I was looking for a comfortable house for 6 adults to help me celebrate my 50th birthday- and boy, did I get it! It was beyond good, it was an outstanding experience.
The house is so tastefully decorated and so thoughtfully renovated that you feel as though you are staying in the pages of Architectural Digest. This house literally has everything you can think of for a great beach experience- and if you don't want the beach, you can hang out by the pool! Beach chairs- a wagon to take them to the beach (which is only 2 blocks away), bikes, gas grill, breezy screened in porch, sun deck, they even stock sunscreen and bug spray!If it rains there is a dvd player and even some games. If you are someone who can't live without their computer, the house is wireless. There are more than enough showers for everyone, including one of the cleverest uses of space I have ever seen in a renovation- a step down concrete shower under the stairs! Everything feels new and fresh and clean- stainless steel appliances (although the stove is so high tech was a bit hard to figure out!)
The owner is helpful, the house was clean when we arrived, there were enough fluffy white towels and enough tv's in the bedrooms for those who can't fall asleep without one!
The town of Tybee is a small, relaxed, friendly spot with some pretty good restaurants. I recommend The Sundae Cafe for a more upscale meal, North Beach Grill for a drink and a laid back snack and Huc a Poos for pizza and local color.
If you want to go on a dolphin boat ride, there is one about a mile and a half away, the beach has it's quiet less populated spots, and the kite boarders are out in force on the south end. It is also fun just to ride around on the bikes and check out all the cute properties in the area- or take your bike on the beach. Tybee is a "chill" place with a minimum of "attractions". There is bike rental if you need more than the 3 the house provides and kayak rental but most people go to hang out at the beach.
The sound of birds will wake you in the morning and you will feel so relaxed and comfortable staying in this cottage, you will not want to go back to your regular life!
(my only very small complaint was that we could have heated the pool but could not find any pool instructions- we should have been more aggressive and asked!)
