I am Brent Kerger from Tallahassee, Florida. I am a research scientist for my regular job, but my wife and I invested in rental properties in Florida plus this one in the mountains of South Carolina. We manage and maintain all of our properties personally, and have been doing this successfully for about 15 years in total.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
We bought a lot and built this rental property at The Rock at Jocassee because we fell in love with the beautiful area and the fantastic access to waterfalls, lakes, state parks, mountain vistas and wildlife that our family has enjoyed every year. Scenic Highway 11 has more than a dozen state parks including Table Rock State Park which is just a few miles east of our property. Great sites to visit in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee are within an hour's drive. This is really a great location for natural family fun at a very low cost.
We built the house with families in mind. The upstairs has the master bedroom and bath, plus a kitchen, great room and sun room with treetop views in back and foothill/mountain vistas off the front covered porch. There is lots of seating upstairs for feeding a large group and just relaxing in the peaceful mountain environment. The downstairs has three more bedrooms and a game room for the kids, plus a nice deck and BBQ grill out the back door. This is one of only two homes that were built so far in a quiet subdivision off the golf course development. The clubhouse is a mile away and has golf pro shop, restaurant/bar, swimming pool, tennis, and other amenities.
I can't say enough about this property. My stepdaughter was getting married at the Lodge in Table Rock and it was a five minute drive away. Totally beautiful surroundings; peaceful and bucolic. There is so much to see, we were there for far too short a time. Great house for entertaining and having separate space for adults to be upstairs and younger kids to be downstairs. I will be going back!!
My wife, our small dog, and myself stayed here prior to hiking up Table Rock Mountain and it was perfect. The home is isolated enough for privacy without being in the middle of nowhere. In fact it's only a 6-minute drive from Table Rock State Park! If you have kids you may want to bring something for them to do as the TV gets few stations but does include a DVD player.
Personally, in such a beautiful location, I didn't watch TV at all - outside was ten times prettier. We visited in July expecting swarms of insects but were very pleasantly surprised to find next to none, save for bees and wasps who only bother adventurers foolish enough to disturb their nests.
Though I didn't have a chance to check it out during our brief stay, there is a golf course at the entrance to the neighborhood, and we regularly saw other visitors doing for walks around it. The whole area is beautiful and serene.
Overall, this rental is great for fellow hikers like my wife and I, but might be a little too woodsy for people accustomed to city-life.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Our son's wedding at Table Rock took our large family to the area and we need a place for everyone to stay together. This was conveniently located to the park and the house itself was great. The kitchen was well stocked. The layout allowed for fun and conversation in large and small groups. Very clean and comfortable. Brenda (property manager) was great and very accommodating. The kids enjoyed hiking around the house. Would definitely stay here again.
A group of friends met up here for a week of riding. The house was very comfortable for the 5 of us and well appointed. The sunroom was an especially nice feature. Not my first visit and likely not our last. Great home base for some very pleasant and challenging cycling.
the table rock property was perfect for our needs;
my niece was getting married & we needed a
large enough space to accommodate multiple families.
nothing about it was luxurious, but it was clean & functional.
it would be a great house for a group going hiking in the nearby
mountains. I would recommend this property.
The house was amazing and very clean. We had a wonderful time despite the thunderstorms and we were able to keep the kids occupied with a small waterfall right down the street from the house.The house is fully equipped with everything we needed for cooking 3 meals a day, Was great being so close to all the sites in the area.Can't wait to book another weekend here!
