~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

( Day 1 ) : Maggie Valley: Ghost Town/Amusement park in the morning. Shop and dine in town.

In the afternoon visit: Cataloochee Valley: Elk, wildlife, picnic, hike or just drive the scenic valley roads.

Elk roam the pastures.the mountain and valley views are amazing as well as the many streams. A great place to view the mountains and explore open valleys, trails and winding streams.

Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, stop at overlooks,

take photos and enjoy nature close up.

Don't forget to visit the Stomping Ground: Blue Grass Music. Enjoy the show, skilled dancers, cloggers take the floor and provide great entertainment. Later, join in. Visitors are called to join in the fun or just watch as 'newbies' take the floor...which is also entertaining and fun!

( Day 2 ) : Waynesville: View Cold Mountain,shop at the shops which are fine art galleries that feature beautiful art work, pottery, and stain glass.. Enjoy fine dining, lots of restaurants to choose from.

Visit Bryson City,ride the

Great Smoky Mountain Railway-cross Fontana Lake' or ride along the Nantahala River watching White water rafting.The train stops at the Outdoor Center, allowing time for shopping and having a meal at the restaurant located on the river.( I have taken all the rides offered by the GSM Railway and enjoyed them all!)

( Day 3 ) :. Cherokee: 'Unto These Hills,' Outdoor drama about the history of Cherokee Indians and 'Trail of Tears'

( This outdoor drama is a 'must do' in the Smokies....Not only is it informative and educational but it is well produced and great entertainment! The history of the Cherokee people come alive as this outdoor drama unfolds. The cast and crew are skilled actors and the sets and lighting are magnificent. ( I have seen this production many times with family and friends and it only gets better each time!)

Harrah's Casino, for those who feel lucky is open 24 hours a day. I don't gamble....but I know some people do....The parking lot is always full. Harah's also offers fine dining and entertainment.

Santa Land theme park & zoo is a fun place to spend the day with kids...Lots of rides, games and a large zoo. There is an outdoor Bear show. There's a paddle park. Plus, Santa has a house here where the little kids get a chance to meet with Santa....(We once saw Santa dining in one of the restaurants in Cherokee.....my nephew remarked...So this is where Santa spends his Summer!....Nice little treat. Sure my nephew had tales to tell when he went back from Summer vacation!

( Day 4 ) : Brevard: Land of the Waterfalls.Miles of beautiful

waterfalls. Pack a picnic lunch. Falls are magnificent.

NC has beautiful Waterfalls that greet you at every turn. As the road winds along there is waterfall after waterfall.

Slide at Sliding Rock is a natural slide formed by large mountain rock that allows you to gentle glide down into a cascading pool of cool water.

Life guards are on duty. Kids and adults can spend a day sliding down the huge smooth natural slide.There is a small fee.

Bath house and bathroom provided. There are areas for Hiking Trails,tubing and enjoying a picnic lunch.

( Day 5 ) : Asheville: Biltmore Estates.

Visit Biltmore Village, dine or shop at one of the

many shops and galleries. Later take a trolley ride around Asheville, visit the many art shops and galleries.

( Day 6 ) : Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge: Dollywood, waterparks, sights,

Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. MANY shops and restaurants.

Cades Cove- scenic drive with wildlife, trails and hikes.

( Day 7 ) : Relax at the cabin. Enjoy morning coffee sitting in the rockers on the deck....

overlooking the valley below. Relax and enjoy our quiet Smoky Mountain Retreat.

Picnic table*grill* glider & rockers are provided for our guests*.

~~~~* ~~~~*~~~~~~*~~~~~~*~~~~~~*~~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~
Maggie Valley truely is the' GATEWAY TO THE SMOKIES
Close to major attractions*Ski Resort* Ghost Town* and Blue Ridge Parkway*'
If you would like to take a ride and enjoy a day trip, pack a picnic lunch and head out to explore the Waterfalls of WNC or take a drive to Fields in the Woods.....Stop by the Nantahal Outdoor Center and enjoy whitewater rafting or just watch the rafters from the many decks along the river along the way....Field in the Woods is a park that is not too well known and time has taken a toll on some of the monuments...but it a very special place. The Ten Commandments are laid out in stone on the side of a mountain, at the top of the mountain flags have been placed for every country where the Gospel of Christ has been preached. There is replica of the tomb where Christ was buried...a nice place to visit and reflect on our many blessings..
All the small towns that surround Maggie offer their own special attractions, and since Maggie is centrally located you have lots of places to see and visit. And if you can't get around to seeing them all....then come...Maggie has a way of calling you back to these beautiful hills and quiet streams..
Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had so much fun. We went horse back riding one day. On another we went to the waterfalls. We had cozy dinners and then watched movies you provided at the cabin. It really is like home away from home.
Thanks.
Owner's Response: Thank you Pat. I am so happy you chose to come back to stay with us at our mountain retreat. We love our place in Maggie and feel blessed to be able to share the cabin with others. We like to say it is 'As close to heaven as you can get with two feet on the ground." We are committed to keeping our cabin well maintained. We had to change maintenance and housekeeping services when we were made aware that some things were not being maintained at the level of quality we expect.
As soon as we were made aware we fixed the issue. We have always wanted guest to feel that what we advertise is what they get. The many little extras prove that point. Our many guest who return year after year expect that as well as new guests. We appreciate all our guests and look forward to you coming back to stay with us.
Love this Maggie Valley Chalet !
  • 5 of 5
We loved staying at your chalet before Thanksgiving last year! Everything was great and in perfect order in the house when we arrived. It was definately cold outside that week but we were perfectly cozy inside. We were sorry that we missed the snow and tubing by only one day :( However, we had a great trip while we were there.
We did manage to visit the Cataloochee Valley. I was a little leery of the road up but once we arrived it was gorgeous! We went at an odd time (around lunchtime) so we were very surprised to see many elk in the field beside the old Methodist church. We have the funniest story involving an elk at the old church. We drove down and looked at the various old houses and barns and valleys. On the way back we stopped to walk inside the white church. We could look out of the church windows on the east side and see the elk in the field. Well as we walked around the church to head back to our car we stopped abruptly because a large female elk was standing at the back of the church eating. We slowly decided to walk back in the direction of the church. The elk started to follow us! She pretty much ran us back into the church. It was 20 degrees outside that day. We waited inside the church until she eventually walked to the woods behind the church. It was pretty scary but hilarious later that night!
Your house was nicely furnished and my girls absolutely loved the upstairs room. They felt like they had their own "space" from us. We enjoyed the wifi and games as well. Thanks again for sharing your mountain retreat with us! We will definately return in the future!
Owner's Response: Thank you. We also enjoy the elk. We have recently seen them while sitting in the rockers under the big Maple that is in front of the cabin. The elk are spreading out and forming new herds. We love our cabin and are always happy when others enjoy their stay as much as we do.
Thanks again. So glad you enjoyed your stay at the chalet.
