Location Location Location.

The Seine and Pont Neuf are steps out the door. The apartment is two court yards back from the street so extremely quiet. The entire 1660's building and apartment have been recently renovated and are both well maintained; the inside experience of the country on an animated street in the heart of Paris. The walking distance to the Seine River is 1 minute and to Metro stations: Odeon, Saint Michel and Pont Neuf, Mabillon and Saint Germain des Pres no more than 2 to 5. The neighborhood is loaded with great restaurants, shops, cafés. The Supermarket is close and the wonderful food shops are endless. The apartment is 4 1/2 flight walk up and there is no elevator in the building.

APARTMENT EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS

We stayed the third week of June with our granddaughters, ages 11 and 14. We found the apartment fit our needs perfectly.

The bed was comfortable and the AeroBed worked for our granddaughters. Having the extra 1/2 bath kept the bathroom waits to a minimum. The main bathroom is huge. Best of all, the apartment is very quiet - even on the weekend when the neighborhood was lively.

The kitchen worked great for the meals we ate at "home". Breakfasts were special with croissants purchased each morning from nearby Eric Kayser boulangerie and coffee (the kitchen had two different ways to make coffee) made with fresh roasted beans purchased from a local coffee shop.

After a hard day of sightseeing, it was nice to relax in the apartment with wine, bread and cheese, all purchased from neighborhood businesses. With the free wifi and phone, we could catch up on emails, brag about our fab day on social media, or call home.

The washer and drying rack made it easy to get by with packing light. We ran a load at night and hung the clothes on the rack in the morning. Things were dry by the evening.

The location was charming and in an upbeat location. There were lots of activities, bistros and bars; the weekend was even livelier. You are in the center of many of the "must see" Paris attractions. We walked to Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, and even the Eiffel Tower. Strolling down the Rive Gauche nightly is as simple as going a few steps out your front door. There were two close Metro stops and several other stops nearby so it was easy to choose a metro stop that served lines that best fit our needs for that trip. ((No transfers!)

Please note that the apartment is on the top floor with 79 stairs, my granddaughters claim they counted; this apartment would not be appropriate for those with poor health or mobility problems.

Making arrangements with Scott, the owner, was fast and easy. Emails were always answered promptly. Note - our security deposed was returned to us the day after we left.

Laurent, the Paris contact, met us promptly at our arranged meeting time and thoroughly reviewed the apartment with us, e.g. TV, Internet, phone, washer, and locks. Laurent had maps available with the locations of a grocery store, boulangerie and a list of restaurants. Laurent was like having a Paris friend.

It seemed like Scott and Laurent had thought of everything we might need. The only thing the apartment seemed to be missing

EXCELLENT LOCATION, CLEAN, HAS WASHING MACHINE

We (2 adults, 2 children) had a great time. A friend of the owner, Laurent, met us for check-in. He gave us good advice regarding getting around, helped us arrange taxi upon our departure, was available to help with any issues (helped me with use of TV and cable box). The apartment was well-appointed; neighborhood was quiet; beds were very comfortable. Scott was great to work with; he gave useful advice prior to my arrival as I planned sightseeing and activities for myself and my family. I would highly recommend this property.

THE PERFECT PARIS APARTMENT!

My daughter and I stayed in this gorgeous apartment for one week over the New Year period. It is truly a great find and a perfect base to explore this amazing city. The location is perfect for sightseeing and for some great local restaurants and cafes. The apartment itself is very large, equipped with everything you will need for your Paris stay and spotlessly clean. Yes, it is up quite a few flights of stairs but the exercise feels good after eating creme brulee!
It was also hassle free booking with Scott, and Laurent met us at the time stated to show us in, was very welcoming and made sure we knew where everything was in the apartment. His recommendation for local restaurant, Chez Fernand was greatly appreciated too as this meal was amazing and the best meal in fact we ate on our 4 week Europe holiday!
Would highly recommend this apartment and would definitely book another stay here if we return to Paris.

