Playa Belleza is a wonderful hideaway. It is indeed situated on the best part of a bay that is one of the special little bays along the Mayan coastline. The location, the gardens, the fun pool, the floor plan, not to mention the wonderful staff make this a great spot for 2 to 4 adults to wile away a day, or two ,or three, or a month! The amenities and services provided make it easy to pretend you are at a cool hotel. The husband/wife staff work very hard to make everything pristine. There is a pride of ownership that defies the fact that the "real" owners (and builders of this sweet spot) are not even in the country. The draw back is that you simply don't want to leave to go see the many ruins and other sights/experiences Quintana Roo is famous for. Let me not suggest this is a castle, it is a great little beach house paradise for up to 4. That's it! What fun!!
We are cooks and the kitchen was easy to use, had all the basics we needed, along with an outdoor BBQ for grilling. We made the best margaritas ever and squeezed fresh limes daily to make sure no lime disease occurred on our watch! July and just used the Bogie fans.
Oh there is a tight spiral stair case to the bedrooms. So not for you if you can't handle that.
As to animal sightings: just off the sandy beach, angel fish the size of a serving dish, a manta ray 7 feet across, shark and tons of "dora" fish ( you know!) as well as so many other fish guys, and on site many iquana sightings, the VERY old osprey, a small blue heron, geckos ( that sing to you inside your thatched roof-remember they are our friends- at night), and last but not least the capybara and her babies that live next to the pool (look it up!). How can that be in this pristine garden, how fabulous!
Blue Sky ( struggling under new mgmt) is still serving a mean pizza and other yummy food and the cenote is full blast for diving and snorkeling.
As a BB and vacation house owner I give a double thumbs up to our hosts!
