Gracious 7-bedroom, 4400 square foot home perched on a hill crest overlooking rooftops of neighboring homes, and views of Saco River and Old Orchard Beach from cupola. Built in 1927 in the flamboyant Second Empire Style, this classic Victorian is adorned with Art Deco features like the Egyptian inspired exterior porch rails and geometric inlaid patterns in the hardwood floors. Step inside to a horizontal sweep of open space from the grand parlor, through a broad foyer with columns, through the living room with a brick fireplace, and into a huge sun room with built-in benches and sunken planters, 55 feet end to end. This home possesses distinctive original features in abundance including wonderful moldings, inlaid hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers, hardware, built-in cabinetry, and a wealth of French doors. The decor is antique and modern. 30 minutes drive to Portland or Ogunquit, 15 minutes Old Orchard Beach or Kennebunkport. Across the street is the scenic 30-acre Clifford Park.

Across the street is Clifford Park for viewing the White Mountains, the ocean with miles of gorgeous hiking/biking trails through granite quarries, and cascading waterfalls. Located 30 minutes from Portland or Ogunquit, 15 minutes from Old Orchard Beach or Kennebunkport, and six minutes from beaches of Fortunes Rocks or Biddeford Pool. The nature conservancy at Biddeford Pool is a terrific vantage point for offshore islands, a lighthouse, and the White Mountains hovering above Old Orchard Beach. The Saco River public boat launch is a mile away, as are kayak rentals for exploring the spectacular Saco River. Boston is a one-and-one-half-hour drive or can be reached via the Amtrak Downeaster. The downtown historic districts of Biddeford or Saco and the train terminal are a delightful ten-minute walk. A recent influx of development has spawned new cafes and ethnic restaurants. The “Museum on the Streets” self-guided walking tour provides background on area history and architecture.

The dream house for a family reunion

We all had a fabulous time at the Mansion in Biddeford. It is the absolute best place for a family reunion. The house is clean, has lots of linens, towels etc, lots of kitchen supply as well. We enjoyed cooking large family meals and nothing was missing. We were a group of 16 people with additional visitors for meals and it did not even feel crowded. The owner is a genuine nice person who does everything to make our stay enjoyable. We warmly recommend this house without hesitation. You won't regret !!

Lots of Room

Our family stayed at this rental Aug 2009. The house is older, but full of of antiques and charm, with plenty of room for the 14 people it sleeps in beds, all double or larger. The master bedroom had the only king bed but there were several queens. The kitchen had lots of utensils and pots for cooking. 5 of the 7 bedrooms were equipped with air conditioning and the many large porches both enclosed and open to outside air were a treat. The home was a short 5 minute ride to scenic Biddeford Pool and Biddeford Beach and Splash Town Fun Water and Amusement Park in Saco. We were also a short 10-15 minute ride from Old Orchard Beach. While not evident by the picture, this house is on a double line road, and although not terribly busy, it was not suitable for younger children to venture off on their bikes alone. Overall, a very positive rental experience with both the house and the owner.

Great Family Reunion

This house was perfect for our family reunion. We were (4) families and were perfectly comfortable in this house. This house is not new, but definatley has antique charm. It was extremly clean and the kitchen was well appointed. It had everything that we need an we cooked in most nights. The dinning room table sat 8 adults and 4 children comfortably and we were able to cook up a great lobster feast. The house is in biddeford... not much there but a short drive has you to old orchard, portland, kittery, cape neddick and more. One note: the stairs on this house are steep. There is a main floor bedroom for those who cannot climb. Not higlighted in the ad is the 2nd floor full kitchen. Yes this house has (2) kitchens, 3 TV rooms, 2 bathrooms and 5 bedroom. It is just as big as described. I would recommend this house. Execpt for the week of solid rain, this vacation home had all we needed.

Great Family Vacation

We rented June 14th-21st. The house was big enough for the seven of us and we had guest stop by and stay with us. The owner was very gracious and the house was very clean, the beds were very comfortable. This house is set more in the city this is not a beach house (if that is what you are looking for) New kitchen utensils, towels, toaster, nice dishes, nice pots and pans plenty of everything. TVs in every room, wireless Internet, nice sound system did use the fireplace and we could all eat together at the same time. The Clambake Restaurant 10 min. from the house was a good find. Shopping in Portsmouth, Free port and Kittery was about a 30 min ride. Had lunch in Portsmouth at Popovers, great salads. We rented before the season started so many places were not open. I would recommend waiting a week to rent. I think the rent was a little high for off season. I would recommend this rental for large families. Owner was prompt in returning our deposit.
