This Beach Cottage is located at the Rookery, which is completely furnished in modern style, decorated with care and love to be clean and fresh when you arrive. Snowbirds welcome. Located across the street from the beach, it's 0.4 miles to the beach. The complex has two pools: one small pool just outside your door and a huge pool with an extended shallow end and an outdoor Jacuzzi. It is located at mile marker 6, which is 17 miles down Fort Morgan Road from Gulf Shores. Master bedroom has a Queen bed, the second bedroom features a Queen size bed, and the third bedroom has 2 twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher and ice maker. There is a washer and dryer. The Rookery was designed to be a natural and quiet resort and is located adjacent to the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. There are several golf courses, restaurants, and a marina near by.

The Rookery was designed to be a natural quiet resort and is located adjacent to the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. There are several golf courses near by and this unit is only 17 miles from Gulf Shores, without any of the traffic and crowds. A marina, boat dock and restaurants are nearby. Alabama's Gulf Coast offers a wonderful variety of inshore and offshore saltwater fishing. Driving west from Gulf Shores along Fort Morgan Road brings you to the end of the peninsula, where Fort Morgan stands guard to the mouth of Mobile Bay along with its sister, Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island, a ferry-ride away. You can also visit the Estuary located on Dauphin Island, or the Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores. Waterville is a water park in Gulf Shores, while The Track offers amusement park rides & an arcade. At the Rookery you will also find nature trails, tennis courts, a barbecue area, as well as a bike path. A short drive to Foley offers the Tanger Outlet, a large outlet mall.

No glass in the pool area please. Children should be supervised at all times. This is a wildlife area; you could see a small alligator in one of the on site ponds. We like long term renters in the winter months but prefer to rent by the week in summer.

Go after elusive blue marlin, yellow fin tuna, amberjack, cobia, red snapper, and more! Driving west from Gulf Shores along Fort Morgan Road brings you by scenic Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, a haven for nature lovers.

The Cottage: The arrangement of the bedrooms and two full baths easily would accommodate two couples for the winter months. Share a winter retreat and save money. The bathes have both showers and tubs. The convenient kitchen features full size stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and garbage disposal. Dishes and linens are provided. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. All on one level there is easy access to the cottage with safe parking. Everything you need is provided except food. This is a perfect family vacation spot in summer and fall. The beach is a state park area located across the street, 0.4 miles away.

Fabulous Pools!: The Rookery has two pools. There is also a smaller, more private pool located at just outside your front door! The very large zero entry pool is just steps away from where you will be staying. This pool has a hot tub, as well as eight fountains of water which spray into the pool. There are nature trails for walking and hiking, as well as a bike path. The public beach is a short walk down Cortez Street.

I loved my May vacation at this beautiful cottage! It was a pleasure to stay here as the cottage was clean, homey, and close to the beach. I especially enjoyed the pool in my back yard! If you want to vacation in the sun at a private location (hardly anyone else was in the neighborhood during my week in May), this is a fabulous place to stay!

the cottage was very nice. enjoyed our stay. would recommend place to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay on vacation. it was exactly as stated in advertisement. it was very clean, comfortable and quiet place to spend an relaxing vacation.would stay at cottage on vacation again.

This cottage is not SMOKE FREE

Our family’s long awaited and much needed week long vacation to this cottage at the Rookery left us more tired than when we arrived and very disappointed. The cottage was advertised as non smoking and “clean and fresh when you arrive” – it was neither. The very strong smell of cigarette smoke and residue saturated the entire cottage including linens, walls, furnishings, and floors. We did call Jenny as soon as we arrived to tell her about the situation, and she did come over very promptly with an air filter/purifier. Her swift response was exceptional, however, the cigarette smell was so overwhelming and causing our three year old daughter respiratory distress, we opted to spend the night with friends vacationing on Orange Beach that night, hoping that the air purifier would work a miracle overnight. When we returned the next morning the smell was still very strong, Moreover, we now discovered there were rather thick layers of dust collected anywhere and everywhere dust could collect. The white ceiling fans were brown and the blades were caked with inches, yes inches, of dust and smoky residue. The air conditioner return was caked with dust and the filter was in dire need of changing. Having a dust mite allergy myself, I spent the entire day wiping down everything, washing all the linens, bedspreads, throw rugs, etc in an attempt to lessen the dust and the odor. We bought air fresheners, candles, even resorted to a tip we found online – putting bowls of white vinegar throughout the cottage to capture the smoke and nicotine residue. These measures helped, and/or we got used to the smell, though my daughter’s cough did not abate, We spent as much time away from the cottage as possible, opting for swimming, walks, anything and anywhere with fresh air. It was amazing when we returned home form our vacation, and began to unpack how thick our clothes and belongings were still thick with the smoky residue and smell – everything went right into washing machine!
