Home away from home

My husband and I stayed at Michelle's apartment right outside Porta Saragossa in Bologna for a week. This was our favorite apartment among several rentals in Italy, particularly for its location in a beautiful house set in a garden behind a gate. It was well designed for efficient use. The kitchen particularly was easy to use and keep clean and was well stocked by Michelle with a full assortment of food, some homemade, that met our needs all week long. With markets near-by we wanted to cook, and when we didn't, there were several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. The apartment had ceiling fans and good cross ventilation, so we were comfortable and never needed to resort to air conditioning. The apartment is convenient to the town center in one direction and San Luca monastery in the other, by foot or the 20 bus, or to other more distant parts of town by the circular bus with stops right at Saragossa Gate. There were also several theaters, both movie and drama, right in our neighborhood. Living in this apartment we could get a feeling for what it was like to live in Bologna as residents, which is what we sought. We would definitely recommend this apartment to others and hope to return ourselves.
