Fishing in creek and nearby Shenandoah River. Hiking, swimming, canoeing, caving, Civil War battlefields, wineries all proximate. See our website below for more information.
A step back in time...a slower pace of life...: Gooney Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy a quieter time away from it all, centered on spiritual/family/couple/outdoor activities. While there are plenty of places nearby to enjoy movies, restaurants, coffee shops, cell phone usage, and internet connections, Gooney is a return to the time when people talked to each other and spent time together not staring at little screens. Just try an evening spent rocking on the porch, chatting over the day or family memories, reading, watching children outside catching fireflys or fishing, playing board games and charades, singing together or looking at constellations and walking in nature!

Our family has now owned Gooney Lodge for 3 generations and 54 years; the previous owners, the Weaver family, owned it for 42 before that. She is a well-loved old girl, and you will understand why if you, too, become a Gooney-bird.
Gooney Lodge is a gracious old girl, accomodating to all ages. She is for those who crave family togetherness, rocking chairs on the porch, looking at the stars at night, watching the hummingbirds, fishing in the creek, playing board games in the evening, and a slower pace of life, actually talking to one another not drowned in TV and electronics. Gooney provides a true get-away, and quiet time, without feeling isolated; there are plenty of activities within a short distance, and all the modern amenities of Starbucks, Wi-Fi, shopping, etc.
