Hale, Michigan is about 2 & 1/2 hours north of Detroit in lower NORTHEAST MICHIGAN n Iosco, county and it is the gateway to over 600,000 acres of the Huron National Forest, the Mighty AuSable River, Rifle River, sixty lakes area, and 1000's of miles of hiking, biking, ORV, horse, snowmobile & cross country ski trails! There are 60 lakes within 60 miles, hence the 'sixty lakes' area! Add all the lakes with the many rivers and streams and we have a fisherman's dream! Activities include swimming, boating, water skiing, canoeing, hunting, fishing, golfing, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, hiking, road biking, snowmobiling, picnicking, camping, bird & wildlife watching, & so on. You'll enjoy one of the absolutely best lake views available on this approx. 500 acre, spring fed, all sports lake! Sincerely - our lake views are just spectacular! There are lots of pines... Notes: We have a very clean 16 foot pontoon boat available for rent. Also 2 Yamaha III Waverunners are available for rent. We have a nice aluminum paddle boat that you are welcome to use at no charge. Another Rental Home In Hale On This Site Says It Has Beautiful Views - Well, I Can Promise You That They Do Not Even Come Close To The Lakefront Views At Our Home - No Comparision!!!! Don't Be Fooled!

What a Lake View!!!!: We absolutely have one of the most spectacular lake views on Long Lake! Everyone who comes to stay at our home has said that it is much nicer than they were expecting. Every vacation home is different, so don't be fooled by pricing, etc alone! You won't be disappointed with our home! It is spectacular!

Snowmobiling: We have thousands of miles of snowmobile trials nearby, come stay at our brand new cedar lakefront cottage this winter. Enjoy our 'winter wonderland'!

Other Activities: tubing & kayaking on the famous Ausable River!

Thank you so much Monty and Tammy for opening your wonderful home to us for our lake vacation. The house is absolutely beautiful with everything you need supplied to you. We had the most enjoyable, relaxing week. The fishing was great as was just relaxing on the sandy beach. We grilled and ate just about every night on the main deck (one of three) and enjoyed the amazing sunsets followed by a night cap around the fire pit. I highly recommend anyone wanting a beautiful new home with amazing views to stay here. There is plenty to do for everyone from swimming, fishing, boating, paddle boats, jet skis, air hockey, table tennis and more. The neighbors were extremely nice and welcoming. We definitely will return and look forward to it!

Absolutely Beautiful and Highly Recommended

This cottage is extremely clean and very comfortable. Enjoy the game on a flat-screen LCD or soak up the sun on one of three decks.

It accommodated two families easily. There was some concern that noise could keep the younger children awake because of the open loft design and the bedroom on the main floor. No worries though, the adults simply moved to the first floor to enjoy cocktails and talk late into the night.

The view from the cottage was stunning and two loons were parked directly in front of us for most of the weekend. We enjoyed fishing, pedal-boating, campfires and long days playing in the sand with the kids. We grilled on the large deck constantly. Meals overlooking the lake were very pleasant. Overall, just a great place to vacation. I would recommend a ski boat or wave runners if you have older children. This cottage is perfect for all kinds of water sports.

Finally, the owners were great and very easy to work with…

Good times! We look forward to returning next year!

Cottage or Resort, It's got everything.

This is the first cottage that we stayed at that we felt like we were at a resort and not a 50 year old musty cottage that needs to be knocked down before it falls down. This place is BRAND NEW! With Jet ski's, boat, small private beach, fire pit, dock. 3 stories with balconies, great view. See you next year!!!!

Pretty nice house and location, but...
There were some things that really did't match with the description of the property. Gas grill's tank was empty. There was no charcoal grill as they noted as well, so we couldn't have barbecue at all.
The jetskie that we rented was old and broken. It took us two days to get another one from them and there was no price reduction after that.
There are only two bedrooms and basement with a very uncomfortable sleeper sofa. If you consider sleeping on it for a week that wouln't be a good idea.
By the way, forget your deposit! There is a big chance that you won't get it back at all. We've rented a lot of houses before and have what to compare to.
Owner's Response: For those looking for a beautiful lakefront home for their vacation, we would like to address this renters review:

Gas Grill: Our like new gas grill was not empty. It had plenty of propane in the tank. But, for some reason, these folks decided to turn our gas grill into a charcoal grill. Not a good idea. Gas grills are not to be used for charcoal. The hot charcoal cinders fell from underneath the gas grill and burned our deck really bad. We were lucky they did not put the house on fire! We had to have a large area re-sanded and re-stained and a few boards were replaced. Also, these folks left a trail of grease stains on our deck from the grill to first floor door wall. Apparently, they did not use a plate for their food after grilling. Wow!

Jet Ski: These renters complained that the first Jet Ski rented was not fast enough? So, we drove 2 hours away to pick up another jet ski of ours that was faster. They were very pleased with it and told us they had a great time. They did leave our jet ski with no gas. We rented our jet ski for $450 for the week. A nearby marina charges anywhere from $1500 to $2000 per week.

Bedrooms: As we state in our heading, we consider our basement as our 3rd bedroom since it has it’s own full bathroom, a full wall entertainment center and a comfortable leather queen sofa sleeper. We think this is much nicer than most bedrooms.

Security Deposit: We have no intentions of keeping anyone’s security deposit and we gladly refund this $250 provided you take care of our home. We understand normal wear and tear, but the list of damages made by these renters is too long to list.

Bottom Line: We listed our home In April 2007 and we booked all summer of 2007 and 2008. We have had many wonderful people come and enjoy our beautiful lakefront home. Please take the time to read all our reviews so you do not miss out on a wonderful home and location for your next vacation! WOW - WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HOME!

My family has rented 3 different cottages on Long Lake over the past few years. The one we were going to rent again this year was already booked on the week we wanted, so we decided to try this one for a change.

All I can say is WOW!

I sure wish we had gone here before! This is by far the best lakefront home we have stayed at! The owner was very accurate as to this home having some of the best lake views and sunsets on the lake!

The water was clean and sandy, very few if any rocks. The kids swam and played in the sand everyday. We enjoyed having the paddleboat to use and we loved spending evenings sitting around the fire pit making smores, listening to the waves and enjoying the awesome “up north” skies and stars.

This home is brand new and very, very clean & well maintained. We spent a lot of time on the main floor deck - it is such a beautiful view. We also appreciated having the gas grill - we cooked on it daily. The neighbors were very friendly and invited us all over for a large fire they had.

What a great time we all had! We caught some good-sized fish right off the dock! We saw lots of deer, wild turkey and listened to the birds singing. We took a drive along the AuSable River and stopped at all the beautiful scenic outlooks along the way! How beautiful it is in this area!

Our security deposit was refunded promptly - within a week or so of our stay.

We highly recommend this beautiful home – you won’t be disappointed! Of all the places we have rented, this was the nicest!

We will definitely be coming back next year!
