About The Owner

We are fortunate to have homes in 2 spectacular locations; Boulder, CO and the Luberon Valley in Provence. We created our 'dream house' and enjoy sharing it with guests who are looking for a beautiful home and memorable experiences.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Roussillon

After traveling to many areas in France,

we felt that the Luberon Valley in Provence was our 'paradise'. And we found a lovely home that we could renovate to our tastes, and in a perfect location.

What makes this house unique

We love visiting the ancient hilltop villages and learning of their history. Each village has a market day filled with local produce, cheese, flowers, etc. Restaurants serve local specialities and wines.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Have enjoyed every moment in this beautiful home.

An Enchanted Week

  • 5 of 5
Of all my visits to the Luberon Valley of Provence, none has been so graced with welcoming warmth, comfirt, and the provision of every amenity I could imagine (and some I couldn't, like the marvelous shower). This vacation home more than lives up to its billing. While staying there, we enjoyed a fire in the monumental hearth each evening, several eals prepared in the meticulously equipped kitchen, trips throuth the neighboring towns and markets, and some memorable dining out experiences (Le Petit Ecole, Cafe de la Poste in Goult, the Restanque in St. Saturnin les Apt) I recommend this property to everyone I talk to, and plan to return for a visit with the rest of my family.

PERFECT HOME FOR OUR ADVENTURES IN PROVENCE!

  • 5 of 5
We recently experienced a fabulous week at Mas de La Perdrix! Both the home and the many outings to local villages and markets were perfect for our family gathering.

Located in a hamlet (“Hameau”) near the beautiful hilltop town of Roussillon, the historic stone Mas is both intimate and expansive. Each bedroom suite has its own personality in décor and provides private space. All of the rooms on both levels open to beautiful grounds with vistas of the Luberon Valley and the mountains beyond. Delightful patio spaces are laid out along the length of the home as a transition to the gardens, pool and fields.

The two story living and dining area, with fireplace and balcony library, open through glass doors to the patios. The comfortable sofas, antique furniture and tasteful original art provide an inviting setting for conversations.

The heart of the entire home is the beautiful kitchen and adjacent dining patio, symbolic, given the wonderful Provencal meals we enjoyed all week. The kitchen’s large center island was our frequent gathering place to plan our days, visit over coffee or rose wine, or prepare fresh produce, cheeses, meats, & pastries. The kitchen is very thoughtfully laid out and equipped with an amazing assortment of high quality cookware.

The kitchen flows directly out to the main dining patio, with its gorgeous views of the gardens and valley. Close by is an outdoor living room patio under an arbor of wisteria, as well as a dining terrace with sink and serving area on the second level.

Each day of our visit, we drove to one of the nearby historic villages, on its particular market day The markets are a visual feast for the eyes and tastes! Local farmers fill the central streets with colorful tables of cheeses, honey, flowers, fruits and vegetables, charcuterie (meats), clothing, and Provencal linens. From the markets, we went on to lunch in one of the wonderful village restaurants.

The highlight of the week was a birthday celebration for one of our group, prepared by a local gourmet chef recommended by the owners of the Mas. Chef Ronald prepared an exquisite seven course meal in the Mas while we visited with him around the kitchen’s island. After decorating the table with flowers from the garden, Chef Ronald served the dinner, culminating with his spectacular gateau flambé (flaming birthday cake) to our absolute delight!

We highly recommend the beautiful Mas de la Perdrix for anyone wanting the perfect Provencal experience!

Best Vacation Ever! Truly Magical

  • 5 of 5
We recently spent a week at Mas de la Perdrix and it was absolutely fabulous. This 250 year old home has been renovated with all the modern comforts for a wonderful stay. It is located in the charming hameau of Barbiers, which is located just a couple of minutes away from Roussillon, Gordes and a multitude of other charming hillside villages. A hameau is a small hamlet of houses that the farmers lived in and many of the buildings in this one has been owned by the same family for centuries.

The area makes you truly feel like you have stepped back in time. A wonderful, slower paced, relaxing time. The Luberon Valley is so picturesque - with vineyards, orchards and fields - punctuated by "you can't believe they are real" centuries old villages with the most charming stone architecture. The view out the back of Mas de la Perdrix is a treat in itself... a beautifully landscaped backyard and pool with a wonderful wisteria-covered back patio.... the red cliffs of Roussillon can be seen in the distance... and a winery is within walking distance from the house. Every day one of the villages has a market and the owners of the house have taken the time to put together a whole book of information that tells you what days each market takes place and what specialties to look for at each one. Be sure and buy some Banon and Epoisses cheese at the markets! Also take advantage of the book's restaurant recommendations, we had some truly wonderful meals at the restaurants in the villages.

The house itself was like staying in something out of a decor magazine. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with a rainfall showerhead. The living and dining room are so homey and comfortable... although you will probably want to enjoy the outside patio as much as possible for relaxing and dining. The furnishings and artwork are a treat and there is an an ice maker in the freezer which you will really appreciate if you are from the States. The kitchen is so incredibly well appointed... there is nothing you will need as far as pots/pans, utensils, dishes... everything is fit for a gourmet cook. And speaking of gourmet cooks... be sure and book Chef Ronald to come cook for you one night. He is fabulous! A cross between a cooking lesson and a catered dinner he is very personable and engaging. A fun night for everyone.

Thank you Mas de la Perdrix for making our first trip to Provence so special. We will be back soon!

Mas de la Perdrix

  • 5 of 5
"Dream House" is definitely the correct definition of this beautiful and comfortable home.
The surrounding villages and markets are enchanting but the grounds and lovely house make it hard to not just stay there and enjoy all that it offers.
When you do venture out finding the great restaurants, breathtaking beauty of the countryside and the charm of the surrounding villages makes it even more fulfilling.
I can not imagine a more perfect setting for a truly delightful experience in Provence than at Mas de la Perdrix.

Fabulous stay at Mas de la Perdrix

  • 5 of 5
Mas de la Perdrix is a treasure. The magical transformation from an old building, a barn, to a charming, elegant home set in the serene Provencal hills is stunning. It is comprised of old world rustic charm including the white stone exterior, wood beams - so quintessential of this Provencal region. We loved all the fine architectural touches and especially the juxtaposition of the subtle modern art work and interior settings.

Beautiful and restful after a hectic week in Paris!

  • 5 of 5
An amazing place. Updated to five-star hotel quality with a chef's kitchen. Spacious rooms, back-healthy beds and bathrooms with fixtures to die for. Just wandering the grounds, which are kept up meticulously by a gardener, was amazing and so soothing. The owner suggested we contact several local chefs, which we did, and they came and cooked for us. It was very reasonable. Each day, we traveled to another small village, but the privacy in this home is wonderful. I've told all my Utah friends I'll be headed back in a year or so, and having a group of six in this home will be great fun (there were only two of us this time). A big thanks to the owners, their taste and perfectionist upkeep. They truly love their property and it shows. I am grateful they chose to preserve and improve it. I felt like I was in a movie. This part of France is very very secluded. It was a privilege to witness the nearby villages, farm country, town markets, and buy wonderful linens, lavender gifts, pottery and excellent hand crafted knives. FYI, you will need to rent a car. We are in our 60s and there were no physical challenges (but no elevator to upper floor rooms). Biking, hiking would be beautiful. The owners and the property manager all speak English. They are from the USA.
