basic needs

This home served our needs in the small town of Goshen Vermont. My husband and I were in the area for a wedding with two small children and my mother. We needed enough bedrooms and a kitchen, which the local bed and breakfasts could not provide. By the end of the weekend we could smile at our rental but when we first arrived we were not very impressed. An instruction packet that was sent to us after we signed the contract and just a couple of weeks before our arrival details the many quirks this house as including pests and a foul sewage smell that emanates in the living room at all times. Had we read this prior to signing the contract we may not have elected to stay there. We did see mice in the kitchen, and we were unable to sit in the living room or watch tv due to the musty smell and the smell of what I think was the septic system. There is no cell service or Internet but there is a convenient house phone. The property was beautiful, the home has great potential but needs some TLC form the owners
It has low water pressure, temperamental toilets, loose faucets, musty upholstery and bedspreads, push button electrical switches so probably very old wiring. The house is quite remote on a dirt road, if you're just looking for a place to sleep and enjoy the quiet and scenery - then it's good, but if cleanliness and creature comforts are important to you, this might not be the place for you. Approximately 10 minutes from Brandon VT
Owner's Response: We have replaced the management for this property as the visitors experience was not acceptable. We have offered them a refund. In addition, it should be noted that in six years, this is the only negative review. We hope in the future, any guest will contact us immediately if an issue arises while at the property. Our visitor information sheet lists both a rental manager and a local handyman with phone numbers so guests may immediately have any issue corrected.
