South Padre Island Vacation Rental condo

Our condo was exactly as described online and the decor looked even better than on the website photos and these drew me to choosing it in the first place! We discovered a clean, neat, well-maintained, adequately supplied and quiet vacation home which was three minutes-walking distance from the beach. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather throughout our stay. Highlights for me were horseback riding on the beach, watching a sunset overlooking the bay and a dolphin watch. The owner went out of her way to make us welcome and to provide us with good restaurant recommendations as well as tell me about a specialty foods store I was looking for. She even went so far as to call me on my return home to let me know that I had left a book behind in the condo. I have already recommended our vacation place to a friend and look forward to returning again in the future.

I don't know what the previous reviewer was talking about. The place was VERY clean. The kitchen was well stocked with complete sets of dishes, pans etc. There were even cake pans. The place looked exactly like the photos if not better.


We loved it. We came here on our honeymoon and the owner left us a goody bag, a bottle of champagne, and a card! We got to take our dog too for a very minimal fee. The kitchen was huge and well stocked. The washer and dryer came in very handy. The place was pretty quiet for the most part. It started getting a little busy the weekend of Easter but that is to be expected. I wish we had a view, but you really can't complain when the beach is less than a minutes walk away. I also really liked the fact that we were not in the heart of hotel district. It made the atmosphere a lot more relaxed.

The place was great. If you ask me, it was better than staying in a hotel with a lot more to offer (especially if you prefer to cook your own food). The place was definately a nice, clean, quality establishment. I would definately recommend this place, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Some suggestions to people coming to South Padre for the first time:
Get bottled water. South Padre tap water (including in the restaurants) is not the tastiest. We didn't run into this problem in Port Isabel though. The owner of the condo suggested Wana Wana for a relaxed little bar on the beach. We enjoyed the ceviche there. For a really nice upscale (but not stuffy) restaurant check out the Sea Ranch. The South Padre Brew Co. had some good deals on beer. Refills on growlers during happy hour were really well priced. For better prices on groceries go to the HEB in Port Isabel.

The owner was very gracious and the location is north of the center of the spring break activity, a short walk to the beach. The carpets were dirty and the ceiling fans were black with dirt. The drawers of the bedroom dresser were broken and the kitchen lacked some basic equipment like a corkscrew and any frying/saute' pans. The remainder was a hodge-podge of 'stuff' some of which I would not have fed our cat on. Some light bulbs were burnt out and the TV remote worked intermittently. The toilet would flush if you stood by and held the handle down. There were missing towels and one that was furnished looked like it had been used at one time to clean the place. Basically, an owner that either is too busy to check her rentals or doesn't care. To her credit when asked to furnish adequate towels and a fry pan she expeditiously brought them to the condo with apologies.
