I miss it already!

This was one of those few perfect vacations! This was our 25th anniversary and we wanted to treat ourselves by going someplace neither of us as been before - - which is tough, as my husband travels 2-3 weeks of every month for work! We wanted somewhere where we would not get caught up in what I call that "tourist chaos" you often find in other vacation spots, somewhere where we could unplug, spread out, relax and get away from the stresses of life. The house was everything the description said it would be. This is clearly was a well-cared for home and not just a rental. Taos and other nearby towns were fun and welcoming - - you could be as busy and sociable as you wanted to be, and there didn't seem to be the division between "locals" and "tourists" that you often find while on vacation. Red River, a nearby ski area, was a wonderful surprise we stumbled on while driving through the mountains. I get the feeling this is a New Mexico secret - - a Breckenridge or Frisco before the rest of the country discovered them. And we enjoyed an afternoon exploring the Rio Grande Gorge from a nearby local access point that Tammi/KC directed us to, rather than the usual ones in the tourist guides. The whole area was stunningly beautiful and the fall colors were a bonus. We sat in the hot tub every evening, let the stars swallow us up and watched the nearly full moon rise. KC and Tammi made sure our every possible need/want was met, including a long list of local hangouts and making sure we were comfortable during a week when temperatures varied widely. We left relaxed, re-energized and ready to face real life again, and we will definitely try to come back.
