3/4 wrap around porch;trellis patio seating area softly nestled in climbing vines and beautiful gardens with winding path and seating area overlooking garden pools and trickling waterfall. Large living room with cathedral ceiling, large stone fireplace, window benches, open dining room, small well stocked kitchen. Short walk to private beaches and a lookout point of Casco Bay and nearby Islands.
This cottage was perfect for us (couple with child) for a week of vacation. The kitchen was well stocked, bedroom for the child and enough room for him to run around, and decent size master bedroom. The cottage was also very clean, well organized and up to date.
It is perfect location to talk a 5 minute walk to the rocky shore with a high view or to get near the water. If you are looking for sandy beach area this is not the location however you are a short drive to several sandy beaches (Willard, Crescent, and even Old Orchard is about 45 min.).
We would definitly consider coming back to this exact cottage.
My husband, bulldog and I have been fortunate enough to spend two vacations here - so far. Once in 2008 and just this past September. The cottage is beautifully cozy, yet provides plenty of space - in seperate bedrooms - for overnight guests. It's tastefully decorated with just the perfect touch of Maine charm.
Though the very fun city of Portland is just right over the bridge, we found ourselves most interested in just enjoying what the cottage had to offer: sitting on the window beds in the sun reading; enjoying cocktails in the adirondacks in the yard; or grilling and entertaining on the porch. (We did quite a bit of entertaining, actually - my father's 70th birthday party and dinners with friends whom we don't get to see often enough.... Angela's cottage is perfectly stocked with all the cooking and serving items needed to pull it all off.) Also, she's gone hi-tech - the cottage is now outfitted with wi-fi and ipod speakers. She's appears to be an avid gardener too, as the lawn and the flowers are stunning.
The cottage feels nicely secluded and offers the perfect level of quiet - especially for a girl who visits from Brooklyn! But a short walk away and the ocean's edge awaits - a peaceful, gorgeous place to enjoy one's morning coffee or late afternoon wine!
The beaches nearby are beautiful - and free! And don't forget to go to Two Lights 'lobstah' shack, close enough to ride your bike to!
Angela provides great intel on places to go and restaurants to eat at - she makes a very helpful guide. Be sure to check out Street & Co for dinner, followed by a local beer at Gritty's in the Old Port!
We had a most amazing experience. It really is a quintessential Maine vacation!
The hard part is leaving... We cant wait to go back!
Well maintained house. Beautiful garden! Fine service. Owner is very helpful and considerate. Gorgeous beaches in the neighborhood. My only concern is that, for the space, the house is perhaps a little pricey in these challenging economic times...
