Elegantly furnished downstairs house has 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, a living room, sun room, breakfast nook, kitchen with gourmet stove/oven, Subzero fridge/freezer and dishwasher, large outside deck with dining table and spacious garden with garden house. Separate side entrance leads to a cozy upstairs cottage, nestled next to large tree with tree house. Full separate kitchen, dining area and bedroom with full bath, and private upper deck with ocean peek view. Enjoy the day on sandy Windansea beach, take an outside surf shower (or relax in the wooden hot tub), then take a 15 minute stroll along the beach to world class restaurants at La Jolla village, view the seals at Children's Pool - or simply relax in this elegant home that was built in 1940 by San Diego writer Max Miller.

Our home is at beautiful Windansea Beach in La Jolla, CA. The surf culture at this local beach was made famous in 'The Pumphouse Gang.' There are numerous wonderful beaches all along the 1.1 mile walk to the village of La Jolla. Stop at Marine Street and Seal Beach en route to the Cove, where you can swim and snorkel. In the village you can find all kinds of restaurants and shops, from mid-range to upscale. Theatre and arts are available at the Museum of Contemporary Art and La Jolla Playhouse. La Jolla Shores beach offers a safe, family environment for swimming, surfing and playing. Be sure to drive up the coast to the northern beach towns, and visit all the attractions of San Diego as well.

Windansea Beach: Windansea beach is a beautiful beach still well-known mostly to locals. The north or south ends of Windansea are best for young children. Just in front of 'the shack' you'll generally find the best surf breaks. The tidepools at the north and south ends are brimming with life to explore at low tide.

La Jolla Village: The village of La Jolla is just a mile north of our home. It is a lovely 15-minute walk through a historic, established neighborhood or along the beach (at low tide). The village has numerous restaurants and shops of all kinds. The village also has a beautiful coastal park that has free concerts on Sundays in summer. Seeing the seals at the Children's pool and snorkeling or swimming the cove are favorite activities. The Museum of Contemporary art offers special programs and movies, and the La Jolla playhouse showcases both new and Broadway theatre.

San Diego: San Diego has so many attractions to offer tourists. The city is made up of many smaller villages which are all wonderful to visit. Coronado island, downtown, Seaport Village, Old Town, Point Loma, Mission and Pacific Beaches all have their own offerings and personality - as do the beach cities to the north. Families will enjoy Sea World, Legoland, The Wild Animal Park, The Zoo and the Knotts waterpark. Downtown theatre and music venues offer a huge variety of shows. The racetrack at Del Mar is a draw in summer.

Perfect Place to Stay

We got back yesterday, and I had to look online at the pictures of this house again. It has to be the most unique, beautiful, family accomodating place my husband and I have ever stayed. There were 8 of us - 2 sets of grandparents (early 60), 30's daughter and son in law and their two children (age 4 & 2). The tree house, sandbox, and "secret room" were hits with the kids. The beach is 1/2 block away, and we walked there twice a day. The neighborhood was great to walk through to get to the village. The Busy Bagel Shop was delicious for breakfast, and the spa across the streets gives super massages. We will stay there again in the future and will recommend it to everyone we know going that way. Family getaway w/ purpose

What a fabulous home. I have never vacationed in a place that was so easy to get comfy in. Our teens loved it as well as our younger child. This place has something for everyone. Whether it be a quiet place to read or a yard to stretch, run and play in. All of this just paces from the beautiful pacific coast. The beach is perfect for strolling, sun bathing, or building castles and obviously, splashing in the waves. The area is easy walking. Very residential-great for peace and quiet. The best thing I can say about it is to all the mothers out there looking for a place to do your Mom thing, easily, this is your best bet. The kitchen and amenities are wonderful. My husband and I slept great in the upstairs space. We all loved it!
