I absolutely love Bar Harbor and can't get enough of the area. As a New Jersey resident I try to come to Maine as often as I can. This year the State of Maine was added to my territory so I have been up here many more times this year than normal. During the summer I squeezed in 2 extra visits. Even though I had to stay at the local hotel because my houses were booked - I was thrilled to be here! I can never get enough. During one of my visits because I had to work I was up at 5AM and walked the shore path which I could never do during my vacation... It was one of the most relaxing sites and energized me for the day to go back to work. And at that time of the morning hardly anyone was up or moving.. I had it all to myself... As a type 'A' personality hiking and biking are my favorite activities. My favorite trails are Norumbega, Canyon Brook, Precipice, Great Western Hike. Over the years I started really looping them together... One day I spend parking at Bubble Pond, then walking the carriage road to Eagle Lake where I take the Eagle Lake trail up over Connors Nubble (what a view - one of my favorite) then the North Bubble down the South Bubble to Jordan Pond trail where of course I stop at Jordan Pond house for tea and popovers... replenished I head up Pemetic and down the other side to get back to my car at Bubble Pond... As I write this around Thanksgiving time I am counting the days to Christmas, New Years when we spend our holiday in Bar Harbor.... I love to take the road up to Cadillac Mountain to the top. It's an experience that I enjoy every winter because the views are so different than the summer time.... I know when you visit you will enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park as much as I do.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003

After looking and looking and looking for a newer home with a location that provided access to all of the key areas we finally found that at Acadia Woods. This home was going to be our retirement home (if there is such a thing today) so I wanted it all. Location, charm, neighbors, comfort. Acadia National Park is a treasure that is spread out all along Mt. Desert Island. Most people think that Bar Harbor has it all. Southwest and Northeast Harbor provides some of the best trails, scenery and restaurants than almost anywhere else. Parkman, Bald, Norumbega, Western Mountain, Beech Mountain, Western Mountain, Perpendicular trails and I could go on and on. Do you like Gardens? Than the Thuya Gardens is a must. How about Lighthouse? Can't miss Bass Harbor Light or the Wonderland and Ship Harbor trails that are right over the ocean. Sightseeing? Sargent drive with those fabulous mansions should be squeezed in. Lakes, Ponds? Mt. Desert Island has 27 lakes and ponds so don't forget to visit Echo Lake, Long Pond or Little Long Pond. Like to bike? If you start at the Brown Gate area on Rte. 198 and take the Around the Mountain loop you will not be sorry!!! I hope you get the idea... There is so much to see and do and usually not enough time to take it all in.... Acadia Woods will provide you with a comfortable location to everywhere you want to go.... I love talking to potential tenants and can answer all of your questions about the wonderful world of Bar Harbor.........

The experience begins as you come drive down our residential neighborhood. You will quickly realize that all you see are birch and spruce trees... all of the homes are secluded. As you turn into my driveway you come to a clearing and there it is..... ACADIA WOODS! There isn't a house that has the charm or wonderful location that this house can offer you. Acadia rests on 2 acres of land where you can sit on the front steps or on the deck enjoying the morning paper - sipping coffee and you won't see or hear a sound other than the birds. Oh what a way to begin the day! Even when I'm at the house and doing the chores - and yes there is plenty of them - I really don't mind at all because the surroundings are typical Maine. Even when you are in the kitchen, den, living room, bedrooms as no matter which window you are looking out of you can enjoy the view. I LOVE the kitchen because it's a very good size with a large sitting area for the family to get together. I tried to make this house a home and not the feel of a rental... as this is my home away from home!

A fun place to stay

  • 5 of 5
We have been here every year since the home was built...the owner couldn't be more accommodating if u have a problem as she is always only a phone call away. We enjoy our vacation from the privacy aspect, but also because you are very close to town and the park...the home has charm and personality and we recommend staying here to anyone considering a visit to bar harbor.

Perfect home for our family...wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5
This home was just perfect for our family of 8. We had plenty of room to spread out and the property was very private. The home was well appointed with all of the things you need to enjoy a vacation: Guides, maps, hiking/biking books, beach toys, basement for our bikes. We cooked 1-2 meals almost every day and the home had everything we need.
The best part was how close it was to everything. You are just a few miles from the entrance to the park (Cad Mt gate) and Bar Harbor. We were able to hike/bike/explore all over the island with ease and even come back in between activities to drop people off.

