Trainwatching at its best

scbuzzman Charleston, SC
Review Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
This is a great location for seeing plenty of train action, and the back porch is perfectly suited for watching - high powered ceiling fan to keep the bugs off, and close enough to walk out to the tracks if you want to. It's also walking distance to the local viewing platform and downtown. The accomodations are larger than your average hotel room, extremely clean, and very nicely decorated. The kitchen and bath have both been updated and are very modern. If you love trains, this is a can't miss!

Train Watchers Haven

Train Lover Florida
Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Roadmaster's Lodge was a great spot if you love trains, as we do. The Lodge was pleasant and clean. It was well furnished with just about everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed a week.
The Lodge is furnished in period style. The bathroom had a great shower with plenty of room.
If you wanted to stay in and cook, there was a charcoal grill and enough pots and pans. We ate out a lot. Some of the restaurants we expected to find were closed. We ate a couple times at the Okefenokee Restaurant, which was very good. They have a buffet at night now, also. We got barbeque which was very good. We did not care for Mikey's Pizza.

Wonderful Stay at the Lodge

ChessieSystem Spring Hill, Florida, USA
Review Submitted: April 20, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Me and my 11 year old son stayed at the Lodge when we went to Folkston to Train Watch in April 2009 and enjoyed it.

We didn't have to remain at the Platform, but could sit on the back porch and watch the trains.

Everything we needed was available to us and look forward to staying again in the summer.

We would recommend this location to stay in and yes the trains run at night, but I enjoyed it.

Folkston, Ga. Hospitality At It's Best!!!

Review Submitted: October 24, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
If you aren't a Rail Fan, you will be!!!
James & Sarah have a diamond in the rough & are continuosly polishing it. Close, but just far enough away, for privacy from the Folkston Funnel. Close to the tracks & to all neccessities (grocery, restaurants, train museum, etc.)!!!
I just returned from a 3 night stay & would highly suggest serious consideration for those who are looking for a great little get away!!!! Couples or a bachelor's trip to watch the trains & explore the Okefenokee Swamp, it doesn't matter the Lewis Family will make sure you feel at home!!!

Great Train Watching

over1861 Greene County Georgia
Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Stayed one night to watch trains. Wish I could have stayed more. The lodge is small but bigger than an average motel room. Nice kitchen. Nice bathroom. Bedroom and sitting area are together but plenty big enough. Bed very comfortable. Back porch big enough for 4 or 5 people to sit and watch trains. Porch has overhead fan. If you love to watch trains this is a great place to stay. The young couple that own it also own the office printing store next door. They were both very nice people. Someone you expect to find in a small Southern town.
