A perfect retreat for groups that want to visit or just a couple. The lodge is a two story modern rock home located on 1280 acre ranch. It is totally private home, no neighbors. It is located in the beautiful hill country in one of the most diverse geological locations in Texas. It is fully 20 miles from any small town which makes it a star gazers dream, and the perfect place to unwind to the sounds of nature. Enjoy the nature trails, deer, and birds. See Texas as it was. It is optional, but everyone enjoys the ranch tour which includes some amazing history, old settlements,250 year old wagon trail, buffalo wallers, and a 60 mile view of the Llano uplift, and nature walk.Catch and release bass and catfish. Feed a cow herd. See a Long Horn.Visit Colorado Bend State Park, the Eckert James River Bat cave, the second largest Mexican freetail bat cave in the world, Enchanted Rock, Vanishing River Cruise,Jeep Rock Climbing at Katemcy rocks. Activities:: Many guests visit Colorado Bend State Park(San Saba Co), the Eckert James River Bat cave(Mason Co), Enchanted Rock(Llano County), Vanishing River Cruise(Burnet County), and go see Jeep Rock Climbing at Katemcy rocks(Mason County). See Internet for information.

This is a wonderful place to unwind, but it is remote. There are no nearby stores. Remember you will be in the middle of a Texas ranch. You will need to bring your own food. You will be equal distance for Brady, San Saba, Mason, and Llano. Llano has a place called Miller's Llano Smokehouse and Mercantile that can make you some excellent meat and cheese snack plates. They have won many awards for their meats. They can make a plate for any number. I can accommodate you on getting the snack plates ordered and delivered.

Golf: All the towns around Pontotoc have golf courses. The best would be Llano, which has some beautiful holes along side the Llano River, and the San Saba course located along the San Saba river under massive Pecan Trees.

A wonderful way to spend a long weekend

A small group of my friends and I decided we needed a weekend away from it all. This property and home met all of our expectations and more. None of us wanted to come back home when it was time to leave. The home was exactly as described with no unwelcome surprises.

The kitchen provided us the opportunity to cook to our hearts content. We brought along a friend of ours who is studying to be a chef and we were cooking and cleaning all weekend long. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils needed to cook our delicious meals.

Stanley helped make our experience even better by giving us a ranch tour that gave us the opportunity to see the beautiful untouched land around the property, including an old hand-dug well! The area is so rich with history and Stanley told us of many historical things that happened on and around the property dating back to when the Indians occupied the area. There is even an old Wagon Trail that cuts through the property that was used by pioneers traveling around the Hill Country.

So take a weekend and go visit Pontotoc Lodge. Its an easy and relaxing drive from Austin. My friends and I highly recommend this home.

A great place to make memories

We spent a long spring-break weekend with 7 grandkids and brought along my husband's 91 year-old Mom. What a wonderful place for the family to be together! The ranch house is comfortable, clean, very nicely decorated, and has everything you need to have a great time. We had lots of fun inside and outside. The house and yard were perfect and safe for both our mother and the youngest grandchild. The teenagers loved the upstairs bedrooms and the privacy they had.
The ranch tour with Stanley's great knowledge of the history of the land and feeding the cattle are things our grandkkids will talk about for a long time!
Pontonoc Lodge is the perfect balance of comfort, outdoor activities, seclusion, and relaxation. Thank you for providing the perfect place for our family to make memories!

My family stayed at this ranch for 5 days and were not ready to come home! We took our bikes rode on the trails & dirt roads. We hiked through the property. The kids climbed the trees and made a swing from one of the trees in the front yard. There are deer, cows, rabbits, fox & an armadillo named Hopscotch! This place has all the amenities of home just not the hustle and bustle! We took the tour of the ranch and it was awesome and there are such great stories of the history of the property.We cooked, we built a fire in the backyard pit and watch the stars and ate outside! We have been lots of places but this had to be the most relaxing and the kids had lots of room to run around! There are also lots of small towns to visit and rock climbing and rivers/lakes! We can't wait to go back!
