocks didn't bother them at all. It was really nice to have a shallow beach area, as most cottages on the lake don't have a beach at all.

My grandson took one of the peddle boat to a nearby cove to fish & did get some bites, but John at the "Top of the Hill" restaurant told us about a great fishing spot under the bridge next to the marina. We parked at the front of the marina & followed a path down under the bridge. My grandson caught a dozen fish in just an hour, including two large bass. He was thrilled. Also, the food was so good at the "Top of the Hill restaurant, we didn't eat anywhere else. Anything on the menu is just $10.99 between 4-6 p.m., including scallops & prime rib!

What a wonderful week we had. Thanks Doreen and Barbara. We will definitely rent again next year.

Stellar Place to Stay!

5 of 5
Submitted: June 6, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
This rental is a must for anyone who loves the lake and moountains. My husband, myself and 2 children stayed this past May and had a wonderful time.

The cottage is extremly clean and well kept, the grounds are beautiful and our favorite part was the private beach. It is small and perfect for our 2 children to run around and not get into trouble while we relaxed a bit.

We had so much fun with the paddle boat we rented and also the fire we had to roast marshmallows on one evening. The ability to use the grill was a phenominal assett during our stay as well.

We will be coming back again and again!
