Deer Lake, The Detroit News called it ''The undiscovered jewel of the north!'' Toast marshmallows over an open fire on the beach. Watch spectacular sunsets from the home's spacious deck that set the water on fire! See the deer around the lake at dusk and dawn. Spot our bald eagles with their young. Watch our Osprey catch the fish that got away or better yet, give him some competition. The locals love fishing this lake, you will too. Paddle your kayaks among the lily pads and turtles. Bring your jet skis or rent one locally. Relax, the water is shallow for 100', and the soft sand bottom has no sudden drop offs, your kids can play more safely. Light winds for sailing smaller boats and smooth waters for skiing make this lake incredible for summer fun. Want more action? Drive two minutes over the mountain and have a great time at Boyne Mountains fabulous Water Park. Thirty seconds down the road and your golfing on the mountain where there is also a wonderful beach house restaurant.

Fabulous Fall Foliage: Boyne Valley boasts the most beautiful fall colors in Northern Michigan. Bright yellows, rich reds, deep golds against the back drop of many shades of evergreen and dark blue skies. Peak colors late September to Mid October.

White Winter Wonderland: Snow, snow and more snow coats the hills and valleys of this winter wonderland. Ski the many mountains or go cross country on the vast number of trails available throughout the area. Snow shoeing is very popular and will test your endurance. Ice skate at Avalanche Park in Boyne City. Take a snow break and hit the indoor waterpark and arcade at Boyne Mountain. Buzz up to Petoskey and let the kids play miniature golf indoors. Winter is a fun time in Boyne!

Spring Sprouts.: May is Morel mushrooming time. $45.00/pound. Delicious! Join us at the Festival and the 'Taste of Boyne'. Features many fine restaurants and their favorite recipes for the sought after and elusive morel. While you enjoy the tempting treats the kids can have a ball at the large carnival featured for four days during the festival. This carnival has been brought to you by the Boyne Valley Lions' Club and is known throughout Northern Michigan as one of the best. Proceeds go help local charities.

Ski:

Boyne Mountain. If we do not have enough snow, Boyne Mountain makes it! For the best skiing in Northern Michigan you are but a 5 minute drive away.

Golf:

Deer Lake is centrally located to dozens of wonderful golf courses (starting at 2 minutes away). There are just too many to list. Our golfing guests love to home base on Deer Lake. In the evening they can watch the sunset and enjoy their 'happy hour' on the deck overlooking the lake and perhaps see a deer or two quenching their thirst.

Winter 2012

This rental property worked very well for our family in winter 2012. The house was well maintained and stocked with everything needed from garbage bags to kitchen supplies. The renters were very easy going and made our experiance great. I would recomend this home on Deer Lake for a group up to 12 people summer or winter.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: We have so many wonderful families renting the home and we always appreciate when they take time to write a review. A fresh blanket of snow covered the area when this family arrived making there ski/snowboard experience at Boyne Mountain (5 minutes away) even better. We certainly hope you join us again in the near future.

Everything you need!

Great layout with enough room for all! Three generations of family had a wonderful stay ~ enough beds, baths and room to stretch. The owners have done a wonderful job to make sure it is stocked with everything. I have been to many rentals with unmade beds, not enough t.p./paper towels/garbage bags/cleaning supplies ~ but not here! It was great! It was also stocked with plenty of dishes/pots & pans and utensils. The garage was great to keep our skiis/snowboards in ~ plus had a 2nd refrigerator! That's great when you have a large family to feed over the holidays! Would rent again anytime of year!

Perfect Michigan Vacation

We just returned from an awesome week at this rental and we've already booked for next year! Look no further...this rental is everything the website says - and a lot more! Worth every dollar. Pristine clean and comfortable. My kids loved the lower garage with all the sand, water and outside toys. Kids love the lake which is only a foot deep for several yards out. House offers all the great things Michigan offers...lake, sand, campfire, family time, swimming, boating (paddleboat), etc. Wi Fi worked great - no problems. Extra refrigerator in garage came in handy. Everything well organized and clearly labeled throughout house. It's a home away from home! Close to town (about 6 minutes) and easy access to all 'up north' areas including Mackinac.

Don't look any further!

Completely as advertised. Very well maintained spacious home, located within a short distance to Boyne Mountain, Boyne City and others.. The lake out back is spectacular and if you're bringing children, they are in for a blast! The lake is very clean with a sandy shallow approach from the shore behind the house. Will definitely go again next year and as I said, don't look any further you can't go wrong.

Heaven on earth!

A group of us stayed on Deer Lake over the Boyne Mushroom festival and the house more than accommodated our needs. The house is beautiful, well maintained, cleaned and has everything you need to ejoy your stay. The lake is crystal clear with a sandy bottom and shallow, great for swimming! The sunset from the dock is a must see, so peacful. Thanks to our hosts, would love to come back!
