Fare no Tehau means House of Peace. The home is owned by a Tahitian woman who live most of the year in Hawai`i. Fare no Tehau is a home that is rented out to those seeking an authentic Tahitian experience with all the comforts of home. A thatch roof, beautiful native hardwoods and full sized, fully equipped kitchen with standard refrigerator/freezer, gas stove/oven together with utensils, plates, cups andglasses. Two full baths and comfortable beds will greet you. The home is located on the water side of the road, with a gorgeous orange/green mountain view, with two docks sitting on the marina, in an exclusive gated community on the island of Moorea: the Jewel of the South Pacific. Moorea is a five minute plane ride or twenty minute ferry ride from the capital city of Papeete.
The marina on which the home sits leads into the sparkling lagoon (the lagoon is also maybe a one minute walk from the house down the neighborhood private lane), the neighborhood is quiet, a fine French restaurant is right outside the front gate of the community (a grocery store is right outside the other entry gate) and those who have visited most often say: 'we can't wait to come back!' The yard has papaya and lime trees, fishing is great in both the marina on which the house sits or in the lagoon. There are two boat docks at the house and a kayak is available for your exclusive use!
The home is on the northwest corner of Moorea island, the leeward and dryer side of the island. If you just want to get away from it all, this is the place to get to! Please google 'Fare no Tehau' for our other sites with more photos!

Ida and David own the property. Ida is a child of Tahiti who, after being orphaned at 9, was raised in Hawai`i. She never forgot her Tahitian roots and travels often back home where many of her brothers and sisters still live.
ida teiti purchased this house in 2003
This home is well kept, has good mana (spirit), and is surrounded by friendly neighbors. Everything is close and the price is right.
The Pandanus roof keeps things cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The full sized appliances, and washer/dryer, make your stay convenient and fun. Those who have stayed with us almost universally express their gratitude and intent to return.
This place is awesome, with a cool tropical design that's a cross between traditional Polynesian and whimsical island treehouse. Awesome beds, linens, and spotlessly clean. The location is great, use the kayaks to go out to the nearby motu to snorkel on the reef. We rented a car and the reef just here was as good or better than any other snorkeling spot we found. The other best spot is the beach near the airport, by the way. Pick up some fresh tuna from the guy down the road with the sign (1000 CFP/kilo) and a some wine and you will find yourself never wanting to leave Moorea. Highly recommended.
My wife and I stayed in this house during our honeymoon, and it was wonderful. It's tucked away in a safe, quiet gated neighborhood, within walking distance of restaurants, resorts, car rental, a grocery store, and, of course, the ocean. It isn't directly on the ocean, but it's just short walk away (5 minutes), and it sits directly on a canal where you can hop in the free 2-person kayak and paddle to nearby beaches, lagoons, restaurants, islands, etc. The house itself is large, lovely, and is built in a wonderful traditional style (yet has every modern convenience). The kitchen has everything you need to cook if you'd like. David and Ida are very helpful, and will make sure you have everything you need, and will recommend a transport company to come pick you up from the ferry/airport if you'd like. I suggest renting a car for a day or two to explore the island, including exploring the Belvedere, visiting the agricultural school, and visiting the public beaches in the area. Be sure to visit the nearby Mayflower restaurant -- if you give them a call they will pick you up. It was our favorite meal on the island hands down. Enjoy your stay!
My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here and we had the most wonderful time. We felt like we were staying in a museum at times, and my husband had great appreciation for the details of how the home was built and designed. It was clean, and the use of the kayak and private dock was so convenient with the beautiful blue lagoon. It comes with many conveniences including the location to the nearby store where we picked up fresh french bread daily. I want to visit here again very soon with our family.
We stayed here with a family of five. The house is really a gem. The location is perfect. The lagoon which you can paddle to with the provided canoe is gorgeous. Snorkelling is the best (it is not for nothing that all major lagoons are on the same side of the island). The kids loved the canoe which they used all day. The snorkelling spot for swimming with manta rays and blacktip reef sharks is right on this spot of the lagoon (go there where the little tour boats stop, at location with two small white buoys).
Near the entrance of the private villa park is a small shop where they had everything we needed. We had a great lunch at the restaurant of Les Tipaniers which is a resort right next door. Here you can hire all watersport equipment and book tours as well (right on the beach of Les Tipaniers).
One night we heard a lot of music and went to the nearby Intercontinental resort where we enjoyed a typical Tahitian dance show. This resport has also a dolphin and sea turtle care take centre. Worth a short visit.
The house is very nice and neat insite and comfortable with all needed amenities at hand including a full size kitchen. If we go to Moorea again definitely would go this house again!
My wife and I rented this home a few years back when it was still being furnished. It was a fantastic time, the lagoon is fantastic, and paddling out to it from the canal behind the house was pretty cool. The photos of the lagoon don't do it justice, it was phenomenal. Snorkeling all day long, great surf spot at the opening in the reef, and the hotel across the way had all the water toys for rent you could possibly want.
Totally worth it!
