This spectacular beach front house sits right on the sand, enjoying wide-open views of the sailors and surfers out on Monterey Bay. Check in, soak in the hot tub and watch the waves break on the beach. Barbecue your dinner down at the garden patio, then dine outdoors on the picnic deck, all without taking your eyes off the entrancing view. This great family home has an extra large, fully-equipped kitchen with a huge dining table that easily seats eight. Take your ease in the porch swing or hammock. Plan your adventures on the iMac computer with broadband WiFi Internet service. Clean up with outdoor shower, dishwasher, washer, and dryer. Then head out for the great Santa Cruz nightlife, or chill at home with the widescreen TV and HDTV cable service with DVR and blu-ray player. Walk to the Aloha Grill or the Taqueria Michoacan. Walk to the farmer's market. Warm up by the chimenea. Wonder where the week went so fast. Better make it two weeks next time.

Beach Access : This house is located at the edge of the beach, where it is protected from wave erosion by rip-rap. Beach access varies from season to season, depending mainly on the effect of winter storms on the sand level and lagoon location. This summer (as of June 2012) there is direct access to the beach right in front of the house, by climbing down over the rip-rap about 10 feet. If you are not spry, then we recommend the public stairs one block away.

Parking: You can easily fit three cars in the driveway, and one more by parking valet-style. The nearest on-street parking is two blocks away.

Internet and computer: We provide broadband Internet access and an eMac computer for web surfing, email, etc. You can also connect your own laptop computer with our WiFi router. There's an all-in-one printer/copier/scanner so you can print out local maps, etc.

1927 beach-front cottage among vacation and retirement houses about a mile east of Santa Cruz yacht harbor and west of the famous Pleasure Point surfing area. Santa Cruz is a long-time beach resort, a college town, and home to one of the last great beach boardwalk amusement parks. The local cultural resources are wonderful and within minutes, some within walking. All kinds of music, theater, restaurants, wineries, brew-pubs, cinema, shopping, famous people, loony people. Mountains, lagoons, lakes, creeks, meadows, cliffs, redwood forests, horses, orchards, artichokes. Day trips to San Francisco or Monterey. Minutes from the Mystery Spot. Birdwatching! Photography. Whales, dolphins, pelicans, and sea otters. They all love it here and so will you.

The main floor includes living room, kitchen/dining area, master bedroom, master bath, and laundry room. There is a spiral stairs to the lower floor with open bunk room, bathroom, and private bedroom/sitting area. The small kitchen deck has a hot tub (holds six) and a porch swing (for two), with additional seating along the rails, plus a cafe table. The larger living room deck has a picnic table for six with market umbrella. The lower garden patio has an arbor, hammock, bench seating, Adirondack chairs, and Mexican chimney. All areas except for the master bedroom and bathrooms have an ocean view, looking south across Monterey Bay. The house is well-provided with cooking equipment and non-perishables like sugar, cooking oils, and spices. We want you to enjoy the same relaxation and convenience as we do, and make yourselves at home. Use whatever you find there, swap your own books for ours, leave your spare stuff for the next guest. Just take it easy.

Family vacation 2009

This house was awesome! Perfect for a family with kids. Ours are 12, 9 and 2 years old and it worked for all of them.The older kids can easily play on the beach and be watched from the decks. Washing the sand off them is simple with the warm outdoor shower. Beach was not crowded at all, but it is covered with a lot of seaweed. You must be able to walk steadily down a slight rocky walkway to access beach. This could be trouble for an eldery person with limited mobility. Simple walk to tide pools for the kids to explore. You must also like dogs because this is a dog friendly beach. (never a problem though) The view is beautiful during the day or by moonlight. This is the first time we have rented a property that we have been 100% happy with, no complaints at all. I can't even think of anything that would of made this home better. The set up of this home is perfect if two families are sharing or the kids are old enough to crash in the downstairs alone. They have their own space to be kids and enjoy time without adults in their space! Roomy enough to all hang out together, or not to feel like your crowded. Close to the boardwalk for family outings or quaint little shopping in town. We will recommend this house to anyone, and if Santa Cruz is our destination next year , this is our house!!! Free telephone calls kept us in touch with our loved ones at home. The entire trip had a relaxed atmosphere and really did go by before we knew it, two weeks would of been better. You will not be unhappy with this house or location. The weather was mild so it does keep the beach feeling cool, you might need a wetsuit if spending much time in the water. Patio is perfect for evening BBQ or just relaxing by the fire. Hot tub is a great feature to finish off your night. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation !

This beach house is awesome. It is just steps from the beach. It is a great beach not crowded at all. The outdoor shower is a great feature plus it has hot water. The house is close to the boardwalk and close to
Capitola. Hope to go to this beach house every summer. I would highly recommend it!!!!!!!
