Located on the tranquil peninsula of San Jacinto, just outside of Guanica, 'Casa Alejada' (Faraway House) is the perfect place to get away from the rigors of modern life. If you enjoy serene vistas, quiet beaches, and nature's beauty then Casa Alejada is the place for you.
Nestled between Guanica Forest and the Caribbean, Casa Alejada offers a tremendous variety of outdoor activities just a few steps away. If long hikes, bird watching, and exotic wildlife interest you, then check out Guanica Forest a UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve.
The forest is home to over 100 species of birds (many of them endemic) and over 700 species of flora and fauna. If long quiet days spent on the beach are more your speed, you will absolutely love the unpopulated beaches of Caña Gorda, Ballena, and Tamarindo.
Tired of sitting on the beach? Go for a swim in the warm placid waters, or try snorkeling amongst mangrove roots and coral reefs. Feeling adventurous? The Ferry to Guiligan's Island is a short walk away. You could even take a scuba diving trip from one of the local guides or try your hand at windsurfing.
Now for the most important of nature's attractions in San Jacinto... Sunshine and Lots of it! Because of its location in the rain shadow of Puerto Rico's Central Range, San Jacinto enjoys a dry and sunny climate almost the whole year around. Combine this with gentle tropical breezes and you will quickly forget about the hustle and bustle you left behind.

We really enjoyed our visit at Casa Alejada. The top floor apartment was cozy and relaxing with great views from pretty much every room. The apartment was not a five star luxury apartment, but we found it great for relaxing and it was very close to some nice beaches.
The owners gave us some good information on places to see and eat. We liked having drinks over at the Copamarina but we found the food a little pricey. Some other guests staying there mentioned there were some nice restaurants in Guanica.
Our only critique would be that he AC in the master bedroom is getting a little tired and a couple of the window cranks were broken but over all we were happy especially for the price.
We just came home from Gaunica. We rented all three apartments of Casa Alejada. The owners were super cooperative and gave us a great rate for renting all the apartments for a week. We were able to sleep 17 people who came to the area for our daughter's wedding in Ponce. Owners were also very good at letting us stay a day or so longer, to accomodate everyone's departure dates. Their new decking, for the bottom apartment was beautiful & a great place to hang out. There were local caretakers that were responsive to our calls. They both spoke English & came as needed. That being said, the apartments are a little "tired." They once may have been painted white but have since been done in various colors, including some of the furnishings. Many remotes/switches didn't work. One fan was too noisy to even use. There was a water leak, in the bottom apartment's bathroom that ran the whole time we were there. Caretakers couldn't seem to find the scource. Other than the good double beds, others were singles and with thin mattresses. Linens were sparse; TVs small & furnishing, especially couches in 2 aprt., small & thin. And, you had better not mind being awaken by roosters. They run all over & start crowing early. It was a pain to have to come up with $2.50 in quarters to wash & dry any load of laundry.Overall, we would rent again becuase of the price & cooperative owners but just want everyone to be aware of the shortfalls. This isn't luxury but it is convenient & economical.
The apartment is really nice and we loved the view and location. Is near to the beach but the apartment is in a secluded area for privacy. We can't wait to go back.
This was the best deal ever! Honestly a very comfortable, clean and beautiful apt. in a private house. Perfectly on top of a Hill overlooking the mountains, and the beach. You have to be there to inhale and exhale the great and clean environment of the south west area of Puerto Rico. If you're tired of the loud city and overpopulation come here and recharge your batteries in this lovely place. The apt was equiped well with clean linens and all utensils for your needs. I highly recommend it...it was safe & quiet ...oohh so very romantic if you stay with a loved one.
