Situated one hour from the Cascade Mountains and one hour from the Pacific coast, Portland serves as a convenient hub for the area's excellent outdoor adventure opportunities -- from summer hiking and mountain biking to winter snowboarding and downhill skiing on Mt. Hood, and kayaking and fishing on the nearby Columbia River. Portland, an environmentally friendly town, has revitalized its waterfront along the Willamette River as part of an overall commitment to responsible urban development. Here is one of only three U.S.-based sake manufacturers, where you can tour the facility and participate in a sake tasting. Foodies are starting to recognize Portland for its flourishing restaurant scene, especially in the Pearl River warehouse/loft neighborhood. There is also nearby Willamette Valley, a wine region touted for its up-and-coming Pinot Noirs.

Review of Historic Landmark Home in Portland

While attending a wedding in Portland, we stayed at Francenes home. It is as listed, a beautiful historic home which she has and continues to maintain and restore. We had 6 in our party, and found the house quite comfortable and convienient to our weekend activities. It is close to downtown with easy access and offstreet parking. The home was clean, well maintained, with unique architecture throughout, and a very pleasant hostess. We would definately stay there again.

Magnificent value for money

Review Submitted: January 31, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
I recently spent 5 days with Francene at her beautiful home in Portland. The house appealed to me on the internet as it was "unusual". The hostess could not have been more helpful to me from the time of my enquiry to the day I left. The house was a step b ack in time to an immaculately clean, well maintained home. It had everything an overseas traveller would be looking for in a rental. It was a true home away from home. Property is close to the airport, close to the city, close to public transport, large shopping centre at hand. THis property was excellent value for money and it is highly recommended.

Several family members and I were delighted to spend a weekend at this lovely home. Francene was a warm and gracious hostess, the house was beautiful, comfortable, conveniently located (near Max, bus lines, and a variety of dining & shopping choices)and the feline companionship made it feel like home. I would highly recommend this property for your stay in Portland.

We first read about this fascinating "castle" home in the spring 2007 isssue of American Bungalow and were delighted when we learned it was actually available for an overnight stay. We loved the pleasant atmosphere and you can't beat the easy access to surrounding activities with the MAX and bus line so close by. Great place to visit!

We stayed at Francene's place for a wedding and loved
it! There were 5 of us and it was such a delight to be in this
gorgeous home with wonderful outdoor space instead of cooped up in
the hotel with the rest of the guests. It is a fantastic place with
lots of neat nooks and crannies and is super close to a very cool
neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants and bars! We will be
back!