THE PLACE TO STAY IN PARIS

Staying in this charming apartment in St. Germaine, just a 2-min walk from the Seine, was a life-changing experience and the reason why we are in love with this remarkable city.
First, the apartment itself: on the top floor of a perfectly located complex that's accessible through a quaint courtyard and security door), 20 Rue Dauphine boasts dormer windows in the upstairs loft, fully stocked kitchen (for making breakfast and dinner after a 5-minute walk to the produce and cheese stalls), original exposed beams, shabby chic decor against an architecturally modern design. Large loft bathroom that's just plain cool! Views from all windows in the loft, living/dining room and kitchen of a quiet, Parisian courtyard.
If we could talk Scott into selling it to us (although how could he part with it?), we'd buy it in a Paris minute!
Quaint dining/living room with window to the courtyard. And did we mention the incredible kitchen, dishwasher, cute. (Also with windows overlooking the courtyard.)
Free wifi a bonus, free phone calls to US.
The location simply can't be beat. 10-15 min walk to Latin Qtr. Less than 5 to Notre Dame. Basically no walk at all to incredible boutiques, galleries, restaurants, food stalls, bars...just walk out the big entry courtyard door!
Finally, property owner, Scott Slater and manager Laurent Gehanne couldn't have been more of a pleasure to work with. This was our first time using Homeaway and renting someone's property. And doing so outside of the US comes with its anxiety about what you'll experience when you get there. Scott and Laurent were responsive during the rental process making it quick and simple and setting our minds at ease. Upon arriving at the property, Laurent spent such great time with us showing the rental and explaining every detail...right down to restaurant and shopping recommendations in the neighborhood (which he was dead on about!). We can't wait to work with them again, and will never stay anywhere else when we frequent Paris.

INCREDIBLE LOCATION - CANNOT BE BETTERED

The location was incredible. Very clean, amazing customer service. Has all the modern amenities, such as washer, dryer, free international call and Wi-Fi. Has a TV with countless channels but we did not turn it on.
Close to the major attractions. You can walk everywhere. Just 100 meters from the river and close to the Batubus (riverbus taxi), Notre Dame, Louvre, Musee D'Orsay and other attractions. Each morning we would go to the boulangerie downstairs and pick up fresh croissants. The communication and process was extremely easy and convenient with Scott and the manager Laurent was extremely helpful and guided us very well with restaurant (for all budgets) and grocery recommendations, which were all very close and every other sort of question imaginable, especially from my kids. He was always available as well for any queries that we had. I will certainly be using Scott's flat next time I come back to Paris, can't imagine staying anywhere else actually. My wife and I had the bedroom in the mezzanine which was lovely and the kids (8 & 11) had the air mattress downstairs. Loved the charm of the 400 year old building with has the original rafters but all modern amenities.
We were there for four days: Things I would recommend:
You must get the museum pass - This will save you countless hours in queues, we walked straight into the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay, saving at least a couple of hours each time. A few others such as Notre Dame, you have to still line up but you don't have to pay. Just the time saving alone is worth the money. Does not work for the Eiffel Tower though.
Don't need a Metro pass, get a carnet (book of ten, adults or kids) from the tabac, (part of the restaurant (first meal in Paris, directly opposite the flat). You will walk most places.
We got the batubus , just a pleasant way to go to the different sites, by river taxi, you can get a one day or two day pass.
We walked the first two stages of the Eiffel tower with the kids, lines were a lot shorter, walk was easy, nice to see the view progression and more fun than the actual crush at the top of the tower itself.
For younger kids - mine loved the chocolate museum with its demonstration, you get samples and enjoyable and not what I originally expected to do in Paris.

Can't recommend the location, the great size (for Paris) of the apartment, or the service and communication with Scott and Laurent highly enough and I can't wait to go back.

EXCELLENTE!

As others have noted, the apartment is wonderful -- excellent location, extremely convenient, and overall A++++++. Both Scott (the owner) and Laurent (the local "facilitator"), tries everything to make sure the stay goes well. It is as if you are at a relative's place where they want to make sure you have a good time. They were a phone call away if we had any questions or problems.

I agree with the other reviews and am including information that I didn't notice before -- while Paris is expensive, there are convenient ways to minimize costs -- the grocery store is close by and we often went there to pick up breakfast, lunch/sandwich and snack items -- there is a close fruit and vegetable stand, a great place to buy fresh sandwiches and salads, and, of course, bakeries, ice cream shops, etc.; even an inexpensive crepe place down the block just in case we could eat one more thing before our night ended. Close by restaurants were good and some were not very expensive. Scott and Laurent recommended restaurants at our request. There is a nearby laundromat in case you want to dry your clothes (the apt. has a washing machine and a drying rack - another convenience).

We took advantage of walking tours that started nearby and learned more about local places -- movie theater, jazz clubs, etc.that we visited during our stay.

There are stairs to negotiate -- 4 1/2 flights -- the apt. is on the top floor so the spacious windows can be opened -- a very nice feature of the apt.

On the main floor, there is a couch and an AeroBed for sleeping in the living room area along with a 1/2 bathroom and a full kitchen. The loft has a bed with great windows above that you can open and a great, large bathroom. Very efficient layout.

I highly recommend this apt. for fellow travelers -- We stayed 8 nights in April and it worked out great.
