About Mariano Vega, Jr.

I am a City guy, born in the rainforest of Puerto Rico and I enjoy the outdoors. Weeping Willow provided an opportunity to restore a Queen Anne Victorian to modern standards, while addressing the Secretary of Interior Historic Preservation guidelines and creating a wonderful vacation home for my family and in anticipation of my grandkids.

Mariano Vega, Jr. purchased this house in 2005

Why Mariano Vega, Jr. chose Belleayre Mountain

I have been skiing the Catskills Mountains for over 50 years and after my daughter graduated from college, we finally purchased a vacation home for our family use, in anticipation of our grandchildren. Weeping Willow is a very large historic Queen Anne Victorian which has been meticulously restored and designed for comfort and modern conveniences. It is well suited for family reunions, large group gatherings and weddings.

What makes this house unique

As a former Bed and Breakfast, Weeping Willow is very large and ideal large families and for multiple family gatherings, reunion, weddings with the modern comforts in a getaway setting. The side yard is large for weddings, reunion and for the kids to play and directly across the street is the Village Park and down the street is the Village pool.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Dinero Family plus assorted siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins (20 in all) from Rochester, Massapequa Pk, Long Island, Brooklyn, Flemington NJ, and Fayetteville NY arrived for the 2014 Thanksgiving week to enjoy the Family Thanksgiving. The temperature varied from 65' down to 13" at night but we hung out, ate, went to Brios in Phoenicia, cooked a huge Thanksgiving meal, hosted a visit from relatives who live in Roxbury, went sledding at their house,.played games and stayed up super late! Met the lovely white dog who patrols the neighborhood. We would recommend Freshfoods in Margaretville, the new gym in Arkville, Brios pizza and restaurant in Phoenicia, and Oakley's Pizza in Arkville.. The highlights of our time was spent with family who we don't see often in plenty of space so we could all do our won thing, exploring the kitchen - OMG you DO have everything! The whole week was just great! We do have to return some day - but we are definitely bragging about our stay here to everyone! Thanks much - we did have a wonderful time.

Wonderful, Roomy Vacation Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We and another family enjoyed staying here over Christmas vacation and skiing at nearby Bellayre Mountain, which is under five minutes away. The home could not be lovelier or more charmingly decorated. Even with two families, this spacious home allowed plenty of comfort and privacy. Cooking for a crowd was easy and fun in the very equipped kitchen. We would love to come back here again!

Relaxing family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The Weeping Willow Getaway is the perfect place to have a relaxing and/or adventurous time away from home with family or friends. This home is clean and comfortable and extremely well equipped! Our son has some food allergies so we tend to cook all of our meals and I can't say how perfect the kitchen is! The Viking stove and selection of top notch pots/pans made our stay perfect! The beds were comfy and they had plenty of pillows and clean towels waiting for us. There is an open field across the street, perfect for kids to work off some energy and a beautiful stream just beyond the field. It kept our kids entertained for hours! There is also a great assortment of movies and video games for rainy days inside. Can't say enough about this beautiful, well equipped and impeccably maintained home, we'll definitely be visiting again soon!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review. I am pleased that you found Weeping Willow relaxing clean and comfortable, just as I was hoping you would find it. My sweet spot is the kitchen where the Chef in me appreciates what you have discovered - everything that you need to make your stay perfect. This past year was a year of renewal for Weeping Willow in-as-much as I was able to replace the pillows towels and comforters, just as you have reaffirmed. During the Spring and Summer I too enjoy the Creek for swimming and fishing. I am looking forward to having you return real soon.

Beautiful family getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to step out of daily routine into a warm home dedicated for every member of the family and friends! This place was equipped with entertainment, art, history, and nature for everyone to appreciate! There is enough space to roam different areas of the home. Each room was cozy,as well as, comfortable. I must say I appreciate beautiful bathrooms, where one can relax. This house did not disappoint! Also, a park located right infront for kids to enjoy while supervising from the front porch! There is a beautiful backyard with a spacious deck for cold nights by the fire. Wifi is also available; however there are many local places and things to do! Located in the Catskills, there are mountains which provide countless of activities all year around. We went snowboarding at Belleayre, which was a 5 min drive. We also stopped by a local grocery store which provided fresh food from the local community! The maple sryup made by a neighboring local was delicious and worth the purchase! I would love return again.

Linens and towels- fresh and clean

Xbox, wifi, dvd, vhs, cable on flat screen TVs- great quality

Sleeping arrangements- comfortable beds and 2 cribs provided for younglings.

Great customer service. I would recommend this place to everyone wanting to visit the Catskills.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a glowing review of your stay at Weeping Willow. I am pleased that you found what makes Weeping Willow so special...the entertainment, art, history and best of all natural beauty of the mountains. We are constantly doing improvements such as the new bathroom in the basement, new towels and comforters which add the comfort equation as we keep an eye out for more period antiques to complement the Queen Anne Victorian "Painted Lady". Consider returning during the summer and you will rediscover the magic of the mountains.

Awesome House! Always an impressive visit!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented this house for our annual ski trip for the past several years. The house is so cute, cozy and stocked with everything you need! The Viking kitchen is amazing and there is literally every appliance, small appliance, utensils, pots/pans you can think of. It is a true gourmet kitchen and we easily created larges feasts for the group. The rooms are very comfortable with down comforters and pillows, quilts and also towels. There is a tv room you can relax in, a dining room were you can share a meal or just hang out, and a sitting room with a fire place. The house is conveniently located to the grocery store, liquor store and Belleayre Mountain. Our group truly loves staying here. We will be back!

Brazilian family ski weekend gateway

  • 5 of 5

Brazilian family and friends gatherd at Weeping Willow for a ski weekend. The owner of the House (Mariano Vega) welcomed us and spent the weekend with us. He maintains this property in a great conditions, I was impressed by the Historic house with so many HDTV in different rooms, it doesn't feel like a rental, actually I slept so well that I didn't realize that I wasn't in my onw bed. I had an opportunity to relive moments like real family, waking up with a great breakfasts every morning. We all enjoyed our stay and shared great memories. Great accomodation for 22 people to stay and sleep comfortable. The ski mountain, Belleayre Mountain, is near by and I could not expect for better vacation experience. Highly recommended for all ages.
