Very Disappointed

Our family stayed at this property Christmas/New Years week (December 2008). While the house was well situated and spacious enough for five people, we were very disappointed in the way the house was maintained. The outdoor lounge chairs were broken and the cushions were filthy, most of the dishes were chipped and some were cracked (in fact one bowl spilt apart when we tried to use it!), the Teflon frying pans were so scratched up that they were unusable, the grill was left dirty and the brush to clean it was so full of caked-on grease that it was unusable, the refrigerator was left with old food that we had to clean out, and the washing machine was left with an old dirty rug in it, and had to be cleaned as well. In addition, although we were told that a”pool guy” comes regularly to clean the pool, we spent the week with debris at the bottom of the pool! I only wish I could post the pictures I took of these conditions in this review, so you could see for yourself. This is not what we expected from a luxury vacation rental!
Owner's Response: I cannot understand why these renters would leave such a scathing review. I don't like to be argumentative but I feel compelled to respond because it is such an unfair and unreasonable review.
These renters would not have been happy anywhere they stayed. I hope that you will look at the other reviews that are glowing - and there are many other happy renters who have not posted reviews. I think these renters had unrealistic expectations for a vacation rental. We addressed all of their concerns immediately, even if they seemed unreasonable for a self-catering property.
We have rented this property so many times to hundreds of renters over the years and have never had a problem.
Yes, a dish was chipped, and one broke - but that happens in a vacation rental. We have replaced some of the dishes since this renter, as we always do. But the house was immaculately clean for these renters. The outdoor lounges were not broken - one had a loose strap and they definitely had lounge cushions that were not dirty as stated, but in very usable condition. We have new lounges at this time. The pool guys come twice a week to clean the pool - they might not have seen them. The debris on the bottom of the pool was a few leaves - we do get some wind in Palm Springs and the pool guys come twice a week to clean the pool. And we leave a net for renters to use in the meantime. The pool and spa are brand new and the was heated for their visit - totally usable.
You will not find a better value than this house and I hope that you will be one of our future happy renters.
