Step inside and you'll find a comfortable retreat where you will quickly slip into the relaxed rhythm of this very special town. In the winter, build a fire in the fireplace or soak in the outdoor hot tub; in the spring and summer linger in your private patio area and enjoy the famous light of northern New Mexico. There's something for everyone. You can choose the active lifestyle, taking advantage of the hiking, biking, fishing and skiing in the surrounding mountains. Or you can simply browse the dozens of galleries, boutiques and museums within just a few blocks. Taos offers an amazing array of restaurants and pubs as well as live music performances. Taos Pueblo, Ghost Ranch (former home of Georgia O'Keefe), and the Chama River (famous for fly fishing) are all easily accessible.

Taos, a small town nestled in the mountains of northern New Mexico is rich in history and culture. The elevation ensures cool summers and reliable snow. Taos Pueblo is less than 3 miles from the plaza. Artists have long been drawn by the magnificent scenery and magical light of the region--Georgia O'Keefe being the most famous. The number and variety of galleries within an easy stroll of the plaza give evidence of the continued vitality of the resident artist community. The Sangre de Cristo Mtns provide a wide variety of outdoor activities--skiing, fishing, cycling, hiking. The Rio Grande River is only 12 miles away and is a favorite with kayakers and rafters. Taos Ski Valley, famous for its European style runs, is the nearest ski venue at about 20 mi. from town. In addition there are another 5 resorts within easy driving distance. For those in search of more classical entertainment, The Santa Fe Opera is only an hour away. Taos is known to cast a spell--you may not be able to leave.

Ski slopes for all skill levels. Lots of off road bike trails as well as some of the best road riding anywhere. Rafting and kayaking--either solo or as part of a group. An extensive system of interconnecting hiking trails easily accessible from town.

The local in-town bus service, the Chile Line, connects in winter to Taos Ski Valley.

Art--A Way of Life: Taos is unique in its long history of attracting and supporting the visual arts. Dozens of galleries line the streets of town--most featuring local artists. Friendly and knowledgeable, gallery owners are eager to share their passion for the arts. Courses and workshops continue to lure both the novice and the proficient.

Perfect location, great price and peaceful too!

I really enjoyed this place. It was just a couple of blocks from the plaza, had a wonderful little fountain in the central courtyard and just enough space for what I needed. Very helpful owners and I felt very safe here. Highly recommended if you are staying in Taos.

Went to Taos (due to family emergency) - contacted the owners the night before. Very accomodating to our needs. The place was so clean, cute and just perfect for our needs. This is totally better than a hotel. Close to everything and close to my mom's house. They have everything you might need - just buy groceries and your toiletries (peple who stay sometimes leave items that you can use) shampoo, soap- and your set. no iron though but my sister provided one for me. I highly recommend this place for a couple. The place is as described. Cannot complain. Lupita (cleaning lady) is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be staying here again when ever I return to Taos. Thanks for providing such a wonderful place for us. The owners are very nice and communicative.

Home away from home

I came back to see Taos in the snow and was lucky to stay again at this location. What is it they say about returning customers? The second experience was even better than the first - so much so I will return next week for an additional 4 weeks and am planning the summer visit. The quality of the unit, caring of the owners, perfect service and overall experience is still great, Taos has new things to discover and Sonterra is still a great location.

Walk around Taos from your condo

This will be the second time we stayed here. We came back for a reason! This place is very quiet, convenient to everything, clean and cozy. It felt like we never left home. You can take the shuttle from Taos to Taos Ski Valley from the main street, walk to the store and walk from your condo down to the market. It was minus 18 degrees in December last year but this little place kept us warm as a kitten. There is alos a variety of birds that greet you in the back.

We are writing this review based on our experience with the owners / managers of this rental since we never got a chance to personally stay due to complications in our schedule. From the beginning we personally dealt with the owners of the rental, they were both incredibly welcoming and friendly, offering additional information above and beyond what is required for anyone in this business. We immediately saw that they were very professional, friendly, and patient with us through the whole complicated process we ended up creating. You can see that they are serious, not only, about providing a quality place to stay but also the quality service and hospitality that really makes a place worth it. We would recommend this place since we know, good-hearted people create good-hearted things, and we think this rental was no exception.
