DEER LAKE!!! The Detroit Free Press/News called it "The Undiscovered Jewel Of The North." Toast marshmallows and roast hot dogs over a campfire on the beach. From the home's spacious balcony or from the private beach, view the spectacular sunsets that set the water on fire. Bring your kayaks and canoes and paddle among the lily pads, turtles and ducks.
The breeze is often excellent for your smaller summer or winter sail boats. All your larger toys can be launched from the convenient public access. Sunbathe, read a book and enjoy the quiet that only a secluded inland lake can offer. Walk out into the water for 100 feet. Relax, your children can more safely use their water toys. Jet skis are also seen on the lake. Bring yours if you like or rent one nearby.
Enjoy the lakes wildlife. It's called Deer Lake for a reason. At dusk and dawn they can be seen around the lake. Spot our resident Bald Eagles and watch our Osprey catch the fish that got away. Or, give him some competition yourself. Show the kids how it's done. The locals love to fish this lake. You will too!!
Want more action? Drive 5 minutes over the mountain pass and enjoy Boyne Mountain's Avalanche Water Park (all seasons.) There are local marinas for jet ski and wave runner rentals. For a great "family vacation" this home cannot be beat!
Our trip consisted of two families with young kids. The home was clean, well stocked and had everything we needed. Very close to Boyne Mountain for skiing, tubing, water park, etc. I would highly recommend the home and plan to stay here again.
My boyfriend & I stayed here over the Labor Day weekend and were amazing at how well maintained the lake house was -- exceeded our expectations! The lake house (really more than a cabin or cottage) was roomy, very clean, and had a lot of amenities. Tons of fresh clean towels, linens all clean, and fully stocked kitchen... just to name a few! There's also a dishwasher and washer/dryer WITH detergent for use. The lake itself is peaceful, although very shallow. The lake bottom was a bit mucky, and very shallow out past 100' from shore. We enjoyed the chairs that were situated right by the lake shore in the mornings while drinking coffee, and bonfires in the fire pit. The owners were kind enough to leave a barrel of wood for us to use, and gracious enough to let us take the paddle boat out on the lake. That was probably one of the highlights of my visit. Sunsets were amazing!! Very close to Petoskey and the Lake Michigan shoreline, if you were looking to get away for a day-trip. Boyne City is quaint and has a lot to offer, very close by. Highly recommend this lake house to anyone, whether you're group is big or small. We would love to come back for another visit -- this time staying longer than a holiday weekend.
This was a wonderful place to stay. The lake is great for all ages, as it is very shallow a long way out. The house is great. We had 10 adults and 2 kids and still had lots of room. We did feel like we are top of each other. The size is very deceiving from the outside. And it is so close to some of the most beautiful areas in Northern Michigan.
This house on Deer Lake was better than I expected! We stayed the week of the 4th of July. We spent our days playing an relaxing in the shallow water on our private beach and took short day trips to Petosky, Charlevoix and several wineries. The guys golfed on the course that is walking distance from the house. It was so relaxing to come back to the quiet of Deer Lake! We enjoyed campfires most nights and watched beautiful sunsets. The owners have included everything we needed and even a few things we forgot to bring. The layout of the house was great for our 3 generation family vacation with the adults sleeping in the bedrooms upstairs and all the kids being able to get away to do their own thing in the basement "bedrooms". We will definitely consider coming back as we all left feeling much more relaxed after having enjoyed our week away!
It was a very nice experience, the house is big and you have plenty of rooms. We felt like home since you had everything you needed. The area is nice an quiet with an awesome view and close to the ski resort. I am sure in summer is a great place to go too.
Great winter time location that is within a few miles of the Boyne Mountain resort. Very nice home. Plenty of room for a large group of people. The home had everything. Just bring yourself, some food, and your personal items. The basement was finished with plush carpeting, four beds, separate base board heating with a full bathroom. The upstairs has three bedrooms with two full bathrooms. Will be booking for the summer months.
