Pro: agree with everyone that this place is gorgeous. Location is perfect. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Owner seemed very nice and pleasant to work with.
Con: everything was great and dandy up until the point where we suppose to get our deposit back. Initially, the owner was very pleasant to work with. We were offered a discount if we were to pay our deposit in cashier check. We took the offer and now regret that we did. More than 3wks after our departure, we received our refund, but not in the full amount. The excuses given were that they had to place service calls because we locked one of the rooms, the windows were open, and the hot tub was dirty. When asked for the receipts of the services, the owner arrogantly replied "I am a licensed contractor and I did the work. Please recall, per the signed contract, The jurisdiction to resolve any and all disputes shall be located in Douglas County, Nevada." First they stated they "had to place services calls", then they claimed they did the work themselves. We are very disappointed as every member of our party respected the beautiful home and took the extra effort to oblige to all the rules and made sure everything was in its proper state. If we truly damaged the property as stated, we would be more than willing to pay for the extra services. However, we felt they charges were unjustified as 1) the hot tub is in a public area and anything could've happened during the three weeks after we left the property 2) it was literally 20 degrees when we were there so no reasons for the windows to be opened. It is more about the principle than the money. We feel it was very unethical of them to offer the discount in return for a cashier check for tax manipulation purposes, then turnaround and make up excuses to get back that discount plus some.
If anyone decided to rent this property, I would recommend using your credit card. This way, if something happened, you can at least dispute it with your credit card company and have them protect you. Secondly, I highly suggest you request a walk through upon your exit. The amount of deposit they request is a large amount of money, and from what it seems, they can claim whatever they want to take away your deposit because under their contract agreement, any disputes must be made in Nevada.
I hope people don't have go through what we went through. I prevent them from doing this to others, we are in the process of bringing them to small claim court.
Owner's Response: If you read this review, you'll see this guest was very happy with our home, but was unhappy she did not get her entire security deposit back; whereas the vast majority of our guests do receive a full refund of their security deposit. Honestly, we felt lucky to still have a home after this group left because they had left a burner on the stove on high and it was unlit so the home noticeably smelled like gas when our son went to make sure everything was in order a few hours after they left. He also checked the hot tub at that time and it appeared someone had either gotten sick in the hot tub or spilled a plate of food into it. Our home is located in a gated community and the hot tub is situated right next to the home. There were other issues as well and despite these issues we offered to settle with this renter so this dispute is now over $125.00 (we offered to reduce the charge by 50%). We have been renting our home out for over 10 years and this is our first negative review. We respect Nga's position but hope you understand there are two sides to every story.
