Photos and Description of the Canmore vacation house rental 6 bedroom, 3 bathroom, sleeps 11.

We have six bedrooms, three full baths, heated slate floors in the master bath along with a two headed shower and jetted tub. The living room/ kitchen are wired for sound with speakers in four corners. Downstairs we have three bedrooms, a large common room with television and a sitting/reading area, and an entrance/mudroom. There is a laundry room with a large capacity washer, dryer and a full bathroom. The kitchen has granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, a convection oven, a convection microwave, a gas powered cook top, a smaller (at child height) child/drink fridge, a dishwasher, an enormous refrigerator and the best feature is the gas powered floor to ceiling rock fireplace. There are three decks. However the most frequently used one is the south deck where a six person hot tub can be enjoyed. The daytime views are incredible with most of the Bow Valleys peaks visible. At night we star gaze and look for shooting stars.

The O’Brien Home is a 3500-sq. ft. luxury home located on the edge of prestigious Lions Park. It is a 6-bedroom home with 18 foot vaulted ceilings in the great room/dining area. The huge south and east facing windows provide a stunning view of all the key mountain peaks in the Canmore region. From the living room you can view EOR (East end of Rundle), China Man’s (now called Ha Ling), Miners peak, Three Sisters, Grotto and Lady MacDonald. From the master bedroom the entire Rundle Range is visible. Our house has Lions Park as its’ backyard. This fifteen acre playground has three tennis courts, two sets of play apparatus, a baseball diamond and a soccer pitch. The best part of the location is the entire labyrinth of running and cycling paths that spider web out in all directions from this residence. Included in this are the famous Canmore Nordic Centre mountain biking and running paths which are five minutes away by bicycle.

local attractions: We are situated on the edge of the Unesco world famous Banff National Park. The Township of Banff is 10 minutes away by car. The selection of amenities and attractions are world class. As well, Canmore is surrounded on all sides by either provincial or federal parks. It is a world class mountain town in the middle of one of the best preserved and unspoiled mountain environments in Canada.

The Mountain Biking is world class

Ski: In addition there is the world famous Kicking Horse resort, one of my favorites.

Golf: There are 6 world class golf courses in this region.

We stayed in canmore as a base to visit some of the ski resorts around Banff.

The house is very comfortable and accommodated 7 with ease, though there is only one seperate bedroom, one couple in the lounge and three singles in the mezzanine which is fairly private, but not an actual seperate bedroom.

You get a Banff park pass which is great as its about $10 daily entry, internet access which worked flawlessly once we had the access code, nice kitchen, big plasma tv and an account at the local DVD rental shop.

The 'bathroom' on the mezzanine level is not enclosed, its open plan with the actual bedroom which is very odd and means you have to really get on with the people you are sharing with if you plan on using it as a toilet/shower.

We couldnt get the hot tub working properly, we could only get the circulation jets going..no bubbles or massage jets. We got no answer to our queries about this.

Its about 20-30 minutes to Sunshine Village, the biggest in the area. We took 2.5 hours to get to kicking horse which is fabulous in fresh snow. Revelstoke would take an age..about 4.5 hours. The highway across the province border into BC is often closed in heavy snow conditions so check it before you leave.

In conclusion the house is very comfortable and well provisioned, you can fit 7 in if you want to save money but bear in mind the reduced privacy. The ladies on call in the village were mostly very helpful but didnt help with the hottub. Its right next door to a supermarket which is good but also means if they are snow clearing in the morning its noisey. There are also very large and long goods trains passing within hearing range so take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
