About David Blum

We always longed for a place in the mountain. We bought this house and used it as a weekend retreat from Atlanta. A few years ago we built our dream home just up the road from this one and are now full time residents in this wonderful place.

We hope you will be able to visit and share the beautiful weather and scenery with us.

David and Nancy

Cozy Beauty

  • 5 of 5

What a great time we had at your cabin. Our family and our best friends welcomed in the new year. We cooked wonderful meals in your well stocked kitchen. We took your advise on a hike and had a beautiful day to go out and experience the beauty of Highlands, NC area. The view is so fabulous from your back deck. We brought our dogs and they loved the fenced in back yard and back deck. Very comfortable and special time. Thanks for sharing your home.

P.S. I actually ordered your friends book 'Living on Wilderness Time' that I found on your bookshelves. What a wonderful book it made me want to go out and appreciate the wilderness.

Warm and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

We visited this lovely mountain home over the Thanksgiving holiday. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the massive windows overlooking the mountains. The accommodations were spacious, updated and very clean. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this home for a vacation rental.

Beautiful, Clean & Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our time at this cabin. We spent a few days in October there just in time to enjoy the foliage. The cathedral ceilings gives this cabin a wonderful, open feel & the convenient gas fire makes it very cozy. The property was clean, spacious & had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The upstairs room wasn't great for our kids who still wake in the middle of the night to find us but we were able to figure it out.

We walked down to the meadow & absolutely loved it. Our kids played hide & seek there & considered it one of the highlights of their trip to the Highlands (in addition to gem mining at Jackson Hole...very cute). The owners were very easy to communicate with. Thanks for sharing your home!

A great get away

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for quiet, peaceful and a little remote, this is the perfect place! The house is very comfortable, the view from the back deck is awesome and the welcome letter from the owner is full of great information. His information on places to eat, hike and the best grocery store are spot on. Dry Falls is a must, and Bella's has great food close by. We absolutely enjoyed our stay!

Perfect for all ages

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 generations on this vacation. Children are 1 and 3 years old, mother is 30, and grandparents almost 60.

It was amazing how all of us were very happy. We absolutely loved the back porch. Our best time ever was finding acorns and rolling them on the deck for the children to catch. They were perfectly content on the back porch until we took them for a walk to the meadow. OMG! The meadow was complete with little bridge and swing. It became a photo shoot for the daughter and grandchildren.

The neighbors couldn't have been more friendly. We loved this house and it's surroundings.

We had a quick drive to Highlands and Ashville.

The Biltmore house is a must see and of coarse, the Dillard House for a nice family dinner.

Thank you David for your hospitality and also your wife's coffee pot!

Peaceful getaway on Scaly Mountain

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Scaly Mountain, just a short drive from the Atlanta metro area. The house is located in a very quiet, private community about 10-15 minutes west of downtown Highlands. My wife and two dogs absolutely loved the location of the house - a perfect mountain retreat with plenty of quiet streets and trails to walk the dogs right outside the house, but also a quick drive into town for restaurants, hiking and all that Highlands has to offer. The fenced back yard was great for walking the dogs off leash in the morning and evening. The house was very clean when we arrived, has an updated kitchen for those who enjoy cooking and a wonderful balcony that gets sun from 3pm until sunset. David was great and responsive to all of our questions/requests throughout the stay. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.
