Loved it! What a peaceful little cottage to get away from it all. Our group of seven Moms made the short 45 minute trip from our homes (just far enough to get away from the kids and husbands) for a weekend of scrapbooking, movie watching and alot of just silly girl talk. We highly recommend the pizza at Anile's, yum! Next time we plan to try the Tavern. We just can't say enough about the place. The word "picturesque" definitely fits.

Thank you for the use of your rental; Sam, Phillip, and I enjoyed ourselves! The town is lovely, and your home is fun and interesting. I especially loved the glass in the hutch and the green vessels on the shelf of the hutch. Thank you for sharing. Natalie

Cottage in Boiling Springs.

We loved the town and area od Boiling Springs. The cottage is located on the creek and down a very nice private road. The dock was lovely and the paddle boat was fun. The sheets and bathrooms were very clean but felt that the house could be dusted more and front of the fridge area cleaned. The cupboards were full of dishes and pots and pans which left us no where to store dry goods. It rained for 2 days and the deck was extremely slippery from mold build up, it did dry out. The back deck area could have used a good cleaning. We had a very pleasant week and enjoyed the area very much, however we would not rent again.
Owner's Response: This was a surprising comment considering the effort that is put into making this a home away from home. The kitchen is equipped with utensils and supplies for large family gatherings, however it is still a "cottage", so space if limited. However, there is a large fridge, and additional space in the adjacent laundry room for additional items. We will respond to this comment accordingly. This summer has been exceptionally wet, and the deck has suffered, however we responded immediately and have had the deck professionally updated. We encourage comments, and make ourselves available at all times to respond immediately. Our number is posted and we encourage communication during everyones stay. Sincerely, Susan

The Beautiful Cottage

We loved the "Cottage". Although, it is larger than a cottage, in fact, larger than we expected. We enjoyed our stay so much. Our family came to visit while we were there and didn't want to leave. The creek in the back is just steps from the huge deck and was calming and peaceful! Our grandson loved the paddle boat and our nieces enjoyed the canoe. They also played pool in the garage that was styled nicely.
The bedrooms were more than adequate - 2 bathrooms were handy when my brother and his family decided to spend a few nights with us. Oh, the kitchen, can't forget the kitchen! Fully stocked! We cooked Shrimp Creole and served 13 people on the deck! Plenty of everything to throw a little party!
Susan, thank you so much for being easy to contact. I hope I get to stay there again. My family is already telling all their friends about the cottage!

Not what I hoped

This was a huge vacation for my family. I want to first say the owners were fine to deal with and very helpful for the few things we needed tended to (A/C wasn't working properly which they quickly brought us a window unit). This house is an older home. When we arrived I was a little taken aback by the cobwebs on the garage. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are down stairs the master and a room with two small beds. The 3rd is upstairs in the "attic" room is what we called it...you have to duck to go up to the futon or the twin beds. not the best for adults...the kitchen was capable of serving a family 6. The deck is nice. The biggest draw back for me was the bedrooms. I felt they lacked attention to detail/cleanliness and as far as the master one of the lamps was really dirty and broken. The master shower curtain has mold/mildew...again a detail that could be tended to. Leaving anything other than positive comments is really difficult for me; however, I heavily relied on all reviews for everything while in PA, so I felt it only fair to represent. The pictures of the house are only of the living area and patio...no bedrooms are shown...I would recommend asking for one prior to renting The game room is in the garage however it is very musty and hot.....for a pool playing family, we never used it! Again, this house is old and it shows...nonetheless it did meet our needs. One other thing I think bears mention...When we came home from a day trip I noticed that there was new furniture on the patio and the boat and chairs were straightened....This would have been fine if a note was left stating what was done....however, it was not and left me feeling as though the owners family (which lives next door) came to check on the house while we were out. I AM NOT SAYING THEY DID....just a feeling. As grateful as I was to be with my family I have to say that I could not recommend this house. We have rented several VRBO's and we know we have been really lucky with our homes....this one was a let down.
Owner's Response: "I was disappoint to read the recent review as it is just the opposite from the comments we usually get. It was especially disconcerting given the extra effort we made to immediately address any of the concerns that the renters brought to our attention. But we welcome the feedback and will look into each of the issues that were highlighted. FYI, I do not live next door but try and visit the house as much as I can, the new patio furniture and the cleaning of the boat were provided as a courtesy during my most recent visit. We live 2 hours away, and make ourselves available to respond to any and every request or concern. The bedrooms are well described. The upstairs bedroom has 2 single beds, as does the downstairs bedroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed. In addition, there is a queen size futon upstairs that can be used if additional bedding is required, and we advertise it as such. The house is definitely old, but has been renovated many times since its original structure in 1924, when it was a quaint little cottage. The kitchen is completely modernized, and we enjoy a family gathering of about 20 (and sometimes more) every Thanksgiving, which not only includes Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, but many more meals over our 5-day family holiday. I welcome all comments.
