We enjoy spending time with our Family & Friends . . .
Sandie purchased this cottage in 2009
We have loved Cannon Beach for many years and look forward to retiring in this quaint village someday.
You will have the opportunity to create wonderful memories with Family & Friends. I think the Oregon Coast if the most Beautiful coastline on the mainland.
You certainly cannot go wrong with staying at this wonderful "Great Escape" Beach get away. My bride and I could not get away for a long honeymoon so we decided on a mini-moon to Cannon Beach right after our ceremony. We were pleasantly surprised with a bottle of Champagne when we arrived. The house is very warm and inviting, fully furnished with everything one could need. All you need to bring are your clothes and food; there are plenty of places in the area to get fresh local seafood to bring back and cook in the kitchen. Or you can choose from the many restaurants in the area. There is a wonderful binder full of current information on where to go and what to do while in Cannon Beach. You feel like you are in your own home. We did not want to leave...
I rented this house in Feb 2015 for a spa getaway weekend for myself and my two female employees. We are in our mid-40s to mid-50s, well-traveled. I wanted something as comfortable, clean and well-appointed as our own homes, so willing to pay.
For the total price charged (comparable to what I spent in Carmel, CA the previous summer during high season for a much nicer property), we did not expect:
-To be informed via email shortly before arrival that the place had just been listed on the market, and a realtor would be showing it the afternoon of our arrival. I called the owner, who did not seem to understand why this might be an issue, but she did cancel the showing. Still, anyone renting this property should be aware it is on the market and can be shown at any time. My experience, having lived in properties for sale, is that showings can and do happen at any time, and often on short notice.
-Bunk beds. There was NO mention of bunk beds in the listing. (I note there is now) We felt it was extraordinarily misleading not to mention the "full" bed in the 3rd BR was really a bottom bunk.
-The lengthy and sternly worded list of tasks to be completed before leaving, including stripping the beds and doing a load of wash! After having paid a rather substantial cleaning fee for a 2 night stay, this was unexpected. Would be fine if we were borrowing a friend's place, but we weren't. After leaving, I got a text message scolding me for not running the dishwasher (had loaded it, forgot to start it).
-To find dog hair on the mattress when I stripped the bed, and not a small amount of it, either. Now, I like dogs. But I do NOT like to discover I have been sleeping on someone else's dog's hair! Especially after having paid a hefty cleaning fee to the owner.
-A coffee maker, but no coffee. We didn't know this in advance, so were stranded without coffee on our 1st morning. Owner not apologetic - simply replied coffee "not provided" & recommended local cafe
-Stickers on all cabinet shelves saying how many plates, glasses, etc., as though guests might steal them.
-Stickers and signs on practically everything, mostly w/"do not" messages - gave impression guests not trusted to exercise respect or common sense.
-Extra fees for using the advertised amenities, such as the outdoor fire pit.
Bottom line, this is a place best suited to travelers willing to pay top dollar for a mid-tier property so they can bring their small children and/or dogs.
This place is well located and well kept. It is very nicely furnished and has all the amenities one would want. It is probably best suited for two couples or a family with kids, primarily due to its size. The master bedroom is very nice but the enclosed bath is small. The other two bedrooms share a bath. Nice kitchen with all the equipment you would want. There is also a very nice BBQ outside.
The yard is totally fenced and our dogs enjoyed the grass in the back. Parking is easy.
The owner is great and does an excellent job.
If you go try the Castaways/Tiki Hut for excellent drinks and food.
We had such a great week at "The great escape". This home has anything and everything you could need. We had our 2 grand babies, adult children, our labradoodle and there was plenty of room for everyone. The home is very well loved by the owners and so comfortable. The beach is a very short walk as is the town. We walked to town everyday, the beach several times a day, barbecued , had a fire made s'mores what could be better? I just booked a return trip for next summer.
The "Great Escape" is more then that. It is the ideal place for family fun, and relaxation. So well organized, clean, and pet friendly. It made us feel we were right at home. What a "Great Escape " for all ages. It met all our family needs. We are looking forward to being there again next yet.
Wonderful home, great location! The owners have thought of everything and to walk into a super clean home was a treat! Highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed!
