10/5-9/2007 - After a couple days in Waikiki, The Sharks Cove Getaway was an excellent way to spend our last few days in Oahu. We traveled the windward side of the island from Oahu and it was gorgeous. Our short stay did not warrant a Costco stop and with Foodland within walking distance we had everything we needed.

Close to excellent snorkeling, a walk across the street to Sharks Cove, a short walk to Three Tables and a short drive to Waimea Bay.

The house is spacious with ipod dock, high-speed internet access (and a desk with an excellent view of Shark’s Cove), a huge lanai, new bar-b-que, bikes and everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach. A shared full size washer and dryer with soap and dryer sheets was handy.

The view from the bedrooms gives the feeling of being in a tree-house. We did not notice there was no TV in the room until our last night. Linens are new and plentiful. The nightly rain was enjoyable. This is the wet side of the island so lots of gorgeous vegetation.

Terrific Sunsets

We stayed here for 10 days in March 2015. We were late to begin planning the winter in Hawaii, so we had to cobble together three places to fill the season. This property was a great way to finish our stay. The house was well maintained and super clean. There was a huge variety of good dishware, pans and cooking utensils. That was important to us because we were living here and not vacationing, so we prepared most meals. Heck, unlike our house even the electric start on the BBQ grill worked. Big plus for us were large closets and plenty of dresser drawers, and one of us was very happy for the large bathroom countertop and plentiful drawers. The wifi, cable, etc., worked well, and so did our Apple TV gadget. The location was directly across from the Shark’s Cove tide pools and the 3 mile bike/jog/walk path that stretches from 3 Tables to just beyond Sunset Beach. Great sunset views from the front porch. We recommend the Saturday morning farm/craft market at Sunset Elementary School across from Pipeline. Carol’s burritos at the market are most excellent, and so are the natural and organic foodstuffs at Char’s.

Perfect!

We just returned home from a wonderful week at this fabulous house. Such a wonderful location with beautiful scenery. This was my second visit to the island of Oahu. The first time I stayed in Ewa Beach, which is on the south side of the island and very crowded. The north shore is definitely the way to go, and this house was perfect for us. Directly across the street from Shark's Cove and about a block away from Foodland (this is important because it is the only market for miles). The house had everything that we needed to cook and prepare meals. It was very clean and updated. The master bedroom is actually very large with vaulted ceilings and there is also a balcony/deck off of the master that overlooks the ocean. I wanted to point that out because you can't tell from the pictures. We were very sad to leave and will definitely stay here again when we return to Hawaii.

Great location, great space!

  • 5 of 5

This place is even better in person! The kitchen and bathroom are both updated and all of the rooms are a very good size. The view from the deck is great. Having access to bikes was awesome because you are about a 7 min ride to Pipeline to the right and 7 min ride to Waimea Bay to the left. There is zero to do at night within walking distance. There is a little shopping area within a 5 min drive that has some restaurants but it all closes down around 8:30pm. If you are looking for lively nightlight, the North Shore just isn't for you.

I know this is normal in this area, but there are geckos inside the house. If you are freaked out by that, you might have an issue. I only saw them in the bathroom and once in the living room. The house is very clean and the housekeeper lives right behind this unit if you need her. I did think it was a little weird that the check out instructions instructed that you had to wash, dry and replace the sheets on the beds. The dryer is old so we had to leave them in the dryer it was taking so long.

Over all a great experience! I would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sorry that there was a misunderstanding regarding the washing of the bedding. Our housecleaning includes washing the bedding on the two beds in the rental. Since we don't charge additional cleaning fees for extra guests, we ask that you clean any additional linens used to accommodate guests that don't sleep on the two beds. Again, thank you for the kind review. Aloha
