Our spacious well-appointed 2700 sq. ft. 4 bedroom home will make your vacation dreams come true. It is located on 1.5 acres in a private community at the top of the hills west of Sonoma, and sits 1300 feet above the valley floor. It is surrounded by mature Oak and Bay trees giving you beautiful wooded views from every window. There are sweeping views of the hills and the south end of the Sonoma valley, the Carneros wine region and the north end of the San Francisco bay waters. Our hills are bustling with deer, wild turkeys, squirrels and many, many species of birds. Our guests say that our house feels like a '5 star' hotel: that’s exactly what we’d hoped. As you enter the front doors you are greeted with the warmth and welcoming feel of this home. There are neighbors but with the beautiful mature vegetation you can’t see other houses. You will feel like you’re in a world of your own. We are 5 miles from Sonoma’s central square where there are world class restaurants & shops.
More About Us: Our kitchen has always been a favorite gathering spot. Lots of counter space, a great expanse of windows, a fireplace and our “pub” table all provide the perfect atmosphere. Our spacious dining room lends itself to romantic dinners or upbeat gatherings.
The living room and sunroom overlook our large deck and the expansive views of the valley and distant mountain ranges. The morning sunrise is spectacular. If you prefer to sleep late, just grab a robe and enjoy the valley views with your first cup of coffee.
The Sonoma valley is known as the Valley of the Moon. There is nothing more breathtaking than the big orange moon rising over the hills in the evening and flooding our deck with its glow. You’ll have a bird’s eye view.
Our Bedrooms are Inviting: Each bedroom has a personality of it’s own. Every bed has a down feather comforter to give you warmth without the weight and down feather pillows that will perfectly adjust to your preferences. All bedrooms have additional seating that will give you comfortable places to get-away from the group if you need a quiet time to talk or read.
The wine country is a destination in itself: add to that this really terrific house and you have the perfect combination.
Karen is the short one :-) I'm a retired educator. I began my career as a public school elementary teacher, but soon discovered Montessori education and spent the majority of my working life in Montessori as a teacher, school owner, school administrator, college level instructor, and executive director of an international Montessori organization. Now, I'm happily retired.
I'm pleased to announce my daughter-in-law, Melissa, will begin managing Pepperwood Place.... She's the tall one :-) Melissa and my son live in Boulder, Colorado with my two wonderful granddaughters: Maddy age 6 and Skylar age 4. Melissa taught environmental education for many years in Yosemite (where she met my son!), and then worked to conserve land in Colorado after their move to Boulder in 2005. Now she volunteers her time at her kids' school and with a local non-profit that gets kids outdoors and into nature. She and her family travel back to California often, and still visit Pepperwood Place where they too have created many fond memories over the years.
Karen lived in this wonderful home for over 20 years and everyday felt like a vacation. When she moved to Pacific Grove in 2006 she decided to turn her Sonoma home into a vacation rental. You will see from the reviews written by our guests that this is a special place.
The house is nestled among beautiful old oak trees. The views are wonderful. The wildlife is ever present. You can't help but relax when you're here.
I absolutely agree with everyone elses comments, right down to the deer in the yard. Our group of 5 women who have been BFF's for the past 20+ years stayed here the first week in November. It was perfect! So much nicer than staying in a hotel or B&B! The bedrooms are very nice and the beds were so comfortable. Each of us had our own comfy robe hanging in the closets. That was very nice since several of us flew into the Bay Area, saving room in our suitcases for our purchases made while shopping at the square. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck with views of the valley at sunrise all the way to the San Francisco Bay. The kitchen is spacious enough that we could all fit comfortably around the "pub" table and enjoy our "happy hours." The living room is appointed with beautiful, comfy furniture where we could all sit and talk, talk, talk by the warm fire. We were able to enjoy background music because the owner took the time to create very clear and helpful operating instructions for those of us who are a little challenged in operating stereo equipment. In other words, every detail was carefully considered. The property is a great retreat, and very secure with automated gates at the driveway. Although we were there only two nights, it's so spacious, it would be perfect for extended stays.
We had a great time in this home that felt like a warm inviting home. The location was perfectly sitting on a hillside allowing spectacular views of the valley. This also kept us out of the early morning fogs that frequently cover the valley. The owners were very accessible and we never wanted for anything. We did wine tours with professional hosts as well as some on our own. The restaurants were great.
Beautiful house with fantastic views! The house was perfect and the grounds are gorgeous. Listing is accurate in all regards, the house well maintained and the owner very responsive. Definitely recommend without any hesitation.
Four couples (in our 60's) spent a relaxing long weekend here. We had room to spare in the house. The location in the hills was far enough away from the hubbub of the valley to provide an escape, but was close enough to easily allow visits to wineries, restaurants, and parks. But the best thing about this house is the gasp-inspiring view from the deck, overlooking Sonoma Valley. What a wonderful place to sit and sip wine with friends!
My girl friends and I wanted to get away for a weekend and we actually originally planned on Napa. But the home we wanted ended up getting booked, so we decided to try Sonoma instead....and we were SO glad we did! The house fits 8 guests in 4 bedrooms...it was just so spacious, but still felt very cozy! Other than actual groceries, the house has everything you need! Pots, pans, cooking oil, salt, pepper, etc. Everyone had their own robe, blankets/bedding was clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. There was a hot tub, too! We definitely utilized that for some relaxation. Everything was great. The lights leading to the hot tub outdoors didn't work, but as soon as I informed the owners, they got right back to us!
Communication with Melissa and Karen was just awesome. I can't stress enough how important it is for business people to respond to clients. They got back to my emails very quickly and gave us all the info we needed to check into the home...they even gave us a list of great wineries nearby, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. I can't say enough...the home was wonderful and the owners are great. We loved the trip...loved the home...and did NOT want to leave! Thank you, Melissa and Karen! =)
My husband and I, along with 6 of our friends, rented this fabulous house for a long weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday. This was the perfect hour for this sized group, we had plenty of room and never felt cramped. The views were absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed coffee each morning on the deck and had a great time cooking breakfasts and dinners together. The kitchen is VERY well stocked, not only with cookware but with any spice you could ever need. We had such a great time that the only time the TV was turned on was for the Super Bowl and then it was promptly turned off. The location was perfect for our two days of wine tasting in Sonoma and Napa. We will definitely plan a return trip!
Your home is lovely! The beautiful trees on the property give it such a majestic feeling. The big front gate made us 7 women feel secure. Deer were outside the kitchen windows in the early morning. We enjoyed the jacuzzi very much. We made handsome fires in your fire places while we sipped on California wines, purchased that day from the wineries. Thank you so much!
Sonoma is a very special place located at the far most southern end of Sonoma County.
