About Robin

I am a graduate of The George Wasington University, Unity School of Christianity, Center of the Light Massage School. I am a Licensed Unity Teacher performing weddings for visitors since 1994, and Licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in sports, medical and cranial massage since 1985. Visit my websites: and

Robin purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Robin chose Bar Harbor

I bought this property because it is walking distance: to the Y for workouts; downtown for coffee/breakfast, theatre, shopping; and walking distance into Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor's Shore Path, or The Bar Harbor Sandbar for a great walk with my dog!

My house is on the street and the cottage is behind it nestled in the trees. If you need some advice for dinner reservations, a hike, how/when to get to our famous Sand Bar for a great walk, just knock on my back door! I feel I am accessable yet very respectful of peoples' privacy.

What makes this cottage unique

Centrally located next to Acadia National Park makes my cottage a great place for any vacation! Staying here, you are 10 to 25 minutes from ALL there is to see in Acadia National Park and on our island, Mount Desert Island. Once you cross the causeway from the Mainland, you enter a magical, natural, outdoor paradise on an island surrounded by the sea. Ocean views abound; Mountains rising up, topped by blue sky, white fluffy clouds, or the crimson red/pink/gold of a sunrise or sunset take your breath away and keep you in awe of Nature's Beauty! Hike, kayak, canoe, mountain bike by day, and then enjoy some of the finest cooking at our local Bar Harbor Restaurants. Catch a free concert on the Village Green; stroll to an outdoor bar for a cocktail; go to a movie; browse through galleries and shops! Children will love exploring the seabed plants and creatures on the Bar Harbor Sandbar, going to the Oceanarium and learning about them, or sailing with Diver Ed to see (and feel!) the creatures living on the bottom of Frenchman's Bay! Go out with a Maine Guide and explore the Bay by Kayak, climb rock cliffs in Acadia, or rent a bike and explore the 45 miles of carriage roads., or hike on various skill level trails in the 125 mile system! Swim at fresh or saltwater beaches. Drive the 27 mile Park Loop Road and explore along the way - usually takes 3-4 hours! And after all that, there will still be places to explore on your next visit! That is why Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are among the most visited National Parks in the US!

Not pleasant

  • 2 of 5

It was a non pleasant experience for us. What you can't see on the pictures is that the place is tiny... Maybe for summer when you can use a yard its not a problem - but off season its just not enough space even for 3 people. (Table for example can only accommodate 2 people and 2nd level - it's only a mattress and you can not stand there - you have to crawl to the bed.

coffee machine was dirty from previous guests.

Robin was a very controversial host - from one side she showed us around and gave us plenty very useful tips how to get around, but then she complained we opened tiny window for 2 inches to get fresh air - we were "waisting fuel", she suggested to use sprays.... The place is smelly by itself and sprays only make things worse - I am not saying that my husband was allergic to it.

Yes it was mentioned upfront, but still I find it a bit odd we had to bring our own sheets and towels or pay for their rent extra..

Last but not least - I just think price/quality ratio is not there with this listing.

Not coming back, not recommending for more than 2 people, espessially off season.

Owner's Response: I encourage all prospective guests to read my extensive property description details and view the photos! Please call or email me if you have any questions, special needs, or allergy concerns. My cottage works well as an economical family bunkhouse (2 adults and 2 to 3 children), or a cozy, quiet getaway for couples. My location is perfect to turn Left out the drive and walk to brunch, dinner, a movie or turn Right and hike or bike right into Acadia National Park! The Queen mattress is on the floor of the roof peak loft as pictured in my listing; and the double bed futon and cot are on the first floor. The folding dining table seats 4 people when you extend the folded sides. My kitchen has a full stove with oven, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, double sink, and all the dishes and utensils you would need to eat in or barbeque on the outdoor gas grill! We are only 2 blocks from the ocean, and that makes for fabulous ocean view walks but can also provide some Maine Coast fog or dampness in colder weather. Maine has 4 distinct seasons, each with its particular charms, variations in temperatures, humidity, local amenities, and outdoor activities. My peak rates are in the summer when the weather is hot and sunny and the windows are open or the air conditioning is on! Lower off season rates are when the windows are closed, the heat is on and the weather is damp and colder. In response to this review, I have added a HEPA Air Filter as equipment available upon request. I want everyone to be comfortable! Please let me know if you would like my help as you plan your visit. I enjoy orienting my guests to all there is to do in any season in our town and on our island so you can make the most of your stay! Make Seaside Adventure Cottage your base camp for hiking, biking and skiing adventures!