All and all a wonderful vacation in a wonderful home. We can't wait to be back!
Thank you!!

Secluded Jewel

  • 5 of 5
Booked this home for a family vacation. Entire family had never been to Me. Rental seemed lost in the woods and very quiet. Owners were very helpful with some minor problems which they corrected immediately. The home was the perfect space for the six of us plus baby. Location was close to everything we wanted to do in Bar Harbor. Overall, this was really a great place to get away and relax.

Our October Getaway

  • 4 of 5
Our first trip to Bar harbor was a huge success... our friends told us what a great place it was and you really have no idea until you actually get here. Make sure you walk Ocean Drive. Loved the bikes trails. This was our first time using VRBO and we picked a very comfortable home that was in a good neighborhood. It's like a little diamond in the rough.. First time I stayed anywhere where the curtains match the bedspreads.. Very impressive... In the living rooms were books regarding the trail paths as well as trail maps for our use... Even information on the restaurants in the area... this we found was very imformative and helpful in helping us decide to where to go. Front or back yard it's very private, quiet, wooded and comfortable.. While there, the refrigerator didn't seem to be working properly.. the repairman came the next day and I guess it couldn't be fixed because the very next day there was a new refrigerator in the kitchen...
Wish it were warmer, but loved the leaves.. Our family had a great time and we hope to come back again... We recommend the home to anyway coming to Bar harbor...

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for selecting Acadia Woods and we are glad the family had a good time... We focus a great deal of time and attention to our homes to get it right.. Sometimes we do a really good job and sometimes things go wrong... BUT, we are always there for our tenants whenever they call.. Our caretaker is basically right around the corner and I have a really good staff to make sure our home is as perfect as can be....hope to have the family stay with us again soon.

What a great place to stay

  • 4 of 5
This is our 3rd trip to Bar Harbor and staying here and we always have a good time. The house is close to town and the park, but very private and we didn't have to worry about the kids running around... this is a residential neighborhood with very few cars and the house sits back off the road anyway......we do the trail in the backyard every day and really enjoy the surrounding of this home. The kitchen is huge and sitting by the big windows and the bright is so enjoyable.. The nice part is the kids seem to stay in the den while we read in the living room.. allows separation from the kids.. It's nice to be able to watch TV in the bedroom.. The kitchen has everything we need for our stay and the owner communicates with us regularly during the entire process of lease and payments.. Security comes back very, very quickly unlike houses we have stayed at before.
Can't wait to return next year.............

Mt. Desert Island, Maine vacation rental

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I loved this vacation rental! The house had two, really comfy bedrooms upstairs with double-beds for the kids and a large, comfortable master bedroom for us. There was another beautiful bedroom downstairs with a Queen that my in-laws used. All very comfortable. The kitchen was large and appointed with everything we needed although we didn't cook that much. The kitchen led out to an elevated deck that overlooked the forest which the property backs up to. There is even a hiking trail that you can take right from the back of the house that takes you all the way up the road to Rt 233. The house is convenient to Eagle Lake or Acadia National Park which is where we usually started our hiking, biking or kayaking and to downtown Bar Harbor which is about an 8 to 10 minute drive. Full walk-in basement to store our bikes and other vacation junk and a big side yard to get away from everyone for a little quiet time. We would definitely rent here again. The owner was very responsive to our needs and full of information about Acadia Park and the best trails to hike and peaks to climb. A nice house and secluded property.

Owner's Response: Thank you... what attracted us to this home was the location and the lot. It's so peaceful and quite that it truly as the feeling of Maine about it. You see or hear no one which further enhances your experience.
We usually hear from our vacationers, when they check in, as we request, to make sure everything is OK and there are no problems at the house... if there a problem, we know about it right away and try to make sure whatever the problem is, it's corrected quickly. We are very responsive to our visitors, if we are available, (not tied up at work) it's usually only minutes before we respond. We appreciate each and every visitor and enjoy when they come back each year to stay with us.
