Robin purchased this cottage in 1999
Why Robin chose Bar Harbor
I bought this property because it is walking distance: to the Y for workouts; downtown for coffee/breakfast, theatre, shopping; and walking distance into Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor's Shore Path, or The Bar Harbor Sandbar for a great walk with my dog!
My house is on the street and the cottage is behind it nestled in the trees. If you need some advice for dinner reservations, a hike, how/when to get to our famous Sand Bar for a great walk, just knock on my back door! I feel I am accessable yet very respectful of peoples' privacy.
What makes this cottage unique
Centrally located next to Acadia National Park makes my cottage a great place for any vacation! Staying here, you are 10 to 25 minutes from ALL there is to see in Acadia National Park and on our island, Mount Desert Island. Once you cross the causeway from the Mainland, you enter a magical, natural, outdoor paradise on an island surrounded by the sea. Ocean views abound; Mountains rising up, topped by blue sky, white fluffy clouds, or the crimson red/pink/gold of a sunrise or sunset take your breath away and keep you in awe of Nature's Beauty! Hike, kayak, canoe, mountain bike by day, and then enjoy some of the finest cooking at our local Bar Harbor Restaurants. Catch a free concert on the Village Green; stroll to an outdoor bar for a cocktail; go to a movie; browse through galleries and shops! Children will love exploring the seabed plants and creatures on the Bar Harbor Sandbar, going to the Oceanarium and learning about them, or sailing with Diver Ed to see (and feel!) the creatures living on the bottom of Frenchman's Bay! Go out with a Maine Guide and explore the Bay by Kayak, climb rock cliffs in Acadia, or rent a bike and explore the 45 miles of carriage roads., or hike on various skill level trails in the 125 mile system! Swim at fresh or saltwater beaches. Drive the 27 mile Park Loop Road and explore along the way - usually takes 3-4 hours! And after all that, there will still be places to explore on your next visit! That is why Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are among the most visited National Parks in the US!
