Overview

Healdsburg House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The best endorsement - we get repeat visitors!

Centrally located in the beautiful Chalk Hill Appellation right next to world-famous Chalk Hill Vineyards, minutes from Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Dry Creek, Alexander and Napa Valleys, this new 900 square foot cottage of cedar and stone sleeps four and boasts brand new top-of-the-line appliances and accoutrements.

Chalk Hill was one of the earliest appellations established in Sonoma County. Stretching northeast from the town of Windsor, the Chalk Hill Appellation benefits from Russian River silts as well as a warmer, drier climate than the appellations in western Sonoma County. The well draining chalky hillsides of this Sonoma County appellation are particularly suited to the cultivations of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and, Cabernet Franc. Chalk Hill is also home to an African game preserve, specialty nurseries and a private Olympic-class equestrian arena (built by a local winery owner), making it a great choice for San Francisco wine country tours.

The view picture is taken from approx 100 yards up the private road from the cottage.

Why John Klein chose Healdsburg

Sonoma County is to California what California is to the rest of the nation... meaning that California has a bit of everything in it, great weather, the oceans, mountains, and valleys and, Sonoma County has a bit of all that. Years ago, I was checking in with security for admittance to the trading floor on the Chicago Merc... The guard who, was 85 if he was a day, was issuing my credentials and asked where I was from. When I said 'Sonoma County', he paused, slowly looked up at me and said, reverntly, 'ah, God's Country'.

Very nice place, had a fine time

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our weeklong stay here. It's clean, well-equipped and comfortable, just a half-mile down the road from the 1,300-acre Chalk Hill Winery. It's a bit far from downtown Healdsburg, especially considering that the bridge was closed for repairs, but still a good value. The owner, John, is a great guy and came to our help immediately when we had a small problem. Definitely recommend this place.

Wine Country in February

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chalk Hill Cottage. A perfect location to combine wine country and hiking. The cottage was extremely well equipped, clean and cozy. The bikes and grill added to our stay. We did have a problem with the grill, the owner immediately responded to our call, and within about an hour we had a new grill!! We will be back next time we plan a trip to this area!!

Chalk Hill Wine Country Cottage

  • 5 of 5

For my wife and I, the cottage was the perfect home for our wine country getaway. The cottage was clean, well kept and very quiet. Although we did very little cooking, the kitchen was also well equipped. Finally, for us the location was excellent with easy access to Russian River and Alexander Valley wineries, and the cities of Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. We will certainly consider this for future wine country visits.

Very nice!

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect. Great location for wine tasting. Very easy check-in and check-out. Felt very private but main house is close if ever needed, which we didn't. Much nicer than staying at a hotel. Perfect to come back to a fireplace and couch. Not far from downtown Windsor and Healdsburg. Only things I would comment on as room for improvement is change out the sponge in the kitchen (there may have been a new one somewhere in the kitchen but I didn't spend too long looking around) and clean/change filter in the Brita, both were a little funky.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Andrew! My wife and I try to spend a night in the cottage ourselves periodically to see it from a guest's point of view. Coincidentally we just did that this last Saturday night did in fact replace the kitchen sponge and the whole Britta container... among other things!

Beautiful Cottage, Perfect Dry Creek Location

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for our family: my husband, 7-month old daughter and me. This is one of the nicest VRBO homes that we have stayed in. Great layout, clean, comfortable, open, and stocked with everything we needed! The living room is nice and big, great for a 7-month old to crawl around. Another couple stayed with us for one of our three nights there, and there was plenty of room. Not a big deal at all, but something to consider if you have more than 2 people: the one bathroom is only accessible from the bedroom.

Location: If you love the Dry Creek Area, this location COULD NOT BE MORE PERFECT. Less than 15 minutes to Healdsburg, where we picked up lunch every day at the Oakville Grocery store (it's that good), before wine tasting throughout the area. We made dinners at the cottage every night.

Bed was comfortable, bathroom was nice size, kitchen was great, and John even provides speakers with an auxiliary cord to hook up your own iPod/phone/tablet!

We usually come to Wine Country with a larger group, and we try to stay in a new area every time, but I would definitely stay at the cottage again. It was perfect.

Wonderful Time, we will return

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was 11-8-2014--11-14-14. I can say enough about John and the cottage>perfect.

From the very first contact with John to our checkout he was terrific. John has something special in the garage for anyone with an interest in antique's. Don't want to give it away John. :)

The area was well suited for my wife and I as wine enthusiasts we enjoyed the visit.

Healdsburg's was a quaint town with enjoyable dining>our favorite Boci Italian dining

Also the Bodega Bay area was very nice, the ride over was scenic, with the Sequoia trees, Russian river.

The only negative, wish we would have stayed longer. Next time
