Gracious living in a serene atmosphere. Lovely open concept for easy, relaxed living. A 3 min. walk down the path to three miles of fabulous Popham Beach that remains the way it has always been, private and untouched by commercialism. The first floor offers large user friendly kitchen, dining area, and spacious living room with wood stove, deck on south end and screen porch on the west. Full bath with washer/dryer, enhanced by water softener system. Second floor is the master bedroom suite with private deck, walk in closet, full bath with claw foot soaking tub. This is an ideal location, away from the crowds and traffic, with only a few cottages nearby. You have the best of both worlds, enveloped in nature with woodland creatures, birds & peepers, while sinking into bed at night with the roar of the surf lulling you to sleep.

Popham Colony was established in 1607 and boasts two forts. As you arrive you'll see Fort Popham overlooking the Kennebec River that flows into the Atlantic Ocean and Atkins Bay, where the first colonists settled. A short uphill hike takes you to Fort Baldwin, enjoy spectacular views, several islands, 2 of which have lighthouses. Nearby Morse's Mtn. is a 2 mile hike that empties you onto 3 additional miles of beach, separated from Popham Beach by Morse's River. There are two restaurants here, & 3 more within 5 miles, including Sebasco Harbor Resort with lovely golf and tennis courts. Nearby Bath offers quality antique & specialty shops. A few miles south puts you in Freeport, home of LL Bean, with numerous restaurants and outlet stores. Sight seeing up & down the Maine Coast, north to Boothbay Harbor & Bar Harbor, or south to Portland, Kennebunk and Wells, all teeming with art galleries and Maine made crafts from blueberry jelly & maple syrup to carved loons and woven fabrics.

Popham Beach is the one place I have returned to year after year, since discovering it in the early '60's. This beach, in all its infinite glory, offers me solace, comfort, and inner peace. There were times during my years of traveling when I was seldom able to be here. Other years, I could only spend an hour or two enjoying a long beach walk, exalting in this utter simplicity that rarely exists any longer, on either coast line. The beach works its magic in me, exchanging the overload of positive ions and balancing out with negative ones. The waves reset my bio rhythms. Now I wish to share this out of the way gem with you by offering you the opportunity to make Popham Beach whatever you want it to be - A romantic get away, a time out for the family, or just to spend time in Maine, the way life should be.

We stayed here with our two children and my mother-in-law in July 2008 and it was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet and perfect.

The house is beautiful and very confortable (master bed room is dream like). The owner keeps this house in tip-top condition and very clean. It is nicely furnished and has everything you look for in a beach house; airy, plenty of natural light and relaxed. We would've stayed another week, it was so perfect.

The owner graciously welcomed our early arrival, letting use the fridge for our groceries and bathroom to change into beachware. She made us feel welcomed like guests and not renters.

The beach and area are spectacular. Unspoiled, wild and beautiful...
I've been renting for 25 years in Biddeford Pool and never have I been welcomed this way.
