Made The Best Of IT

On arrival the house appeared as it had been described and pictured. Upon entering there was a very strong odor of cleaning products which could only be eliminated by opening all windows and removing the wet mop from the bedroom closet. The house is in a residental area as noted. During our stay there was construction going on directly next door and across the street. All week long there was early morning pressure washers, painters, hammering, sawing and workers, no alarm clock needed. No parking on the street applies to visitors only, our view out the front was a giant racing cigar boat, parked on the street, belonging to the people across the street. The master bedroom mattress was horrible, and headboard not attached to frame but I did talk to manager and she assured me that this would be taken care for future guests. The Living Room sofa lacks comfort. Pam was very helpful and always responded in a timely fashion to emails and calls. The only bathroom is very very small, no tub and a tiny sink vanity. The boat manager, Rick, is very nice and helpful. A super nice guy! This property does share a dock with the boat he uses so privacy while having morning coffee or an afternoon drink was often interrupted. The house is on a canal and back yard is viewed by at least 5 other houses. The gas grill and patio furniture was nice. There is no cover over anypart of the patio which would have been nice since it rained while we were there. When we arrived the weather was horrible. Storms had made the water very cloudy and cold. The private island is much smaller than it appears in the photos. It is also much more primitive than I had expected. The island is coral so shoes are a must. Not really anywhere to lay in the sun except on the dock. It has a nice dock but due to the amount of bird droppings the odor is horrible. This seemed to be a problem with any dock in the area though. The locals recommend this area for people interested in fishing, scuba diving and just relaxing. No nightlife scene to speak of unless you want to drive south to Key West. There are a few cute shops to visit but you have to look for them carefully. We chartered a fishing boat while there but the weather messed that up. Personally, we prefer a bit more luxury in accomodations when on vacation. A car is a must when staying here. There are 3 public beaches on the Atlantic side to visit via a short drive. This was our first trip to The Keys and we learned a lot from this experience.

Owner's Response: We are happy and proud that this guest noted how our superior customer service staff responded to their requests in a timely and satisfactory manner and that our property was described and advertised accurately. While we would like to control weather, unanticipated construction in the area, or the use of city issued special parking permits, unfortunately we cannot. Our guests often reflect on the quiet surroundings, wonderful tourist activities, crystal clear water and great weather in the Keys. Whether you are a first time visitor to the Keys or a seasoned veteran, I believe you will find it to be like no other US vacation destination spot. We welcome you to come on down, sit back, kick your shoes off and find out for yourself!
