Location, Location, Location... This spectacular house is just a short 0.3 tenths of a mile walk to the Megansett Beach; A great beach for familes with young children. The house sits on a quiet street in a friendly neighborhood but still close enough to many ammenities and local activities. The Newly constructed bike path from North Falmouth to Woods Hole is less than 1/2 mile away!
Sunny, bright and spacious, 4 Bedrooms, screened in porch, 2 Full Bathrooms & outside shower for washing the kids off after a tough day at the beach. This home is ideal for large families who want to kick off their shoes & relax! Walking distance to beach, yacht club, tennis, convenience store, softball field, playground & ice cream stand. :) This two level home offers over 2600 square feet of living space, large front porch, deck, new kitchen with all appliances and a dining area, with 4+ charming bedrooms sleeps 8 people. Includes linens, towels, beach chairs, games and fun family times.
We stay at this lovely home every summer. It's beautiful, immaculately kept, and the owners John and Marina couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. There is plenty of room and truly everything you need for a great stay!
It's just a wonderful place!
This is an awesome property. The location is outstanding…close to the beach, to convenient stores for groceries and staples, to restaurants, the bike path and a public park. The house is gorgeous, well furnished, beautifully decorated, stocked with linens [including beach towels], appliances [including washer and dryer], kitchen staples and utensils, beach chairs and beach toys plus games and videos. The house has a full front porch with a hammock and a back deck with a dinette set. The Megansett location is also close to Falmouth which has great restaurants, stores and diversions. The ferry to Martha's Vineyard is close by so a day trip to that destination is a no-brainer. The best part of staying here is the owner. John leaves you a wealth of information, with a personal touch, about the area and all of his recommendations were winners. He is attentive to detail and accessible, if you need to contact him. The place reflects his care and attention to detail. I would never consider staying anywhere else on the Upper Cape and neither should you!
My family of four rented 15 Otis Street for two weeks this summer, and it was perfect! John (the owner) was thorough and honest in his emails & phone conversations leading up to our decision to rent the home. Everything was just as John led us to believe it would be, and even better.
I hadn't thought about renting in North Falmouth before, and am very glad that we did. This is a much quieter part of the Cape with all the benefits of the water (beaches, marinas, etc). Sunsets over Buzzards Bay each night were a highlight.
The house was clean top to bottom when we arrived. The four bedrooms upstairs were nicely sized - one had a bunk bed and one had a queen bed, the other two had two twins.
The best parts about this house were:
- The farmer's porch out front. This is where I would have coffee every morning & watch the neighborhood wake up
- The screened in porch along the side of the house. This is where my wife and I drink glasses of wine each evening.
- The closet full of board games & puzzles. The kids *loved* this.
- The proximity to the beach. Just a few blocks to Megansett beach.
- The proximity to the Daily Brew coffee house on 28A. We went their most days.
- The proximity to the Brewer's Marina in Fiddler's Cove. I am a big boater, and Brewer's will rack your boat for $250/week, generally much cheaper than other options. The marina is less than a 5 minute drive from 15 Otis Street.
- Heck, the proximity to a lot more than I thought North Falmouth had (Lazy Sundae ice cream; Somerset Creamery; 151 Diner; 15 minute drive to Mashpee Commons; 20 minute drive down back roads to Woods Hole; etc)
Most of all, it was a true pleasure dealing with John. He's clearly invested a lot of time keeping the house up and immediately answered the phone each time I called.
Our famly of 6 (toddler of 16 months, parents and 3 grandparents) had a wonderful week holiday (July-Aug 2012) at this well equipped and located house in Megansett.
After a long drive down from Ottawa, Canada we quickly settled in and found that the house had everything we could need, from a well equipped kitchen, lots of beach gear + a bike, a geat back deck with bbq, and a lovely main floor with lots of space for everyone to relax (loved the front verandah and the screened in side porch). The house is also on a nice quiet street with the beach a 5-10 minute walk away, and a playground and ball field also nearby.
While admittedly the beach is small and not quite fine sand, there was always plenty of space to set-up chairs and towels and our little guy loved digging in the sand, playing with the shells and looking at the crabs and fish. There is an open side and sheltered side to the beach, so even on a windier day the sheltered side stayed pretty calm and had a roped off area for swimming.
We liked the Megansett area, found it to be quieter and less busy than some of the other areas we visited. Within a 10 min drive you had several eating options, two convenience stores, two ice cream shops, a fish market, and a bike rental shop. The owners also recommended some other great eating options a little further away, where to get groceries, and some good options for day trips. We also did some great bike rides and the sky to sea trail is very close by.
Overall, the house and location were just what we needed for a relaxing holiday, and the owners were very helpful and offered some great suggestions for an enjoyable first visit to Cape Cod.
We stayed here in August 2011 after having rented the house for the entire summer of 2008. It is a perfect house - very clean, well-furnished, comfortable beds, great location, close to Megansett Beach - a wonderful, never-crowded beach, great for kids and adults. The house is in a perfect location to get to from off-Cape and to downtown Falmouth and for traveling the Cape. There are many excellent restaurants nearby and for toddlers and younger children, the nearby library park/playground is very popular.
If you stay here, check out the Chart Room restaurant at Kingman's Marina for great sunsets, food, piano bar and a friendly and lively crowd.
The owners of this house are fantastic. We now consider them friends of our family. We highly recommend this house and can't wait to get back in 2012.
This house was everything as advertized and more. It included all the amenities; the kitchen was well equiped, washer & dryer, great grill, we loved the outdoor shower (even the kids!), beach chairs, floats, little tykes wagon, kick boards and a couple bikes.
A closet full of games, puzzles, water guns, etc... Two TV's, one that played VCR and DVD movies, bookcase filled with all types of age appropriate books, and internet access to check up on my email.
The house was really clean when we checked in and the whole atmossphere causes you to immediately relax! It brought back all those beach house family trips from my childhood memories.
The owners were great to deal with and available anytime on their cell phone. They made us feel like family. We can't wait to go back next year, my kids are so excited to go back to see the friends they made this summer, to hang out in the park or get an ice cream at holy cow.
One of the best vacations for our entire family, not a bad thing to say about the owers or the property!!!
This is a place to relax and one with much activity. -- Falmouth has more public beaches and harbors than any other town in Cape Cod; some are on Vineyard Sound and some on Buzzards Bay. The town is comprised of numerous villages including its best known -- Woods Hole with scientific institutions, an aquarium and docking for the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Biking, tennis, golf, water sports are all near hand. There is shopping on Falmouth's historic Main Street and in Mashpee Commons.
