Calliote Canyon is a stunning, one of a kind property

located just ten minutes from the lovely town of Ojai and only 1-1/2 hours north of Los Angeles. Calliote Canyon provides both total privacy from the outside world and easy access to restaurants, art galleries, beaches and more.

Calliote Canyon is comprised of five privately owned acres which back to the Los Padres National Forest. Situated in a natural “bowl” created by surrounding mountains and foothills, Calliote Canyon offers a 360 degree, uninterrupted view of the natural world. An abundance of sun-dappled foliage and peaceful pathways, ancient boulders, and a pure, mountain-fed creek and waterfall complete the natural splendor.

A large main house sleeps ten to twelve comfortably. Two romantic guest cottages sleep two each. And a 30 ft. multipurpose yurt comes with up to fifteen futon pads for a cozy night’s sleep. The main house includes a beautiful master suite with private bath, a state of the art kitchen and open dining area, 2 extra downstairs bedrooms and full bath with steam shower, a spacious, inviting den with DVD and internet access, two large fireplaces, and a wrap- around deck ideal for conversation or contemplation. A built-in grill on the deck encourages multiple cooks. The yurt is wonderfully suited for practicing yoga or meditation or for receiving massages. The yurt also comes equipped with a 120' drop-down screen (perfect for showing movies or projecting ideas) and 20 low-slung, back-supporting chairs.

Ojai is considered sacred land by the Chumash tribe, and Calliote Canyon is designed with the sacred in mind. Created as a sanctuary, Calliote Canyon invites communion: communion with nature, communion with the divine, and communion (or reunion) with family and friends.

What can we say... we spent a gorgeous week-end in Ojai at Calliote Canyon, which culminated in us throwing the wedding we had dreamed of.... The setting could not have been better, with every attendee blown away by the beauty of both the landscape, and the interior spaces of the main house and the cottages. A stunning week-end that both us and our guests will never forget. We can't wait to get back!

My first thought when arriving at Calliote was 'How can I live here forever?' What a wonderful, beautifully crafted estate! From the thoughtful, colorful landscaping to the hand-made cabinets and interior finishes, everything about Calliote Canyon is designed for relaxation, joy, and elegance. Unlike many rental properties and retreat centers, there is a feeling of completeness. No details have been skipped over or spared, which means that our time spent here was nothing less than perfect. The process of booking, organizing, and executing our wedding here was made smooth and simple through the help of Raymond, who is an exceptional manager for this property. I wholeheartedly recommend Calliote Canyon as the destination of choice for a family or group that wants to be surrounded by peace, relaxation, integration with nature, and beauty.

Calliote Canyon was an amazing location for our Women's Retreat. A perfect get-a-way for Moms who needed a weekend to rest, relax, and rejuvinate. We took full advantage of all the property had to offer...yoga and meditation in the yurt, soaking and relaxing in the hot tub and sauna, quiet chats and reading creekside, and swimming in the amazing creek surrounded by beautiful bolders and a magical waterfall. Communal meals in the great kitchen/dinning room allowed old friends to reconnect and new friendships to blossom...followed up by s'mores by the bonfire under a star-filled night (it was a new moon)!! We couldn't have dreamed up a more fantastic retreat. We're all looking forward to coming back again next year. Calliote Canyon would also make for fabulous muli-family vacation destination or reunion.

The combination of good friends, a significant birthday year, and Calliote Canyon's beauty added up to simply an unforgettable 3 days. Guests came from the east coast, the Rockies, and the Pacific Northwest -- all of whom have seen their share of beauty -- and are still talking about the weekend a month later. Everything about Calliote Canyon is First Class. From the big and user-friendly kitchen to the dining area to the bedrooms to the outdoor living areas to the sauna and hot tub to the incredible landscaping. It is a gracious setting, yet casual and inviting. I'd love to go back sometime.
