Photos and Description of the Mackinaw City vacation cottage rental
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

This cozy cottage is the perfect Michigan get-away for all 4 seasons! It features birch ceilings, ash hardwood flooring, living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a full kitchen and even a laundry room. Stocked with everything you’ll need to enjoy your stay, just bring the groceries!

They say “location is everything” and you won’t find a better location to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer.

If you are interested in star-gazing, the cottage is located just a few minutes from the Headlands - recently designated as a 'DARK SKY PRESERVE' - one of only 10 locations in the USA! This is given to a few special areas that are free of artificial light. The night sky is breathtakingly beautiful!

In the winter, you can be on the slopes of Nubs Knob or Boyne Mountain in less than 30 minutes. If you prefer snow-shoeing or x-country skiing, the area offers the Headlands, Wilderness State Park or Mill Creek - all minutes away. The beautiful Mackinaw to Midland snowmobile/bike trail is easily accessed from Mackinaw City. Interested in a little more adventure? Try a dog-sled ride through the wilderness from a local musher! Also a great base-camp for hunters.

In the spring, birdwatchers gather from all over the country to catch a glimpse of the incredible hawk migration.

In the summer, you can be soaking up the sun on one of Lake Michigan’s most beautiful sandy beaches in a few minutes. Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Historic Fort Michilimackinac and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse are all within easy reach – as is Shepler’s Ferry dock – the ultimate transportation to Mackinac Island. The cottage also comes with 3 kayaks and 4 bikes for your enjoyment.

In the fall, take the color tour through the “tunnel of trees” or enjoy spectacular scenery in the Upper Peninsula, an easy drive across the mighty Mackinac Bridge. There’s nothing quite like the sound of bugling elks during mating season at Pigeon River or the mysterious call of the loon on a quiet lake. It’s all here! Hunt, fish, hike, canoe, bike – you can do it all or you can just relax by the cozy fireplace with a good book.

With lots of choices of accommodations, we can help you find the perfect place to host your family reunion, wedding or other small get-together.

We're offering a variety of Ecotour packages in the summer and fall. Interested in kayaking the Straits of Mackinac or the Les Cheneaux Islands? How about a guided bike tour or a birding excursion? We can hook you up with an experienced guide (all equipment included) for an unforgettable adventure.

If we don't have openings, we'll help you find a cottage in the area!

Book your perfect Northern Michigan getaway today!

About Diane Moreno

When Chuck and I met, one of the many things we had in common was that we grew up vacationing in Northern Michigan. As a result of those wonderful summers, we came to love the outdoors. It was such a part of us that we knew some day we'd have our own cottage there.

Diane Moreno purchased this cottage in 2006
Why Diane Moreno chose Mackinaw City

Our son and his wife were married on Mackinac Island a few years ago and that was when we decided to purchase this great cottage. We wanted to provide a special place for our children to bring their children in the years to come and we found the perfect spot.

What makes this cottage unique

We can walk to the beaches, Mackinac Island ferries, the lighthouse, the fort or any number of great resturants or shops. We can drive to Sault Ste Marie, Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls, St. Ignace, the Les Cheneaux Islands, Drummond Island or Petoskey in about an hour. We love the outdoors and the possibilities are endless here. Swim, fish, kayak, canoe, sail, hike, bike, scuba dive, hunt, birdwatch - you name it! It's all available there.

Beyond Expectations!

Diane,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Our trip was a mom getaway to do the annual Zoo de Mack 51 mile bike ride.
We choose to stay in Mackinaw City, as it was the city for which we ended the ride. While looking at pricing for a hotel room, we decided to check out VRBO to compare. We were pleasantly surprised that for the price of the hotel room, we could stay at your cottage and have the comfort of a "home".
The listing on VRBO portrays the cottage completely!
Your cottage was cozy, gorgeous, homey.

Thank you!

Beautiful!!!

Submitted: November 5, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
We absolutely loved the beach on Wilderness Rd. The water is beautiful, warm, we even kayaked there :). We liked the Island, loved the City of Mackinaw and just loved being here at the cottage. We even cooked by the campfire - the girls really liked that!
This was a great place for a family vacation!! Our favorite thing was the beach! Thanks so much.

Diane, thank you for all your suggestions. We had a very enjoyable stay in your cottage and would have no problem in telling our friends that this is the place to stay while in Mackinaw City!

A Lovely Get-away!

Submitted: November 5, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
This is a lovely get away. The cottage is like a home and the movie collection was a bonus! My husband and I got up early in the morning and walked for an hour. In town on the main street along the coast is a GOOD bakery! Worth trying their donuts!

Felt very at home and cared for in your cottage. A lovely pace to spend evenings. Thinking about trying dog sledding next winter!