Cute cottage, easy walk to downtown BH

  • 5 of 5

Robin was a gracious and helpful host. Cute little cottage is located behind her house, nice fenced in yard for dog to play in. Cottage was very comfortable, immaculately clean, warm for brisk fall nights. Best part was that it was very easy walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor (about 15 min) yet on a quiet street. Last day, Robin did a quick walkthrough and handed us the security deposit back before we left. BH highlights: Gorham Mountain Trail was an amazing half-day hike and rock climbing on Otter Cliffs with Atlantic Climbing School.

A Cozy Cottage in the Heart of Bar Harbor

  • 5 of 5

Recently, I traveled to Bar Harbor, Maine to visit a childhood friend I had not seen in over 30 years. Arriving after dark and exhausted it was so wonderful to discover a sign with my name hand written in great big easy to read letters. Having confirmed this was the place I walked through the six foot privacy gate into a zen like back lot containing this quaint little cottage.

I found the cottage to be clean, orderly and perfect for a couple or solo traveler. Some may prefer using the Futon in the main area to sleep on, however I was absolutely thrilled to find the second bed perched above in a loft accessed by ladder like stairs. It was then that thoughts of my childhood rushed back into my mind. I thought Woo-Hoo!!!, its my bunk bed!!! So, I climbed the stairs sliding over the top and directly into the comfy-cozy bed.

The next morning waking up refreshed I was greeted by Lilly, Robin's amazingly friendly standard poodle. She must have sensed that I loved dogs and immediately wanted me to pet her and play. Shortly after she settled down and Robin emerged from her back door with a hot cup of coffee for me and some good conversation. While personable Robin gave me my space, while also being very accessibly if needed. If I had any complaints they would be that the wifi was rather spotty at times and there were no laundry facilities in the cottage. To be fair regarding the wifi, the town had a major power outage the day after I arrived, which knocked out major communication services in the town for at least a couple of days. In conclusion, Robin and Lilly were great hosts, the price is fair and the location is in easy walking distance to the town pier, as well as all of the interesting shops.

Owner's Response: Colin was a great guest to have come and stay with us, and I thank him for his review! I wish I could put a washer/dryer in the cottage - it would make doing the sheets and towels a lot easier! Unfortunately my plumber says it is not possible... But we do have a laundromat down the street. Thank you for the input on the wi-fi! I got a Roku this year and perhaps when I am streaming a movie it may be affecting the Cottage Wi-fi. I will check with my current guests and see if they are having any trouble. Hopefully it was just the power outage from the big storm we had - I know I had terrible cell phone signal for 3 or 4 days. For folks who do not like dogs, I do have a kennel on one side of the yard where she can be separate from guests. Update: I had my computer tech guy over and he measured the wifi signal and it was low in the cottage! He boosted it so that its working fine now!

Comfortable and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My two children, Ben the dog and I loved our week in this cottage in a neighborhood in Bar Harbor. Easy walk to all that Bar Harbor has to offer, including the Village Green where free buses to all over MDI await. We also brought our bikes and would highly recommend that as well. The owner was friendly and checked in daily, without being at all intrusive. The cottage was cozy and clean with everything we needed for restful times in between excursions.

Bar Harbor vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing vacation in Bar Harbor. Robin is excellent to work with and we found the property to be everything that she said it would be. Robin is also very helpful in answering questions that you may have about area attractions and offers suggestions if things to do as well. The cottage is walking distance to town which ensures you will not need to circle town in an attempt to find a parking space. You are also close to the local YMCA and the town tennis courts. The cottage was cute and very clean, and Robin provides basic cooking utensils and pots and pans. I highly recommend this rental property and look forward to a return trip sometime in the future.

Immaculate cottage

  • 5 of 5

I came here for a week with my partner and our two dogs. The cottage itself was incredibly clean and very cozy. Location was absolutely perfect as it was just far enough from the downtown strip to be quiet and removed yet a five minute walk into town. Acadia Park is close as well. The owner was incredibly friendly and provided information if we needed and a local's insight on some things which you might not find in a guidebook of from a front desk clerk. If you are looking to cook a few meals yourself, want a little more room than a hotel, great value for your money and a nice spot to call you home base, I would highly recommend this property. Exactly as advertised.
