Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5
4 friends and I spent 4 days on a "lady's getaway". It couldn't have been more wonderful. The house is so welcoming, spacious, functional. The kitchen is excellently equipped. The decor and atmosphere is charming. I loved the "feel" of the place, with the vaulted ceiling in the living room and the "sun room" area off of it that warmed our backs in the morning, whilst we watched 12 deer (moms and fawns) nibbling their way across the property. BTW, 2 of us slept on the pull-out sofa in the living room. It was incredibly comfortable!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to experience this wonderful place.

Dream House ... excellent for anyone looking to build memories

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from one of the most memorable family vacations in a long time. We arrived on Dec 27th and stayed here for 3 days. The weather was unreal (read as bright sunshine and nice breeze days) given that December was winding down. The house is very tastefully decorated and you can tell that the owners have furnished the house as if they were going to live there. High ceilings, brand new gadgets (dishwasher, washer/dryer,cooking range) and a well stocked kitchen (includes a range of spices :-) ) make this a place you can instantly call your home.

The house is surrounded by windows and a deck runs all around the house. We were thrilled to see deers right outside our windows in the windows. The highlight for me was waking up at 7 in the morning and taking a walk up the hill right behind the house and watching deer run in the woods. A great way to put the year in perspective and recharge for the next one.

Other cool amenities include a fully function hot tub (I have stayed in places that have advertised a hot tub only only to find that it's next to impossible to get the thing going), Wifi+Netflix (it was nice to watch our favorite movie after a day spent hiking) and a gas powered grill.

Overall a great experience. Kathleen has definitely put a lot of thought into this rental. Looking forward to returning during summer.

Even The Gov't Shutdown Did Not Spoil Our Trip

Even The Gov't Shutdown Did Not Spoil Our Trip
  • 5 of 5
What a nice home you have made here. We enjoyed the clean feeling of everything. Your kitchen was very well stocked and labeled. We enjoyed the deer visits every day. The hot tub was refreshing. Even though the Government shutdown closed the Park, we were still able to drive thru all areas but the Valley.

We hiked Nelder Grove- South of the Park on 41. The Giant Sequoias were breathtaking. Closer in, we walked down to the water reservoir and loved the "hiking" along the creek in Mariposa. Went to Friday night concert in the Art Park.

The winery at Butterfly Creek off of Triangle Road had a tranquil setting for another picnic. We found nice places for dinner 1) Charles Street, 2) Pizza Factory, 3) 1850 and 4) Savory's.

We did not let the Government shutdown spoil our trip; however, since we did not get to see the Valley, we will have to come back to see the rest of it.

Thank you for opening your home for us,

Owner's Response: It is with great pleasure to read your wonderful review! I am so pleased that you didn't miss a beat with the unfortunate Government shutdown. Your review is sure to inspire other guests that there is much more to Mariposa than its convenient proximity to Yosemite.
It is fantastic that you were able to discover some of our hidden treasures. The Nelder Grove is a family favorite for mountain biking amongst the majestic Sequoias!
I am impressed with your flexibility, positive spirit and sense of adventure. It is my hope that you are able to visit again and have the opportunity to experience the magic that Yosemite has to offer. However, I am incredibly grateful that you were able to enjoy the comforts of our rental home whilst exploring this wonderful area that we are privileged to call "home."

Perfection

  • 5 of 5
This is an amazing property. This home has been put together with loving care and is the best stocked VRBO property we have ever rented... and we have rented many in many different states. Kathleen and Alex have made this a true home, not just a rental. It is extremely updated and very comfortable. I almost hate to give such a glowing review (as I'm afraid you might rent it when I want to come back here!). But, I must tell the truth!

Location is also great, close to Yosemite, but away from crowds and close to Mariposa, which we love. Don't miss the Pizza Factory!

A Vacation within a Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Perfect location for day trips to Yosemite - really exactly halfway between the Arch and South entrances. Also, Mariposa is a fabulous vacation-style small town (unlike other strip-mall-and-fast-food-style small towns in the area).

The house was a wonderful vacation in itself. Morning coffee on the front porch with no sounds but the passing deer and a distant rooster (or three) - bliss. Inside was upscale pampering with big, comfortable rooms, a dream kitchen and just the right laundry area.

The whole experience (booking, paying, arriving, house condition, house location, provided amenities, checkout, etc.) was the best (of many, many great VRBOs) we've had!

We can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous and roomy house in the woods ideal for resting

  • 5 of 5
My family of four loved Pine Canyon Retreat and appreciated the quiet and spaciousness during our time there as much as we enjoyed the Yosemite adventuring. While is does take 1-1 1/2 hours to drive to each of the main areas of the park its seclusion and modern comforts made it worth the drive for us - especially with easy access to all conveniences in Mariposa - visitor center, groceries, gas, shopping, dining, etc. Of course Yosemite sites are just spectacular. Meadow walks with huge granite mountains in the background, giant tall trees all around, and hikes up to find waterfall sites was just an incredible experience. Vernal falls is a rigorous climb up 2000 feet but it is breathtaking. This house was just perfect to come home to especially to soothe sore muscles in the hot tub in the garden patio in evenings before dinner. Beautiful herb plants are everywhere giving us an aromatic treat every time we pulled up to the house! Pictures do perfectly reflect the house and it was very clean and well supplied.
