This cottage is delicious! This mountain cottage sits on 7 secluded, riverfront acres just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not a house in sight! Great river. Great views. Great privacy. The cabin is all wood inside with exceptional appointments. This is an ideal family vacation cabin and a great place to rest and relax. If you love fishing, this is the place. Wade in the Little River and enjoy. Sparta is 20 minutes away. Galax is 20 minutes in the opposite direction. And the parkway, it's around the corner. And we've priced it to meet the needs of a family with children.

The Little River is a rushing wild river that shoots off the New River, one of the oldest rivers in North America. Loaded with shoals, the sound of the water rushing over the rocks is breathtaking. Fishing, tubing, canoeing and kayaking are spectacular through local outfitters. We are minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway. And less than an hour from the following: Mount Airy, the home of Mayberry and the Andy Griffith Show; Stone Mountain State Park [try the summit hike -- breathtaking], Mount Rogers [recently featured in Sierra Magazine as one of the best hikes around -- go to see the wild ponies!], local wineries, ski resorts [Boone is about an hour and 15 mins away], Doughton Park [great mountain biking] and soooooooo much more.

Notes: Our place is on 7 acres on the river. The house is at the top of the hill and we own all the land going down to the river. The walk is steep but very doable. [Not for the elderly]. The master bedroom was recently greatly expanded with a sitting area. The hot tub was removed in favor of more usable space. Our guests LOVE IT! We do too. If the calendar is booked for the day you want, email us. We sometimes have cancellations and we have another cabin in walking distance [see listing for Riverbend].

This cabin is great for those looking for an adventure in the NC mountains. Whatever type of fun you are looking for can be found here.

It is as perfect for that quiet romantic getaway where you can sit on the porch, drink wine, relax, and re-connect while looking at the stars as it is for a wild time with the kids.

We brought our three young children (ages 6, 9, and 10) and enjoyed fun times in the river (not too deep as to be a concern for safety) and the surrounding area. There are fish to be caught in the river, great woods to hike in, and wildlife everywhere. We took some road trips to the surrounding areas to include Grandfather Mountain, the town of Galax (VA), Mt. Airy, NC (the original Mayberry), and to Little Switzerland for some genuine gem mining.
We also fished for trout and catfish in local ponds near Sparta, NC (the closest "big" town).

Great memories were made in these very comfortable accommodations. The cottage is decorated wonderfully, is well-equipped, and nothing beats falling asleep to the sounds of the rushing creek. We brought our dog along and it was great that he was welcome.

We have traveled to many places as a family and this is one area that we definitely want to return to.

Very relaxing. New cabin. Very clean. The stream in the picture is a hike down a steep slope. You can hear the water if it is very quiet. The cabn is in the woods and very private. We spent a very relaxing 4th of July wekeend there.
