Great Location and Beautiful Views!

*5 Minutes from Center of Maggie Valley: Shopping and Restaurants.*

An Old Logging Community, part of the National Park: Large Elk Herd roams the open pastures. View wildlife: wild turkey, deer and occasional bear as well as other animals that roam these hills. Take a beautiful nature drive. Hike, Picnic or fly fish. Many beautiful streams run through this valley. There are old churches, schools and home steads spread out through the valley. (Plan to spend at least a half day here or longer. Elk best seen early mornings or at dusk.)

Take the drive to Big Creek and enjoy a nice dirt road, a nice mountain drive through a dense forest along meandering mountain streams. Get into nature off the beaten path. Big Creek has picnic tables; and nice place to hike, fish or explore nature. Return by taking the dirt road back to Cataloochee or jump on Hwy I40 and take a quicker road back to the cabin...also pretty views as it takes you though mountain vistas.

Central location makes our cabin a great place to set out for adventures in the Smokys:

* 35 Minutes from Ashville and Biltmore Estates

* 10 minutes from Waynesville: Galleries, unique shopping and fine dining

including Mask General Store.

* 20 minutes from Cherokee: A Great Outdoor Drama: "Unto These Hills"

Qualla Art Gallery, native crafts and art displays: great shopping for quality items, not your typical tourist type shopping.

* 30 minutes from Deep Creek: Waterfalls, tubing, hiking and Flyfishing

people of all ages like to rent rafts here and float the river...lots of fun.

* 40 minutes from Nantahala Outdoor Center: White Water Rafting* Hiking* Biking

( Plan to spend at least half day here, lots of fun things to do.)

* 45 minutes from Cades Cove ( Plan to spend at least half a day here, many trials and old home steads, often see bear and deer out in the open pastures.)

* One hour from Gatlinberg

* One hour and 10 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Dollywood or....

Plan a great day trip and visit the many waterfalls of WNC.

It is an absolutely beautiful drive to the many Falls and back to the cabin.

Be sure to stop by Sliding Rock, a natural slide which provides hours of 'fun' for adults and children. ( A life guard is provided by park service and only a small fee is charged for those who want to slide.) A Day you will long remember!

* The Gateway to the Smokys * Many towns, places to visit and activities are close by the chalet! *

Every morning set out in a different direction and enjoy the many activities offered throughout the mountains or..... Enjoy the comfort of the cabin, a comfortable Mountain Retreat or.... Sit back in one of the Rockers on the front deck listening to the wind blow through the valley or......Enjoy cool evenings having a picnic out front under the large maple at the picnic table or..... Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had so much fun. We went horse back riding one day. On another we went to the waterfalls. We had cozy dinners and then watched movies you provided at the cabin. It really is like home away from home.

Owner's Response: thank you....many guest have commented on the scrap book. I know it helps to have maps and having a scrap book lets guest in on 'where the locals eat...what we have found we enjoy ourselves as well as providing a quick reference for places to go and things to do.

Cute cabin; good value; painless reservation!

This quaint A-frame cabin was the perfect size for my small family of 5 with young children. The loft room worked for our children, and the toys/stuffed animals were a bonus. The gas heaters kept the place nice and warm. Outside the kids loved the playground and beautiful creek. It's a perfect location for enjoying Maggie, it couldn't be easier to book--so pain free! Thanks!

The large swings and play area is a bonus. We also rent a lot to two couples who enjoy sharing the cost, we have booked to newly weds who are annual guests,we have people come who ride motorcycles and love the easy access and the closeness of the parkway, skiiers who like the closeness of the ski resort and couples who enjoy the beautiful views and comforts of the cabin. We feel we offer something for everyone. We hope to have you return and stay at our Smoky Mountain Retreat. The chalet is well suited for six bedroom downstairs, one queen bed and one bedroom upstairs, two queen beds.

We spent a weekend at Chalet and Had a Great time. It sits on a street of other A frame houses. A little girl in our party called them "Elf Houses!" The location can not be beat, not far from the main strip in Maggie valley, but still in an area that all you can hear is a rushing creek. The owner Rebecca was great! Very responsive to questions and just really nice to talk with. With the amount they charge, it just doesn't make sense not to stay here!

Just spent a wonderful relaxing week in this chalet. Everything we needed was supplied. Enjoyed sitting in the rockers on the porch and the wonderful view. Had a great library of movies to choose from which we enjoyed in the evenings. Look forward to returning to Maggie Valley again.

Owner's Response: Anita, thank you. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at the chalet. We enjoy the rockers also. I think we all need to get away sometimes and spend time close to nature, and nowhere is better than a mountain retreat. We try to provide the little things that make our guests stay comfortable and relaxing. We appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come again! Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thank you Pat. I am so happy you chose to come back to stay with us at our mountain retreat. We love our place in Maggie and feel blessed to be able to share the cabin with others. We like to say it is 'As close to heaven as you can get with two feet on the ground." We are committed to keeping our cabin well maintained. We had to change maintenance and housekeeping services when we were made aware that some things were not being maintained at the level of quality we expect. As soon as we were made aware we fixed the issue. We have always wanted guest to feel that what we advertise is what they get. The many little extras prove that point. Our many guest who return year after year expect that as well as new guests. We appreciate all our guests and look forward to you coming back to stay with us. ~*~ Maggie Valley Chalet~*~ Home away from home. Thank you and again, so happy you enjoyed your stay! Please come back and stay with us again!

Love this Maggie Valley Chalet !

We loved staying at your chalet before Thanksgiving last year! Everything was great and in perfect order in the house when we arrived. It was definately cold outside that week but we were perfectly cozy inside. We were sorry that we missed the snow and tubing by only one day :( However, we had a great trip while we were there.

We did manage to visit the Cataloochee Valley. I was a little leery of the road up but once we arrived it was gorgeous! We went at an odd time (around lunchtime) so we were very surprised to see many elk in the field beside the old Methodist church. We have the funniest story involving an elk at the old church. We drove down and looked at the various old houses and barns and valleys. On the way back we stopped to walk inside the white church. We could look out of the church windows on the east side and see the elk in the field. Well as we walked around the church to head back to our car we stopped abruptly because a large female elk was standing at the back of the church eating. We slowly decided to walk back in the direction of the church. The elk started to follow us! She pretty much ran us back into the church. It was 20 degrees outside that day. We waited inside the church until she eventually walked to the woods behind the church. It was pretty scary but hilarious later that night!

Your house was nicely furnished and my girls absolutely loved the upstairs room. They felt like they had their own "space" from us. We enjoyed the wifi and games as well. Thanks again for sharing your mountain retreat with us! We will definately return in the future!

Owner's Response: Thank you. We also enjoy the elk. We have recently seen them while sitting in the rockers under the big Maple that is in front of the cabin. The elk are spreading out and forming new herds. We love our cabin and are always happy when others enjoy their stay as much as we do. Thanks again. So glad you enjoyed your stay at the chalet. Thanks again Michele for choosing to stay at our chalet!!!
